The Apple of My Eye

Chapter 2031 Do You Already Know Everything

Chapter 2031 Do You Already Know Everything

Vicky turned a blind eye to his resistance. She insisted on making Charles stay by flirtatiously touching

his chest.

"It's late, Charles. Aren't you tired already? You can't go home. You should stay here," she boldly

suggested.

"No, I'm going home." Charles had no plans of staying the night with Vicky.

This time, he just wanted to test Vicky. Since he'd already achieved his goal, there was no need to stay.

"Honey, stay with me." Vicky suddenly hugged Charles from behind, or rather, she jumped on him.

"Charles, you've never treated me like this before. How can you treat me this way? You're so cold.

Why? Why are you doing this to me? I just, I miss you. I'm going crazy. Just stay here for tonight.

Please, Charles. Please stay the night,"

Vicky tearfully begged.

If it had been anyone else who was begging like this, he'd have been affected, but this was Charles. If

anything, Charles only felt more disgusted.

"Before? I thought you lost your memory. Are you suddenly getting all your memories back now?"

Charles said coldly.

For once, Vicky was unable to respond. She'd made a mistake and said the wrong thing.

After a minute, she said, "Even if I can't remember anything, I know for sure that you must have been

good to me. Why else would I be so devoted to you?" Vicky looked at Charles firmly.

Charles gave her a cold look. "Are you sure?"

"You've got it all wrong then." Charles didn't care about Vicky at all.

At first, Charles was worried that Vicky would commit suicide. However, during this period of

observation, he'd concluded that for now, Vicky wasn't going to do anything stupid. Thus, he didn't hold

back as he talked to her.

"Charles, I've not misunderstood anything. I want you to stay. I know you love me." Vicky didn't seem to

hear what Charles had just said.

Charles didn't have any more patience for this. He frowned and just said, "I have an appointment."

After which, he shook off Vicky's hand and left.

As Vicky watched Charles go, she looked quite indifferent as if nothing was happening.

She knew that she didn't have a chance with Charles. She knew him well, but Charles didn't know her.

In fact, when Charles had asked her about the bar, she'd already had a plan. She was deliberately

confusing him by making him think that she was nothing but a vain woman who as after the title of

being the president's wife.

"Charles, do you really think I'd be so stupid? Do you really think you can catch me like that? Well,

that's naive of you! Do you think I'm still the same woman from before?" Vicky said viciously as she

headed upstairs.

Once Charles had left, he'd told the driver to head to the Dream Garden.

Meanwhile, the man David had hired had already been driven out by the employees of the Dark Night.

This time, he had asked someone else to go to the bar and deliberately come up with an excuse to

watch the surveillance video. However, he didn't expect that Isla would be on guard. Not only did Isla

see through his plan, but she also beat the man up and sent him away.

David had to pay for his medical expenses. However, before he could leave, he saw Isla.

"Wow, David, you really do know a lot of people. How do you know someone like that?" Isla

sarcastically said as she eyed him.

David suddenly felt as if he had been caught red-handed. He didn't know what to do or say.

"Go back and tell Charles to move on from Sheryl. Plus, you'd better keep a close eye on that Vicky. I'll

kill her if she gets on my nerves," Isla said ruthlessly.

After Isla turned to go to the bar, David wisely decided to leave.

He figured he didn't stand a chance against Isla, so he called Charles.

"What's up?" Charles said flatly as he answered the phone.

"Mr. Lu, I'm sorry. I failed." David was really ashamed. Anything that had to do with Sheryl and Isla—

he'd always failed. How could he not be ashamed?

"You couldn't get the video?" Charles guessed what he meant at once.

David nodded slightly, unable to speak.

"I see. It's fine. You can go back for now. Let's talk about this another time. The most important thing

right now is keeping an eye on Vicky. I think she's planning something." Charles hung up as soon as he

finished speaking.

He wasn't even sure what Vicky had planned; however, at the very least, he inferred that Vicky already

had some idea what he truly felt.

He returned to the Dream Garden, exhausted.

Charles had planned on sleeping as soon as he got home. However, he was surprised to find that

Melissa had been waiting up for him.

Charles frowned upon seeing Melissa sitting in the living room. "Mother, it's late. Why aren't you

sleeping yet?"

"I was waiting for you. Do you already know what's happening?" Melissa wanted to tell Charles the

truth tonight.

The whole afternoon, Melissa had felt uneasy, even though she was just playing cards. She couldn't

get her mind off it. She was driving herself crazy the longer she hid it from Charles.

"What are you talking about?" Charles asked, puzzled.

"Clark." Melissa lowered her head after speaking.

Charles nodded knowingly at the mention of Clark's name. When he saw the look on Melissa's face, he

instantly knew what she meant. He sighed. "Mother, it has nothing to do with you. Why are you blaming

yourself?"

"If it wasn't for me, Clark wouldn't have done that in the first place. It was all my fault. Did it worsen

things between you and Sher?" Melissa said, full of remorse.

"No, mother. You don't have to worry about these things. I'll take care of them. It's late. You'd better go

to sleep." Charles didn't want Melissa worrying about things like that, so he just urged her to go to bed.

Melissa had no choice but to let it go.

As Melissa headed upstairs, Charles followed behind.

That night, Charles had trouble sleeping. He couldn't stop thinking about Sheryl and the kids because

of what Melissa had just said.

Suddenly, he called Sheryl without thinking too much about it. He'd summoned all of his courage;

however, to his disappointment, there was no response.

Charles was upset that Sheryl hadn't answered. As soon as the dial tone stopped ringing in his ear, he

threw his phone aside.

He'd guessed that Sheryl probably wouldn't answer the call, but before it turned out that she really

wasn't going to, he hadn't realized how much it was going to hurt.
