The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 30 No Heart at All

The next day, Allison got word that Ronan was now Sophia's defense attorney and wanted to meet her for an out-of-court settlement.

Just then, Lyle called. "Allison, you might need to get yourself a lawyer!"

Allison said, "Mr. Warner, Ronan seems to be a well known lawyer!"

Even though Allison didn't have much of a connection with Lyle, she appreciated the heads-up.

"Ronan's the best lawyer in the country right now. He's been at it for over a decade and hasn't lost a single case!"

Allison stayed cool. "Don't worry, I know what to do."

After hanging up, she realized she couldn't just sit around since the other side had lawyered up. So, she asked Cleo to help find her a lawyer.

Still waking up at six in the morning, Allison was surprised to hear noises from the kitchen. She thought Felicity had come early.

But when she got closer, she was even more shocked to see Alexander. "Mr. Carter, what are you doing here?"

Alexander grinned. "Surprised to see a guy in the kitchen?"

Allison nodded, genuinely surprised.

At The Bennett Villa, neither Hayden, Preston, nor Jasper ever stepped into the kitchen. Even for tea, the servants handled it.

Breakfast was simple: fried eggs, grilled bacon, and oatmeal.

Alexander said, "I made some oatmeal; give it a try!"

"Actually, I usually eat breakfast at school."

She meant Alexander didn't need to go through the trouble, and six o'clock was too early.

But Alexander didn't mind. Instead, he lectured her. "Don't try to fool me. I asked Mia, and she said you don't eat breakfast at all, right?"

Allison was caught off guard. "It's too much trouble!"

As a high school student, getting up early for breakfast was a hassle.

Plus, Allison wasn't good at cooking, so she'd rather skip it.novelbin

After being forced to finish breakfast, Alexander pulled out an ointment. "You need to apply this to your injury. Have Felicity help you at noon."

Allison didn't take it. "I have some homemade ointment. Yours won't work."

Knowing she had medical knowledge, he didn't argue. He drove her to school and then got a call from Mia. "Uncle Alexander, something's wrong. The Brown family hired a top lawyer, and I heard he's really famous. Will he bully Allison?" Alexander knew exactly who the Brown family's top lawyer was but didn't take Ronan seriously. "Don't worry, I've got this."

With his assurance, Mia was happy and stayed home to recover, though she missed Allison a lot.

From the morning, Alexander waited for Allison's call. Given her situation, she wouldn't know any top lawyers, so she would definitely need help, and he was the best option.

But from morning until the end of evening classes, Alexander didn't get a call from Allison, which made him increasingly irritable.

Beside him, James said respectfully, "Mr. Carter, the legal team is prepared. Mr. Vasquez believes that no matter who defends Sophia, she will lose. He is confident he can secure a life sentence for her."

James noticed Alexander's lack of reaction and his displeased expression, so he kept quiet and stood by.

Hearing his words, James paused for a moment, then quickly realized it was Allison who hadn't called Alexander. Despite Alexander preparing everything, Allison hadn't reached out, which made him a bit angry.

After evening classes, as soon as Allison stepped out of the school gate, she saw a car not far away. Alexander got out and looked at her with a cold gaze, clearly displeased.

Allison didn't make a fuss and got into the car, but Alexander didn't say a word the entire time, his expression growing darker.

"Mr. Carter, you seem unhappy. Is it because of me?" Allison wasn't stupid. Since Alexander was giving her the cold shoulder, he was definitely angry, but she didn't know why.

"Allison, what the fuck are you thinking?" Suddenly, Alexander shouted, then pulled Allison into a room, trapping her against the door. "Didn't I tell you to come to me if you had any trouble? Why didn't you ask me for help?" Hearing his words, Allison paused for a moment. Maybe it was just a habit, but she was really used to handling things on her own. Besides, she thought Sophia hiring a lawyer was just a minor issue.

But seeing Alexander's reaction, it was clear he was quite upset.

Allison could only say, "Actually, I can handle this myself."

"Allison." Alexander was exasperated, shouting her name loudly. Allison could feel his anger and a hint of frustration in his eyes. "You don't have a heart at all!"

With that, Alexander let go of Allison, opened the door, and left.

For some reason, watching Alexander's figure, she felt a bit upset.

Cleo, always decisive, quickly found a lawyer for Allison that very night. "Allison, actually the best lawyer in the country is an old man, but it's not easy to get him. Although the one I found for you is good, I'm worried she might not be a match for Ronan."

Cleo had also found out a lot about Ronan. His undefeated record alone was quite intimidating.

"It's nothing. By the way, Dr. White will be meeting with you soon, so you need to prepare well!"

Allison hung up the phone, and then Lyle called to inform her about the first out-of-court settlement scheduled for tomorrow.

Since Sophia was still in the hospital for treatment, Madeline came with Ronan. "Ronan, this is Allison. She's the one who did this to Sophia. You mustn't let her off!"

Ronan glanced at Allison. She was quite pretty but had a cold demeanor. A young girl like her wanting to go up against him? Ronan sneered, his eyes turning sinister. "Ms. Bennett, has your lawyer arrived? In Skycrest's legal circles, there aren't many lawyers who dare to challenge me. Ms. Bennett, good luck!"

Ronan and Madeline walked into the conference room with smug expressions. But Allison didn't pay attention to their arrogance. Sometimes, the higher you climbed, the harder you fell.

Soon, a car arrived with Thalia Fairchild, the lawyer Cleo had found, and Mia as a witness.

Liliana, worried about Mia, had come along personally.

"Ms. Bennett, I'm Thalia!" Upon seeing Allison, Thalia extended her hand, and Allison shook it, both smiling at each other. Allison's first impression of her was good.

"Allison!" Mia excitedly ran over to Allison, with Liliana helplessly following behind.

Mia clung to Allison's arm while chattering about how miserable the past few days had been, and Allison listened quietly, her eyes full of indulgence, which pleased Liliana. Liliana said, "Alright, Mia, don't bother her! Allison, I heard the Brown family hired Ronan as their defense attorney?"

Allison nodded. "Liliana, this is my lawyer, Thalia!"

Liliana looked at Thalia and smiled, "Thalia, it's you!"

Thalia was also surprised to see Liliana and Mia. "Ms. Carter, I didn't expect to see you here!"
