The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 116

Chapter 116

"Shall we head back together this afternoon, Cordelia?" Manda proposed as they were wrapping up

work.

"Nah, I'm good. My residence is close by, and I still have some overtime to do." Cordelia was scared of

what happened last time repeating itself, so she politely declined.

"Alright, then I'll be taking off now," said Manda.

"Sure."

As Manda came down the stairs, she saw Jamie waiting for her in the company lobby.

"Mr. Colby, let's hit the bookstore," Manda said. "I hate to be a bother, but I could use your company."

"No worries, feel free to hit me up anytime about accounting matters," Jamie spoke to Manda in a

slightly distracted manner. His eyes were darting around the lobby, scanning the people exiting the

building, but he never spotted the person he was looking for.

As Ronan was leaving, he saw Jamie's back and wondered, “What's he doing here?”

Manda was just an ordinary employee that Ronan wasn't familiar with. He only heard the name from

Cordelia a bunch of times. The Finance Department was hiring, but it hadn't caught his attention yet, so

he had no idea who was leaving with Jamie.

Ronan called Cordelia, "Where are you at?"

"I'm still in the office, got some work left."

"You're not seeing me off?" Knowing Jamie didn't run into Cordelia, Ronan felt relieved.

"I'm busy."

"So I'm really leaving then?" Ronan teased Cordelia again.

"Alright, goodbye." After finishing her sentence, Cordelia promptly hung up.

It seemed like Cordelia didn't know Jamie was here. The only thing Ronan didn't get, why was Jamie

here?

Inside Jamie's car.

"Mr. Colby, where are we off to?" Manda asked. This was her first successful date with Jamie. She

originally wanted to make Cordelia jealous, but Cordelia turned her down.

She had tried asking Jamie out a few times before but was never successful. Therefore, Manda

decided to work at Lumos Enterprises, despite knowing people would laugh at her. However, Jamie

was very fond of Cordelia, and since Cordelia worked in the Finance Department, perhaps Jamie would

come looking for her.

Indeed, Jamie showed up, even though his eyes were constantly searching for Cordelia.

"To Pages & Prose," Jamie said.

"Alright." Manda nodded seriously.

At Pages & Prose.

The book about financial cost management was sold out. Fortunately, the store owner was well-

acquainted with Jamie, considering he'd done a book signing there before. They told him they'd deliver

the book to him when it was back in stock.

"Once the owner delivers the book to me, I'll give it to you, alright?" Jamie told Manda.

"Sure, sure. Thank you." Manda's eyes sparkled. She thought, “Delivering the book is a great excuse

for another date.”

"Don't mention it,” Jamie replied, seemingly lost in thought.

They also had dinner together, and then Jamie drove Manda home.

The next day, Jamie was out of town on a business trip. He was needed for a training session and

would be gone for approximately a week.

Around the third day, the book arrived. Jamie wasn’t in Millstone, so he asked his driver, Adrian, to

deliver the book to Manda. At 5 p.m., Adrian was waiting outside Lumos Enterprises, smoking a

cigarette, and waiting for Manda to show up. Jamie had given Adrian Manda's contact info, so they had

communicated before.

However, to his surprise, it wasn't Manda who showed up, but Ronan. The tie Ronan was wearing

up trouble, not to uncover the truth.

"Where's my sister?" Adrian asked Ronan.

The relationship between Adrian and Ronan had hit rock bottom; even their greetings were laced with

hostility.

Seeing Adrian, Ronan walked over, gave him a once-over, and asked, "What are you doing at Lumos

Enterprises?"

Adrian stared at Ronan's tie, then chuckled. "Mr. Colby and Cordelia have great taste, they picked this

tie for you. You look good in it. Cordelia is smart; she knew to ask for Mr. Colby's opinion."

Ronan slightly furrowed his brows, then replied, "I guess I should thank Mr. Colby then."

After saying that, Ronan turned around and headed for the parking lot. Watching Ronan's retreating

figure, Adrian felt a sense of satisfaction. Even though Ronan had a poker face, and even had a slight

smirk, Adrian had seen the anger in his eyes.

That's exactly what he wanted!

He hoped that this would drive Ronan away from Cordelia! He would seize this opportunity and tear

them apart.
