The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 149

Chapter 149

Cordelia didn't come out for dinner all night, nor did she open the door for Ronan. She was worried that

Ronan would notice her mood swings and start asking questions. He was a smart cookie, figuring out

the truth wouldn't be hard for him.

If Ronan found out she was upset because of Jamie, who knew what he'd do. He once made Jamie

grovel before him, for buying clothes for her, only to humiliate Jamie afterwards.

So when Ronan knocked on the door and said, "Cordelia, if you don't open the door, I'm heading back

to the mansion." She responded immediately, "Go ahead!"

His pride took a hit from the curt response of his wife. He gave Shelley an awkward smile.

"Well, I'm off then." Ronan was a man of status. Being led by the nose by a girl was already

embarrassing. If he stuck around any longer, it would be even more humiliating. He took his keys and

left.

After Ronan left, Shelley knocked on Cordelia's door, asking what was wrong. Cordelia replied, "I'm

fine, you should get some sleep."

Shelley reluctantly went to her bedroom. Before leaving, she told Cordelia, "You should try to sweet-talk

Ronan tomorrow. Men need to be pampered too."

Cordelia just responded with, "Mmhm."

She absent-mindedly fiddled with her phone, trying to calm her emotions. Sending Jamie a message

now would be inappropriate. As for this whole situation, it was best to play dumb.

...

Ronan went back to Pearl Palms. His grandpa asked him, "Weren't you staying over at Della's place for

the next few days? Why are you back? How's Della's mom?"

"She's fine. I just missed you. That's all," Ronan said as he headed upstairs.

"Save it. You've got cameras in my room and a doctor on call 24/7. What more do you need to feel

secure?"

"All those are just precautionary measures, I still worry about your health." With that, Ronan went

upstairs.

Coming home tonight wasn't just because Cordelia didn't want him around, but also because he was

concerned about the content on the USB. He feared trouble could come in the dead silence of the

night.

After showering, he turned on his laptop and plugged in the USB. On it was a long video, chronicling

his early days of entrepreneurship.

In the video, he had just completed surgery and was having a heated conversation with a project

manager who didn't meet the deadline. He lost his temper, and was furious, and after his outburst, he

grabbed an ashtray and threw it at the project manager, whose forehead was bleeding.

Ronan snorted, "Deanna!"

The video file was too large to be sent via Messenger. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Deanna had to call Cordelia, hinting at a secret affair with Ronan, and then slipped the USB into his

personal bag.

Plus, the identity of the project manager was very sensitive. Deanna knew Cordelia's father was a

project manager and aimed to make Cordelia empathize and despise him, the capitalist, through this

video. If Ronan watched the video, it wouldn't matter much to Deanna. She believed Ronan was still

unaware of the cornea transplant and even less likely to know where the "poison" in the video was.

He dialed Deanna, "What's the meaning of sending this video to Cordelia?"

"Huh? You saw it? I was supposed to send the video of you being selected as one of the top ten

outstanding youths. Did I send the wrong one?" Deanna responded.

Ronan hung up. He decided to tell Deanna in the most straightforward manner that he was aware of

her secret. He wanted her to stop her behind-the-scenes maneuvers.

Ronan completely destroyed the USB.
