The whole plan
Blaine finally got it! He got Isabella to tell him his father’s plan and the little bit she told him was horrific. His father’s plan is insane and he cannot sit and watch his father ruin his life. It was this thought he had in mind when he left his room that night and went downstairs to his library to speak to his father on the phone.
” Hello,” he said when his father answered his call.
” Miguel. What is it?”
” I want you to tell me what you’re trying to do,” Blaine said and his father remained quiet on the phone.
” What do you mean?”
” Tell me what all of this is about. Several years back you led us on what you promised would be our final mission but then the mission failed. You couldn’t get your money and I saw the building blow up in pieces. Was it a bad thing that I fled? Was I supposed to just hang around and let the police find me? Was I? ”
” What are you going on about?”
” Why have you chosen to destroy my life all of a sudden? I have moved on, I’ve been making money. I even got married, yet you orchestrated the divorce between me and Victoria why?”
” You chose to call me by 2 am to ask me random questions?”
” These are not random questions! This is my life we’re talking about here because technically I am not under you anymore.”
His father exhaled before he responded on the phone. ” Are you done? Is that all you would like to know?”
” So you don’t deny it?”
” Is that all you want to know Miguel? Answer me because, after today, I will not be so generous to answer any further questions. So for the last time is that all you want to know?”
” No”
” Then what more?”
” I need to know why you’ve caused Victoria and I to divorce, why you’ve TRULY made me marry Isabella ad why you’re making both of them including Mavis live in the same house with me. I’m not a pawn so just tell me what this is about!”
” Hmmm. Isabella said something to you didn’t she?”

” Did she or did she not tell you anything”
” Answer my question?”
” Answer mine first.”
” She did not. I don’t know why you’d think I’d ask a scatterbrain like her something so delicate.”
” Scatterbrain? Isabella is no scatterbrain”
” Well, I don’t care. Just tell me what you’re up to”
” I want to save my lifework”
” Excuse me?”
” Someone is threatening to expose me and my dealings.” He said and then this time it was Blaine who went silent.
” I escaped from the fire. Pedro escaped as well but it was only us. Everyone else died. It was not a stunt as you suspect. But I went into hiding afterward and when the police came they started to suspect foul play especially because of the truck of money that was left back there. Fortunately, our fingerprint wasn’t on the truck because we wore gloves but someone, one of the policemen there was unto us. I don’t know how.”
” I’ve been living as a regular wealthy man who everyone here has always believed earned his money through different businesses but this unknown man has discovered everything about me.”
” How?”
” I don’t know. Since I’ve been here, he’s not been able to find me because I’m sitting right under his nose, playing the part of “just a successful businessman” while he’s looking for a mafia ring leader.”
” Okay. He won’t find out will he?”
” He will when he starts searching right under his nose.”
” But what does this have to do with me?”
” Because he found out about me through you.”
” I thought you said you didn’t know how he found you?”
” Yes, I don’t know how he found out about you. He had been sending me messages with a private number, saying that he has found you in London and that he will expose your location to my past enemies, thinking that you and I were together. But I didn’t believe him. I thought he was lying… I thought you were dead. So, I sent Pedro to find you at that location and threaten you to come back. But even that was a trap, they followed Pedro that’s how they found you and your companions and started wreaking havoc on you all. Trust me, Miguel, I never wanted this to happen to you.”
” So now that I’m here…” Blaine said as he tried to make sense of everything his father had said.
“… the man now knows you’re here. He does not know your face yet because Pedro ensured he eliminated those who saw your face at the hospital.”
” But don’t you think bringing me here is too risky?”
” No, he hasn’t searched this place because he doubts I would remain in a place that carries so much evidence of my dealings.”
” But what if he starts searching for you here in Columbia?”
” That’s why I brought you and those women here. I want us to look like a typical family just in case this spy comes along. He will be so blinded by the family drama that he will genuinely doubt we have anything to do with this.”
” So you want us to pretend? Act out or play out your script?”
” Sometimes a distraction is the best disguise. Miguel if we’re known as the controversial family – the one where the billionaire son lives in the same house as his wife, ex-wife, and a mistress who all love him, no one would believe we have any connections whatsoever to the word, “Mafia”.
Blaine didn’t say anything in response. He just thought the plan was both risky and genius, but he was leaning toward the risky part.
” I should’ve told you about it. I just… thought you wouldn’t agree but to be honest, you don’t have much of a choice on this, except you have a better plan.”
” I don’t but the women won’t like this one bit”
” It’s either that or we all go to jail. We’re all in this now” his father said.
” How long do I have to do this?” Blaine asked.
” Six months. That will give me enough time to hide my trails”
” And then?”
” Then you can go back to living your life in London.”
That was all he wanted to hear.
