Tasting The Enemy

Chapter 38

Elaine POV

My vision was blurry when I woke up but the muscular back with tattoos on it eventually came into view. Azaire was hunched over shirtless on the edge of the bed.

“Hey… you,” my voice cracked.

He turned. “You’re awake.”

“How long was I out?”

“Two hours, mate. I thought the venom didn’t work.”

I sat up my bones didn’t ache surprisingly. “Is Blazer still here?”

“He wouldn’t leave until he knew you were better.”

He climbed on top of me and kissed me. I felt the hunger of his wolf through our mate bond. His need and desire pulled my wolf out of her semi-slumber. I dug my nails into his back and darted my tongue out to meet his.

“You scared me,” Azaire said.

“I’m sorry babe. I didn’t think I’d use that much energy.”

Azaire brushed my cheek and stared intensely into my eyes.

“I want you, Elaine.”

I grabbed the hem of his shirt and tugged.

Azaire laughed. “I take it you want me to.”

I deepened our kiss. “Yes.”

He rolled us over so I straddled him. He gazed up at me as he massaged my thighs.

“Azaire… what about the group?”

“What about them?” His brows dipped.

“They can… they’re all wolves… what if they smell what’s going on here?”

Azaire barked out a laugh. “Ross is out there. If they do which I doubt it, he’ll kick everyone out.”

“You know when two Alpha wolves mate it causes a power surge and my wolf’s pretty awake now.”

Azaire tugged me closer to his erection. “Let them feel it. I’m not letting you go.”

My impatient wolf clawed at me. I pulled off my shirt to let her know I wasn’t backing out. Azaire reached around and unclipped my bra. He kissed my chest softly before taking my nipple between his teeth and biting down. The sudden ache made me yelp. I cupped my mouth and Azaire chuckled.

“Come here,” he growled.

He lifted me on his erection, grinding me over him. I felt him grow harder and I grew wetter and eager just to have him inside me. Instead, Azaire flipped me on my back. Just when I thought he’d let me have control this time he wanted to dominate and control.

He sucked my neglected breast for a moment before kissing down to the waistband of my pants. Seconds later the pants were gone leaving me down to my underwear.

Azaire moaned as he kissed my inner thighs. I gripped the sheets and bit my lip.

I felt like an inferno. I wanted to cry out and let my pleasure be known. He toyed with me as he held himself back.

“Azaire!” I groaned.

“You’re so soft, babe. You smell so good.”

He pushed my underwear aside and his lips found my bud. I cupped my mouth to muffle my cry. The slow kiss on my clit made it even more agonizingly beautiful.

“You ready?” Azaire asked.

“Yes,” I rasped.

“I don’t think so.”

My eyes went wide. He thrust his fingers inside me. Slow and sensual at first. I raked my fingers through his silk-like hair. I closed my eyes as I climbed levels of pleasure. I raised my legs squeezed around him and raised my pelvis as I orgasmed.

Azaire emerged from the sea of my passion. When he climbed on top of me I knew the power surge was coming. He wrapped my legs around his waist. Gripping him tight he melted into me. His hardness stretched me out I cried out, forgetting about the others in the living room.

Azaire thrust slow and hard into me. He poured himself and his power into me as if I was an empty vessel. He gave me all of himself and I received it all. Azaire gripped my hair and sunk his teeth into my neck leaving his mark on me.

I moaned savouring the pain. I’d have more than sore bones tomorrow. As Azaire gave me to me my wolf emitted power and it raced to meet Azaire in the middle. I saw colours, a purple mist connecting with a red haze. I wondered if Azaire could see it too but he was too busy to notice.

The purple colours danced around us never mixed. Azaire increased his speed. Digging my nails into his back as I felt my second piece of paradise draw close I kept my eyes on the magnificent colours spar in a majestic dance.

“I’m close Elaine,” Azaire groaned.

“M-me too,” I whispered.

Our orgasms exploded at once. At that moment the colours crashed together only to explode and separate like a mist under the blazing sun. Azaire panted and rolled on his back.

“Gosh,” he groaned.

“Azaire, I think I saw colours.”

“I’ve heard of seeing stars but that’s something else.”

