The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 103

Chapter 103

"Whatever, I'm just venting. I won't bore you with the details," Adrian said, noticing Jamie was about to

get duped.

"Which mall are you at? I'm coming over," Jamie replied.

Adrian sent him the location, and Jamie arrived in no time.

Exaggerating the whole situation, Adrian said, "Ronan couldn't care less about Cordelia. He's having

her put up a front, yet he won't give her a dime. She has to return all the clothes he bought."

"Which clothes did she return?"

Adrian pointed them out to Jamie one by one.

"Pack up all these clothes. I'll buy her a few more..." Jamie's thoughts wandered to Cordelia's height as

he spoke. He had a great eye for fashion, so the clothes he picked for Cordelia were absolutely Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

stunning.

"Also, could you arrange a delivery to her house? Here's the address..." Jamie was typing Cordelia's

address on his phone as he spoke. "I'll pay extra for it to be delivered by tomorrow afternoon."

"Whose name should we put on the delivery?" The salesclerk asked, seeing Jamie as a big spender

who had just dropped 30 grand in their store.

With a slight frown, Jamie replied, "Just say... say it's from her husband."

Jamie's intention was to embarrass Ronan by claiming he was the one who sent the gifts, even though

he clearly wasn't.

Adrian watched the whole thing unfold with great amusement.

The next day, as Cordelia and Ronan were having dinner at home, there was a knock on the door. A

woman in a uniform walked in, holding a bunch of clothes from the same brand Cordelia had returned

the day before. There were at least a dozen pieces.

Cordelia recognized her as the salesclerk from the store where she'd returned the clothes.

"What's wrong?" Cordelia asked, thinking there might be an issue with the returned items.

"Oh, your husband bought back all the clothes you returned to our store yesterday. Plus, he bought you

a few more items. Would you like to take a look?" The clerk explained.

Upon hearing this, Ronan paused his eating, then resumed without a word.

Cordelia looked at Ronan tenderly. Although she didn't like extravagance and thought the clothes were

too expensive, she was moved by this gesture from him.

"You really didn't have to," Cordelia said to Ronan. "They're so expensive, and I might not even wear

them."

"Don't mention it!" Ronan replied indifferently, wiping his hands with a napkin and tossing it aside.

"Keep the ones you like."

With that, he went upstairs.

Downstairs, Barney said with a grin, "That's just how Ronan is. He's not a big talker."

Despite knowing that their marriage had an expiration date, Cordelia felt a sudden sense of

contentment. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't end after all, considering how well Ronan treated

her. She even found herself feeling a bit jealous of Ronan's future wife.

Upstairs, Ronan was on the phone discussing the acquisition of City Mall, the same mall where

Cordelia had returned the clothes. He needed an answer by the following morning.

The next day, while Cordelia was at work, she received a message from Jamie. [Did you get the

clothes I bought you?]

Cordelia was puzzled. [What clothes?]

[The clothes I bought for you last night. Did you get them?] Jamie then sent a series of pictures of the

clothes Cordelia had returned the day before.

[You bought them? I thought they were from my husband?] Cordelia was confused. If they weren't from

Ronan, why would he claim they were? Given his standing, he did not need to lie. Wouldn't he be

embarrassed if his lie got exposed?

Despite her confusion, Cordelia had a hunch. The clothes must have been bought by Jamie. She

pondered on how to question Ronan about this, treading lightly so as not to mention Jamie. If Ronan

found out the clothes were from Jamie, she would be in a pickle.

After work, Cordelia got into Ronan's car.

"Darling, all the clothes I returned are back. You bought them again for me. I really love them! Thank

you," Cordelia said.

"As long as you're happy." Ronan replied. He knew who bought the clothes and noticed Cordelia

started calling him darling again, a sign she had something on her mind. This implied she knew who

bought the clothes and that person might have spilled the beans.

"At first, I thought they weren't from you," Cordelia hinted.

Ronan glanced at Cordelia and asked, "So, do you have another man in your life? Or are you not

satisfied with me?"

"No, I didn't mean that at all," Cordelia quickly clarified.

When they got home, a person who looked like a salesclerk was waiting, claiming to deliver cosmetics

and jewelry to Cordelia.

Cordelia looked at Ronan, slightly puzzled. The clerk was also from City Mall. Why had staff from this

mall been delivering things to her lately? This made her think the gifts might not have been from Jamie

after all.

"Just accept them." Ronan said to Cordelia.

The cosmetics were very expensive, and although Cordelia didn't know much about jewelry, she

guessed they wouldn't be cheap either.

After the clerk left, Cordelia asked Ronan, "Why has this mall been sending me stuff lately?"

"Oh, I'm planning to acquire that mall. Here's the proposal," Ronan handed Cordelia the acquisition

proposal. "They're probably trying to curry favor with you, hoping I'll up the price."

Cordelia was taken aback. So was Jamie the one lying?
