“Congratulations lady Lashnia. You’re pregnant,” I was happy when the doctor who examined me said that. I can’t believe it. Steven and I are going to have a baby.

I happily stood up to get my bag. I saw the surprise on everyone’s face as to why I was happy. I saw dad, he’s with Uteir.

“Dad, I’m pregnant!”

“What?”

“Aren’t you happy?”

“Me,” we looked at Uteir at the same time when he interfered into the conversation. What is he talking about?

“I am the father. I’m sorry Don Guirro. I’ll take any consequences for what I did to lady Lashnia.”

“Hey stop it! You are not the father of my child, Uteir. Dad, don’t believe him. He is not the father of my baby.”

I am hoping that they will believe me but I received pity from their eyes. As if I were a desperate woamn initiating that my baby belongs to the man who doesn’t want me.

I was so angry that I slapped Uteir in front of everybody. He is not the father of my child. It’s Steven and no one else.

I locked myself in the room all night. I don’t know what dad did to Uteir. I do not care about them.

I will leave later and find Steven. For sure he will be happy with this good news.

It was late afternoon when I came out from my room and I was surprised to see that all of dad’s bodyguards where standing outside the room. I think they’ll stopping me to leave.

“What does this mean?”

“Lady Lia, I’m sorry but the Don ordered us not to let you leave your room.”

What? Why? I need to talk to Steven. They can’t lock me in the house.

I need to escape. They can’t do this to me. I will not allow Uteir to be the father of my child. Yucks!

THIRD PERSON

6 in the evening, Lia escaped by disguising as a maid. She outwit her bodyguards and ran to Steven’s place.

Her face couldn’t hide the excitement at the news she brought. What she didn’t know was that Uteir was in the garage and was about to leave for the transaction at the Casino then accidentally, he saw Lia escaping. Uteir immediately followed her.

Lia on the other hand, noticed Uteir. What she did, she sped up the car without minding the officers who warned her. Because her mind was focused on escaping from Uteir, she did not notice the approaching truck on her way. She was about to crash to the truck, luckily in the last minute, she managed to turn the steering wheel and crashed the car into a tree instead.

When Lia woke up, she wondered why she had a bandage on her body and was confined in the hospital. When she looked around, she saw Uteir worriedly looking at her.

“What happened?”

Lia immediately touched her belly and turned to Uteir with full of fear.

“My baby is fine, right? How is he?” Lia started panicking the moment Uteir looked away from her.

“Answer me Uteir. My baby is fine, right?”

“Why don’t you answer me?” Lia was fuming mad. She knew already why Uteir didn’t want to answer her but she didn’t want to accept the idea lingering in her mind. She didn’t want to accept that her baby was gone.

“If you don’t say anything, then leave Uteir,” she said in a cold manner.

Uteir sighed before exiting. When there was no one in the room, Lia poured out all the pain she was carrying.

She was in so much pain to the point that she couldn’t tell anymore the right from wrong.

RIA POV

Currently,

“You’re so different Ri. I hardly recognize you”

Yes. You are right Lia. I’m different now and I don’t know who you are.

“Not really. I’m still the same as before,” I smiled and took the powder out of my pouch. I faced the mirror while looking at her reflection.

I put some blush on my cheeks and lipstick on my lips. My feet were trembling cause after I learned the truth about her identity, it’s my first time seeing her again not as friend but as an enemy.

“Steven is married to Amanda,”

I stopped for a moment and looked at her again who was looking at me seriously. As if like, she’s observing my reactions.

“Yeah, I know,”

I forced a smile and continued retouching. This is insane! For the first time in my life, I’m faking my feeling to my friend. Wait- did she really consider me a friend?

“Are you okay?” she asked wondering why I looked like calm after she said that Steven married Amanda, You cannot hurt me with that one, Lia. That’s not a new for me.

“Yeah, I’m okay and it’s fine with me if he’s married with Amanda. I know there’s still an annulment,” I said smiling at her.

“WHAT?” she snapped.

I was surprised by her sudden reaction but I didn’t show it.

“I mean, what do you mean?”

“I got him before, I can get him for the second time, Lia”

There. I saw how her face crumpled which he immediately replaced with a calm face.

“You plan to steal him again?”

Again? I steal Steven to whom? Is she referring to Amanda? or….. to herself?

“Yes. That’s easy and besides I have the last card to steal him from Amanda,”

“W-What is it?”

This is funny. It’s so fun to see my ex-friend’s reaction about my teases. She looks pathetic.

“Do you want to know?” I asked, smiling. She nodded as sweat slowly dripping from her forehead.

“Well, it’s time for him to know that his son is still alive, I’m sure he will beg for me to accept him again,”

I want to believe that she had nothing to do with the accident happened to me but from what I see now, I’d rather shove her face in the toilet. She is my friend but from what I can see now, she embodied the King of the underworld.

“What? Hivo is alive?”

What I said was like a nightmare to her. If she’s my friend, she should be crying with joy or at least she’s breathing a sigh of relief that my son is safe, but no, I see the opposite in her reaction.

It looks like she’s raging that my son was alive after all these years.

I was shaking with anger.

We almost died then. My son cried a lot because of what happened.

“Why? Why do you look like that? Aren’t you happy that Hivo alive?”

“W-What? O-Of c-course I’m happy,” she said unable to look at me now.

“Why isn’t that what I see on your face?”

“I’m happy Ria. I’m just… right… I’m dizzy. Excuse me,” she said and rushed out of the restroom.

I didn’t move yet as tears slowly pouring from my eyes.

Why? Why we ended up like this, Lashnia?

When I got out of the powder room, I saw my secretary waiting for me. I also saw Steven not so far away. He’s looking at me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. Next to him are his friends together with my friends.

I want to approach them but if I do that, it might ruin my plan.

It’s better just like this. They are my friends and I love them. Then, my eyes came back to Steven, and there’s a longing in his eyes. He’s indeed the father of my children. Our little fellas carried his features as well as his mannerisms.

“Wife, you are looking at him again,” Vios whispered to me. I just pinched him and drifted off when he put his hand on my waist and took me to the meeting hall.
