“Wait for me first,” I said and Vios rolled his eyes on me.

“Here you are again. You took too long to get dressed. I was telling you earlier we were leaving early. How on Earth you’re not done preparing?

“Vios, I’m a woman!” I said, as if telling him that that was the answer why I took too long to prepare.

“Wow, wake up! You’re not a virgin anymore,”

Annoyed, I threw my heel at him.

“Your mouth is no longer a virgin,” I said.

“Ria, stop throwing things like that. It’s dangerous. What if you hit my beautiful face?”

“If you don’t stop your mouth, I’ll feed you this bag I’m holding,”

“Wow! You’re just bragging that your bag is expensive. Fabulous!”

Without a word, I immediately threw the other pair of my heels at him. This time, I hit him hard.

“That’s what you got for annoying me,” I said and got into my car.

I waited two minutes before he followed.

“Don’t call me wife. I’m not your wife. You’re ugly,” the fool just laughed at me. He’s following me around just to annoy me.

When we arrived at the site, it wasn’t that hot because it looked like it was going to rain today. Vios and I met Steven who was looking at Vios, angrily. Oh, what day is today and someone is having a bad day?

When he looked at me, he sneered at me! Woah!

“Hello my friend,” Vios came to shake Steven’s hand but Steven shook Vios’s hands away and approached me and took my hand.

“Come with me,” he said to me and pulled me away from Vios but before that could happen, Vios chased after me and pulled my other hand.

“I’m with her so she will stick with me all day,” Vios said with his serious face. They glared at each other.

“Come with me wife,” Vios took my hand held by Steven. But Steven immediately took it back.

“She’s not your wife,”

“She’s not yours too,”

I took my hand from both of them and looked at them evilly.

“You two should go home. I don’t need you here,” what are they doing? This is time for work.

“Are they all right ma’am?” Engr. Castro said while looking at my back.

“Don’t mind them. Anyway, any update?”

“Umm. Come. I will show you the minor things that we will replace in the original plan. Give me your insights about this,”

I looked at the two again and they were still glaring at each other.

At lunchtime, Vios sat on my left and Steven on my right. If they’re going to fight again, I swear, I’m gonna punch them straight to their faces.

“If you’re going to fight, then fight somewhere out of my sight,” they didn’t say a word so I continued eating.

We were currently eating when Angel Delos Reyes suddenly arrived. We we’re in the area nad we’re having a meal with all the people part of this project.

“Oh, you’re already eating. I have Afritada.. Here, have a taste of my dish,”

“I cooked a lot. Don’t be shy.” She said to that laborer before she glance at me. “How about you ma’am Ria? You want some?” I smiled and nodded but she turned to Steven suddenly before I dig my spoon to the bowl she’s holding.

“Oh wait, I’ll give it to Mr. Alvante first. He should taste my afritada,”

I clenched my teeth at her rudeness. Should I exclude her to this project? Steven just smiled at her and refused to eat her dish. I smiled secretly.

When the day was over, I looked for Vios to tell him that we’re going home together since I didn’t bring my car. It was his car we used earlier.

“Take care of her. She’s important to me. I’m afraid she’ll do something bad to herself,” I heard him talking to someone over the phone. Who is he referring to?

“Vios,”

He was surprised when I called him. Fear was evident on his face. Why? Did something happen?

“Are you okay? Who is that?”

“It’s nothing. I’m fine. Have you been there for a while?”

“Oh no. I just arrived. Umm, can I ride with you? I didn’t bring my car,”

“Ohh.. I’m going somewhere later. I’m sorry, Ria,” he said.

“Is it urgent?”

“Yes,” Oh. Is it really important?

“Alright. Take care then. I’ll just grab a taxi later,”

He kissed my cheek and left in a hurry. “You take care. I’m sorry I can’t send you home,” he said.

I watched him until he disappeared from my sight.

When I turned my eyes to the road, I saw Steven looking at me sadly.

He approached slowly, and when he stopped in front of me, he took his handkerchief and wiped my cheek that Vios kissed as if there were germs attached to it.

I wanted to leave but I couldn’t move my foot while staring at his eyes that are gloomy just like the weather today.

“It’s heavy inside babe,” he began.

“It’s painful to see you with that man,” he added.

“I want to punch him but I know you will be angry. I want to curse him but I have no right because he is the one who fulfilled the responsibility that I should be doing,” he said.

“I know you two are friends. I also know that he purposely annoys me by being clingy to you. Maybe I’m just hurt because I know everything he said were true. I’m annoyed because he’s there with you instead of me. I’m really annoyed because of that.”

Insecurities. I thought only us girls has it but it turns out that those who are not used to it will feel it. Steven has everything cause he is rich, handsome and he came from a prominent family but here he is, telling me all his insecurities.

“Do you want to come with me?” I asked

“Where?”

“At Hivo’s school. I’ll pick him up now,”

His face seemed to be cheered up by that. You can see the joy on his face. I never thought that with that simple words, his aura would change. And even more, I did not expect that he would suddenly hugged me.

“Thank you,”

“I do really miss my son. So much! Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. I’ve wanted this to happen for a long time. I really want to hug and see him,”

Steven is crying. He is this vulnerable when it comes to his son. And here I am, being selfish.

“Both of you are the reason why I’m fighting everyday babe even though I’m already tired. I was so scared when you said that we would meet in court if I insisted on seeing our son. You two are important to me, that’s why I don’t want to lose you.”

I held his hand and smiled at him with sincerity. “Let’s go to our son. He’s already waiting for us,”