***

“Do you think I saw our power surge?” I asked as Azaire and I showered.

He showered I kept pestering him with questions.

“You don’t see one you feel it and smell it.”

“Then what was it?”

He grabbed my cheeks and kissed me to shut me up.

“Okay, you can see power surges. How does your wolf feel?”

Dove hasn’t retreated into herself since it happened. She felt normal but I knew if I asked her what it was she wouldn’t answer.

We got changed and headed into the living room. I hoped no one was around so I wouldn’t face the awkwardness.

“Oh, everyone is gone.”

Azaire smirked. “I told you Ross would come through. Looks like someone forgot their hoodie. They’ll be back.”

The doorbell rang several times before either of us could think. I didn’t recognize the scent. Azaire swung the door open and a girl wearing a black baseball cap and sunglasses stormed in. Who wore sunglasses at night?

“Rae? What’s with the outfit?”

She wore army green overalls and black boots. Azaire shut the door and Rae felt safe enough to remove her glasses.

She scanned the room and paused at me on the couch. She jumped slightly.

“Oh, you’re here.”ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

“You know she’s my girlfriend,” Azaire said.

He came around and draped his arm around my shoulder.

“I know but I didn’t think she’d be here,” Rae said through gritted teeth.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

Did he ask her to come? I never asked Azaire about Rae but he trusted her enough about our secret before we told anyone else. So she had to be good people.

Rae bit her bottom lip and rubbed her arm. “I… look since you came to my house. I’ve been getting hit. There’s things in the shadows after me, watching me.”

I rubbed my chest to ease the sudden heaviness.

“Because of me?” I asked.

Rae shook her head.

“Let’s sit down. Tell me everything,” Azaire said.

I settled beside Azaire snuggling close for warmth. His apartment was cold.

Rae sat on the loveseat and hugged herself.

“Someone didn’t like what I undid on Elaine. I’ve been able to fight off the attacks but it’s overwhelming now.”

Azaire stroked my hair but listened intently. “Who is it, Rae? Do you have a name or a face?”

Rae shook her head. “I don’t. Whoever they are they’re a strong coven.”

“But Avena doesn’t belong to a coven. I don’t know how it works but she’s always just worked for my Dad.”

Rae met my eyes. “Powerful witches are after me. I can feel the coven magic.”

“Is it the same magic on Elaine the day I brought her to you?”

“It is that’s why I came. I don’t know where else to go, Azaire.” Rae’s voice cracked and her eyes drooped with desperation.

“Hey, don’t worry. We’ll figure it out.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know any of this would happen,” I said. My heart swelled with guilt for bringing this on her.

“Don’t be. It wouldn’t be so bad if I had a coven to fall back on and I haven’t had a drink in two weeks because of this. I have to be on high alert.”

“I’m glad you haven’t been drinking but this isn’t the way. I’ll speak to Richie tomorrow you can spend the night in the guest room.”

Rae chuckled and stood slowly. “Thanks but I don’t want to hear the sounds of a passionate night. There’s something else before I leave.”

“What?” Azaire asked.

“You asked me to look into curses but you blew me off.”

“Right, something came up. It’s been happening often these days.”

“The main reason you might be cursed is because you’re a hybrid.”

My heart dropped and I gasped. “Hybrid me?”

Rae shrugged. “People aren’t born with curses unless they’re hybrid. Hybrids are pretty uncommon and they’re usually frowned on.”

“But I-” I shook my head.

I didn’t know what to think. Dad never told me anything about my Mother not even a name I couldn’t be sure she wasn’t a wolf. It was forbidden for wolves to mate with other beings why would the Alpha break sacred laws?

“I don’t know but you can come by my house and we’ll check the right way,” Rae said.

I nodded but I wasn’t paying attention. I was analysing my life. Azaire spoke to her and walked her into the hall as I thought about my life as a cursed wolf. My powers were new and wild. I didn’t know any wolves with the powers to heal or to create fire and ice!

“Elaine,” Azaire said snapping me out of my thoughts.

“We don’t know for sure-” he started but I cut him off.

“No, Azaire. I think she’s right. I am a hybrid.”
