Chapter 202
Chapter 202
Before Ivy could say anything, she noticed Avery Lamour dash upstairs, Duke’s suit jacket draped over her. Avery’s scurrying away was truly pitiful, but no one noticed. Ivy had a calm expression on her face as she looked at Wyatt. His eyes were as dark as ink. She felt a dull pain in her chest and took a deep breath. “Wyatt Reed, I don’t want to torture you,” she said quietly after the pain subsided. “I want you to be relieved as soon as possible.” Her tone was light, calm, and solemn. “It’s not that I haven’t considered our relationship during this period. Mr. Reed, thank you for your efforts on my behalf, but... I apologize. I just can’t imagine ever being with you again.” Ivy spoke with unusual calm. Wyatt’s face was ice cold. His eyes were closed, and his body was tense. His fingers were white from tightly clenching the armrest. Ivy, too, felt a twitch of pain, but it was only for a brief moment. She quickly regained control. It was better to rip the band-aid off. Rather than becoming entangled in this indefinitely, it was preferable to make a clean-cut. That way, they’d both be relieved. During this time together, Ivy was finally able to see the situation objectively. Wyatt did not affect Ivy. Rather, she pities her former self and wonders why she did not receive his serious treatment from the start. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt and the more she wanted to get away from it. Ivy was heartbroken when she saw the pain and suppressed emotions in Wyatt’s eyes. It was a bit suffocating. For a brief moment, she lowered her gaze and remained silent. She raised her head and smiled. “It’s getting late. Thank you for directing me here. I’ll return first.” She stood up and walked away. “Ivy,” he called out to her, a pale smile on his face. “You friend-zoned me? I’m not going to accept it!” Wyatt’s expression was tense as he looked at her. His voice was raspy and low. “No matter what you say, I’m not going to give up on you. I’ll keep waiting for you whether you’re happy or not.”
Ivy abruptly exited the party without greeting anyone. Wyatt narrowed his eyes as she turned to leave. He became aware that his body was tense. He was drenched in a cold sweat the moment he relaxed. As he leaned back against the back of the wheelchair, his pale face was hidden in the shadows. Ivy informed Marco that she would be leaving. She didn’t call a taxi and planned to walk back to the hotel. The villa was close to the hotel. Getting some fresh air may also help her mood. Marco caught up to her not long after she walked out. Ivy was still a little taken aback. “Isn’t the party still going on, Mr. Seely?” Marco laughed. Even after sprinting to catch up to her, his face was not flushed or panting. He maintained his poise and calm demeanor. “It’s fine. How can I let a little lady go back by herself?” ‘Little lady?’ Ivy took a breather. This title appealed to her. She laughed and felt at ease. “Thank you, Mr. Seely, for walking me back.” “It’s an honor for me.” Marco’s eyes were bright and gleaming, and he smiled nicely. “Mr. Reed’s planned trip is quite memorable. This, I believe, should be the final stop. Do you think it’s unfortunate it’s coming to an end?” Ivy gave him a serious look before laughing. “I find it unfortunate not to make money.” Marco nodded. “Indeed.” After all, they were both business people. The two of them walked in the dim evening light, with neon lights flashing around them. Ivy squinted her eyes and savored the cool breeze on her face. When Marco, who was standing next to her, saw her like this, he softened his gaze. “Ms. Morgan…” “Hmm?” “Have you ever considered starting a new relationship? With me?” When Marco’s words were spoken, the air between them became deafeningly quiet. The silence was intertwined with the gentle breeze. Ivy came to a halt in her steps and looked at him quietly. Her eyes were a little icy.
Marco waited a few seconds and did not receive an answer, so he did not allow the situation to become awkward. “You didn’t mishear me, and I’m not going back on my words,” he chuckled. His expression was solemn and direct. His voice was calm. “As I previously stated, I’m delighted that you’ve chosen me as your new love to deal with Mr. Reed and the others. Ms. Morgan, it’s not out of politeness. It’s more about how I feel about you.” Marco’ lips curled into a decent smile that was neither too humble nor too arrogant. Ivy’s eyes glowed with incomprehension and bewilderment. “Did you have any misunderstandings as a result of this matter? “I didn’t intend to... Of course, I know you’re not going to stir up trouble and hype about this intentionally. I just thought it was the right time to bring it up and that I had a chance to win you over. Although I will not pursue you in such a forceful and eccentric manner as Mr. Reed did, I am very serious about my feelings for you.” Ivy froze for a moment as she looked into Marco’s sincere eyes and frank face. She slowly lifted her head to look up at him. Their shadows were stretched and still under the streetlights. Marco’s solemnity and humility gave her a warm feeling in her heart. Their evenly matched backgrounds would be a win-win situation if Ivy married Marco. Perhaps Marco was someone Wyatt couldn’t put a stop to. On the other hand, Ivy did not want to use herself as a trade for interests, nor did she want to use Marco to persuade Wyatt to abandon her. That would be a disservice to Marco. Ivy was deafeningly quiet for a few seconds. Her heart was pounding, but her face was serene as she spoke. “Thank you very much, Mr. Seely, for your—” “Ms. Morgan, please don’t friend-zone me just yet. I’m not looking for a relationship right now. I want you to know that I intend to pursue you.” Marco’s eyes glowed with a faint smile that seemed to reflect the millions of stars in the galaxy. Ivy’s heart trembled slightly, but she quickly regained control. She smiled politely.
“Mr. Seely, we’re both businesspeople; don’t let personal issues interfere with our collaboration.” ‘Don’t call off our collaboration if I reject you! I ‘I’m out to make a lot of money!’ Marco couldn’t help but laugh, his eyes filled with helplessness. “Of course not. Interests come first.” Ivy agreed with this viewpoint. ‘Interest first!’ The two of them agreed, and Ivy’s stress dissipated. She had friend-zoned two men in one night, but she didn’t feel good about it. We’re back at the hotel. Ivy packed her belongings and prepared to return to New York the next day. Leo agreed as well. After all, if Leo did not return soon, Hades would devour all of his fish. The following morning Pierce ran over in his pajamas. Ivy’s heart melted when she saw how cute and tender, he was. He insisted on taking the same flight as Ivy when he found out she was leaving. Nobody could convince him otherwise. Marco had some pressing business to attend to, so he had no choice but to leave Pierce with Ivy and fly alone. Ivy wasn’t sure if it was deliberate. She was relieved when she didn’t see Marco first thing in the morning. After all, the man confessed his love to her so unexpectedly the night before. It would be awkward if they met in the morning. Wyatt booked the flight because he wanted to return with his friends. He had been waiting in the hotel lobby for quite some time. He was no longer confined to a wheelchair. He sat on the sofa, a cane propped up beside him. His face was cold, and he exuded an imposing and unapproachable aura. Jimmy trembled as he stood to the side, clutching a husky. ‘What’s the deal?’ Ivy nodded politely to Wyatt without showing any emotion. Wyatt silently took his cane and struggled to get to his feet. “Let’s go,” he said in his usual tone. Jimmy welcomed them. “Good morning, Chairman and Mrs. Morgan. This is Mr. Elrod’s dog, which he requested be returned to New York. We’ll leave it here if you don’t feel at ease.” All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
The husky shook its head and stared blankly at Jimmy, its tongue protruding from its mouth. It appeared surprised as if it understood what Jimmy was saying.
