Chapter 1243
They all gazed at Josie with intrigue. Not long ago, Shirley, who had just been chastised, stood amidst the crowd. Josie let out a breath and asked, “What is this?”Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Zach’s face was devoid of any emotion. He casually picked up a bottle of wine from the table and headed straight toward Josie.
The surrounding staff didn’t dare to intervene. This wasn’t the first time the wealthy heir had caused a scene. Their usual solution was to call the police, but it was futile. The rich heirs had the means to smooth over any situation with their wealth.
If one ended up hurting themselves, then it simply wouldn’t be worth it. Tension knotted Josie’s back as she uttered when the man approached her, “Zach, have you lost your mind?”
“You’re too much.” Zach slightly leaned forward, his gaze mocking as he stared at Josie. He lightly tapped the bottle of wine in his hand. “Upon returning, you blocked the road, delivered documents to Dad, and even lectured my people. You really think highly of yourself, don’t you?”
Those people, likely all on a par with Zach, were waiting to see a spectacle.
Josie’s fingers tightened into a fist. She glanced at the surveillance camera overhead and asked, “What are you planning to do to me?”
Clearly, she was at a disadvantage, so it wasn’t wise for her to confront the situation head-on.
“I’m giving you three days. I don’t care how you explain it to Dad, but one thing is certain: you need to leave Wavery, just like you did two years ago.”
Zach had never despised Josie as much as he did at that moment. It didn’t matter who she had been before. He had always treated her like a joke. Evidently, he didn’t care if she had become Dexter’s wife.
But then, things were different. Her identity was known to all, and it had begun to affect his interests.
Josie raised an eyebrow. “What if I don’t?”
Originally, she had planned to leave Wavery as soon as possible. However, when Zach said this, she suddenly felt a rebellious streak.
“Then you would be just like this bottle!”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Zach abruptly hurled away the bottle in his hand. It smashed against the wall less than a meter behind Josie, the sound echoing loudly. The crimson liquid splattered onto her, looking eerily like blood.
Someone let out a soft gasp.
Yet Josie remained unmoved. She had weathered far greater storms than this. There was no reason for her to be frightened.
Unnoticed by all, the elevator behind her gradually ascended, and someone was on their way to this floor.
Josie remained as still as a mountain, her aura radiating a profound steadiness. She asked, “Zach, why do you still act like a child?”
“What did you say?” Zach sneered, practically itching to grab her by the hair and slap her.
“I said, ‘You, and the group of people behind you, are like overgrown infants who believe that money can solve everything. But in reality, it’s you who are weak and incapable. You are the ones who bully the weak and fear the strong. After all these years, you haven’t grown or improved at all, treating the things I discarded as if they were treasures.”
The more she said, the more absurd she found it all. She took deliberate steps toward Zach, jabbing a finger into his chest. “Do you think I’m Laura, to be manipulated like a pushover? You’re mistaken. I’m older and therefore more superior than you, for now and forever!”
Each word, each sentence, struck a chord deep within Zach’s heart.
He was forced to retreat step by step. He stuttered several times but couldn’t manage to articulate a coherent sentence.
As the elevator doors slid open, Zach was perfectly positioned to see the newcomer. For a moment, his eyes widened in surprise.
Meanwhile, Josie found herself stained with red wine, at that moment resembling a female warrior.
She slowly curved her lips into a smile. “Initially, I had no interest in the Olsen family, but your reaction has piqued my curiosity.
The words fell on deaf ears and met with an eerie silence. No one responded.
Right at the moment, Juliette came. “Alice, what’s wrong?” she asked.
