The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 164

Chapter 164

Ken sucked in a cold breath in response to Ivy’s words, unsure how to respond. However, the person lying on the bed pretending to be a corpse could no longer contain himself and immediately rose to his feet. “You wish to cremate me so quickly?” Wyatt’s chest was violently heaving, but no one knew whether it was due to suffocation or anger. After a car accident, he eventually regained consciousness, but he came dangerously close to death from his anger toward Ivy! When Wyatt awoke, Ken vividly described how worried and desperate Ivy had been. Wyatt felt a surge of vitality in his body once more. ‘It appears as though I wasn’t injured in vain!’ Regrettably, he could not see how heartbroken Ivy had been for him. As a result, Wyatt came up with pretending to be dead. “Perhaps I can use this as an opportunity to reconcile with her.” On the other hand, Ivy inquired about his funeral arrangements immediately upon seeing him DEAD. Wyatt was unable to bear it. Ivy stood there with a serene expression; her arms crossed across her chest as she looked at him. “Are you sure you weren’t dead?” Wyatt was at a loss for words. It was acceptable if she did not show him the warmth and affection he anticipated, but why did she appear disappointed when she discovered he was not dead? Wyatt’s jaws clenched, and his face was contemptuous. His eyes grew redder at the corners, and he locked his gaze on her without speaking. Ivy remained silent for a brief moment. Her heart grew sour. She averted her mocking gaze. “I’m relieved that you’re still alive, Wyatt.” She was delighted that he was still alive. Wyatt smiled as soon as he heard this. The previous gloom vanished in an instant. He extended his hand and drew her into his arms.

Ivy was unprepared for him to be so strong when he was injured, and as a result, she collided with his hug. The refreshing minty scent of his body washed over her awareness instantly. He had a strong and steady heartbeat. Her eyes grew reddened subconsciously. She was aware that he was clutching her tightly, but she refrained from resisting out of fear of aggravating his wounds. He gently stroked her hair. He spoke in a raspy, low tone. “I came dangerously close to never seeing you again.” This was the most unfortunate thing that had ever happened to him. For a brief moment, the air was silent. His heart raced as he sensed her warmth. Ivy raised her eyes and helplessly rolled her eyes. “Are you finished? Or do you want me to break free by force?” Wyatt let go of her reluctantly. He smiled, his face pale and frail. “I am no match for you at the moment.” “Ahem!” Ken stood at the door, unsure whether to remain or leave. Did no one seem to mind that he was the third wheel? The two individuals exchanged glances. Wyatt’s eyes were piercing, cold, and deadly as if he intended to skin him alive. Ken twitched his lips. ‘I did not intend to do it!’ “Ignore me. Consider me to be air!” He bowed his head and attempted to flee, but Ivy intervened. “Wait!” ‘The day of reckoning has arrived!’ Ken swore silently in his heart. Ken turned to see Ivy had already taken a few steps back from Wyatt. She fixed a cold and scrutinizing gaze on Ken. “When you called, you informed me of some bad news. What was the intended meaning of that?” Ken froze and cast a glance at Wyatt, but the latter appeared to have no intention of assisting him and preferred to place the blame squarely on Ken’s shoulders.

‘Now I’m supposed to cover for my boss?!’ Ken forced a smile and explained, “Oh, I could not complete my sentence. What I intended to convey was bad news: President Reed has awoken and wishes to be discharged! Hehe…” He racked his brains to concoct this fabrication. Ivy smiled and raised her eyes to Wyatt. “Would you like to be released?” Wyatt remained silent for a brief moment before nodding. “Working here is inconvenient. I wish to return home.” His serious expression indicated that he was not joking. Ivy gave a solemn nod. After all, there would be professionals caring for him at home, allowing him to recover more quickly. “Then take care.” Ivy chose not to intervene in his hospital discharge. Ivy’s shirt hem was tugged before she could leave. Wyatt leaned forward in his hospital bed. He had to exert considerable effort to tug on her shirt. He pulled the muscles in his right leg inadvertently. His face flushed with pain, breaking out in a cold sweat. Ivy was startled and made a hasty end. “What is the matter?” Wyatt lowered his head and braced himself against the pain. His temple veins were swollen. It was apparent how much discomfort he was in. “Call a doctor!” Ivy locked her gaze on Ken. Ken came to a halt as he rushed out. Wyatt could not bear the sight of Ivy in such distress. He lifted his arm and gently touched her head. Ivy comes to a halt, but she does not flinch in fear of him tearing his wound. “I’m all right. It is not painful.” His voice was hushed and incoherent, but he still smiled at her. Ivy’s heart slightly trembled. She was well aware that he must be in excruciating pain. A team of doctors arrived in less than a minute. Six experts examined Wyatt.

Ivy had the foresight to clear the way for them. Wyatt’s gaze remained fixed on her as if he didn’t want her to leave. She sat in the doorway, her head bowed, communicating with someone. The examination concluded ten minutes later. “President Reed, your right leg will require time to heal due to the fracture. Avoid strenuous activities during this time. You, too, are unable to walk. Rest for at least six months to regain full mobility. Otherwise, it may harm your gait.” Wyatt’s only serious injury resulting from this accident was a fractured right calf. Wyatt uttered a careless “mm.” “It’s best if you have someone take care of your needs full-time,” the doctors continued helplessly. “Otherwise, it will harm your physical recovery.” Wyatt cast a dark-eyed glance at the doctor to say, “Why are you so naggy?” The doctors concluded their remarks and exited the room. Only Ivy and Wyatt remained inside due to Ken’s departure from the doctors. Ivy noticed a steel brace attached to Wyatt’s lower right leg after they left. Her heart stopped beating, but her face remained immobile. “I’ll arrange for someone to look after you.” “Why don’t you just take care of me?” Wyatt smiled; his eyes gentle. “After all, I was injured solely due to your actions. “Are you going to say ‘no’?” ‘This heinous man!’ Ivy’s gratitude for him vanished in an instant. Indeed, he was the type to climb if given a ladder immediately and would not fear falling to his death. Ivy’s eyes rolled so hard that they nearly rolled to the back of her head. “In your dreams!” she scoffed coldly. Wyatt gave a faint smile. “If you look after me, we can call it even. Or... Do you wish to owe me indefinitely?” His tone of voice shifted. “I’m not opposed to it, but my grandfather is determined to visit your home and propose a marriage alliance between our families. Is your father going to be

able to say no this time?” The room was deafeningly quiet. Leo would lack the will to refuse following this incident if it actually occurred. If only once, Leo could put on a brave face and repay the debt in another manner. However, twice was a little excessive. If word of this spread, the Morgans would be labeled as ingrates. Don Reed was a determined individual; who cares if he was hell-bent on this? Ivy’s expression shifted several times before she finally inhaled deeply. “Fine. Only while you are recovering.” She’d feel better if she agreed regardless. After all, Ivy did not wish to owe Wyatt an excessive amount. Wyatt made no attempt to conceal his joy, as he did not anticipate Ivy agreeing quickly. Ivy squinted. “However,... I’m not interested in visiting the Reed Mansion.” She desired that he remain in the hospital, where doctors and nurses could assist him. Wyatt abruptly cut off the second half of her sentence before she could finish. “Certainly not. We’re returning to Hudson Yards.” Hudson Yards was their wedding venue. Ivy gave a slight frown as her heart sank. ‘Damnit! I agreed too quickly!’Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
