The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 206

Chapter 206

Ivy received a message from Liam Saver inviting her to a project discussion for the project’s next step. Avery Lamour received an induction notice at the same time. Avery temporarily resided in a high-end apartment near Reed Corporation, with good facilities and a quiet and elegant atmosphere. When she was given the go-ahead to begin work, she was supposed to report to ABC Corporation, not Morgan Corporation. Greg was the one who got in touch with her. Liam Saver was waiting at the entrance to greet Ivy when she arrived at ABC Corporation. Wyatt graciously opened the door for Ivy, who walked in. Liam smiled as he greeted her. “Ms. Morgan, you’re always on time.” “I don’t have a habit of being late,” Ivy explained. They chatted and went to the elevator, just in time to see Greg escorting Avery, who was carrying a stack of materials, around the office. Greg remained motionless and respectfully bowed. “Good morning, Ms. Morgan. Meet the new employee.” Avery did not greet them and instead stared at the beautiful Ivy. She expected Ivy to notice her, but Ivy didn’t even bother to look at her. She didn’t care who Greg was introducing to her. Ivy didn’t pause for a second and simply nodded with a faint smile. Her demeanor was noble as she followed ABC Corporation President Liam Saver into the conference room. Avery’s hands were clenched as she stared at Ivy’s back. It felt like she saw Ivy for the first time, but she knew it wasn’t. Avery would never be able to achieve or imitate Ivy’s aloofness and pride in her unconscious movements. “All right, Ms. Lamour. Let’s go. Get three cups of coffee, two without sugar and milk, and one with milk and no sugar,” Greg said flatly. Avery Lamour nodded and walked into the kitchen. of the family business. Gil Lamour, too, couldn’t stop praising his eldest daughter. Gil Lamour never recognized Avery as his daughter to please Joy. Avery would have been stuck in that cramped and old apartment if Gil didn’t need an unmarried daughter for a marriage alliance. Avery carried the coffee tray into the conference room. She noticed Wyatt talking with Liam Saver at the door as soon as she opened it. Wyatt was unconcerned and calm, but when he caught sight of Ivy across the room, his gaze softened. It was a far cry from Wyatt’s eyes’ disgust and indifference when he looked at Avery, which caused her to indulge in it. The three people at the table appeared to be in their own world, untouchable by the rest of us. Wyatt looked up to see Avery Lamour standing there. His face immediately turned cold and unappealing. Avery pretended not to notice and quietly walked in to set the coffee cups down. “It’s your coffee.” Ivy heard her voice and turned to face her. Wyatt’s cold voice cut her off before she could say anything. “What brings you here?” Wyatt cast a glance at Liam because this was his business. ‘What brought this woman here?’ Liam innocently shrugged his shoulders. He had a flash of inspiration. “This should be the new Morgan Corporation assistant. Didn’t Jack require more help?” Liam inquired of Ivy. Ivy was deafeningly quiet for a fraction of a second. She nodded, looked at Avery, and said solemnly, “Because you’re new here, try to adjust well. Don’t let your position cause a hiccup in the company’s operations.” For a brief moment, Avery was tense. She had not anticipated Ivy’s reaction. Calm, poised, and perhaps a little condescending. This simple statement served as an acknowledgment of her existence and a warning. Avery nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.

“Yes, Ms. Morgan.” Avery was well aware that if it weren’t for her father, she would not have gotten this assistant position despite her qualifications and abilities. Gil Lamour wanted Avery to imitate Ivy to access Wyatt’s inner circle. Wyatt smirked. His eyes were cold, and his face was calm, but he was uneasy. He studied Ivy’s face, hoping to glean some information from it. ‘It doesn’t make sense... Morgan Corporation and Lamour Corporation have no business dealings. Is it just a coincidence?’ Avery offered the two men two cups of plain coffee and Ivy a cup of coffee with milk. She then stepped aside to prepare the meeting minutes for them. Ivy took a small sip and set it aside, never again touching the cup of coffee. She then returned to the earlier topic. “Mr. Seely wants to invest more capital because he is excited about the prospects of artificial intelligence and believes in our domestic R&D capabilities, but he has one request. After the project has matured, he wants it to be listed in Italy. This move will undoubtedly jolt Wall Street and the rest of the world.” Wyatt’s eyes were clouded over with gloom. He always worked objectively and kept personal and professional matters separate. His voice was flat. “He’s confused about what’s going on at home because he’s been in Italy for too long. It does not sit well with me.” “Mr. Seely’s suggestion is a great deal. With the current situation, if we are listed in Italy, we will attract more investors and global attention, propelling our project to the forefront. We’ll be impenetrable. But... I feel like it’s a betrayal of our country.” Ivy frowned and tapped her fingers on the table as if she was contemplating something. When Avery noticed this, she hurriedly went up to refill Ivy’s coffee with a smidgeon of caution.
