The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 158

Chapter 158

Emerson looked at Ronan, but Ronan stayed silent. Ronan's face was full of dissatisfaction, his gaze

falling on Cordelia. He was upset because Cordelia hadn't been home for a long time.

All for some guy, she was totally smitten.

She hadn't explained anything to him, and their communication on Messenger had been cut off for a

while.

The two of them stood in front of Samantha and Cordelia. Samantha thought to herself, “It would be fun

to embarrass Cordelia in front of Mr. Evans.”

"Cordelia, don't be mad at your husband. He didn't mean it," Samantha pretended to whisper, but made

sure Ronan and Emerson could hear.

Cordelia thought, “So Samantha knows about her and Ronan. The office gossip is really something.”

But why bring this up in front of Ronan? Was she socially awkward, or was she trying to play the good

guy?

She gave Samantha a puzzled look, then glanced at Ronan. At this point, Emerson turned his head to

look at Ronan, too.

"You should make up with him. This can't go on forever, and you have to go back home," Samantha

said again.

Cordelia gave an awkward laugh and mumbled a response. Hearing Samantha's words, Ronan

thought her way of persuading was quite good. So this was the Samantha that Adrian mentioned,

Cordelia's cousin. Although her words were a bit inappropriate, she was smart and knew how to butter

him up.

"It's not his fault he did that." Samantha added.

Cordelia looked at the elevator panel and thought, “When will this elevator reach the first floor?” She

was extremely embarrassed by her cousin. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

"I get it. Just stop." Cordelia lowered her head.

Samantha thought, “She's blushing, so my tactic worked. Next time, I should find a more embarrassing

situation to make her uncomfortable, and make her unable to stay at Lumos Enterprises.”

The elevator reached the first floor. Emerson and Ronan exited first.

"Someone's speaking up for you. That person seems to be Cordelia's relative. I bet Cordelia will be

back home soon," Emerson said.

"Stop talking nonsense!" Ronan scolded Emerson. But deep down, he was relieved.

Arriving at the lobby, Cordelia, and Samantha parted ways. Cordelia boarded the bus home.

The next day, Samantha went out to deal with business and came home early in the afternoon. Her job

was in sales, so she was usually out and about and didn't need to clock in at the office.

Adrian didn't often stay at this house.

Kendra was thrilled to see Adrian's luxurious four-bedroom house, and with the scandal at Jamie

Colby's company, her preference naturally tilted towards Adrian. But Adrian's cousin Samantha had

come to visit, and she wasn't happy, so she moved back home, and Adrian followed.

Living alone in this four-bedroom house, Samantha was quite comfortable. She was a bit in awe of

Adrian, as he claimed to have bought the house with his own money. To afford such a house in

Millstone, he must have been worth at least a few million dollars.

At four in the afternoon, the doorbell rang. Samantha was quite surprised to see who was at the door.

It was Cordelia's "husband". Unexpected gains were always pleasant.

Jamie thought the house was lent to Adrian by Cordelia, to avoid fighting with her mother over a house,

so he was kicked out, and Ronan wasn't mentioned.

So, Jamie didn't suspect Adrian and didn't know that he was now helping Ronan.

"You are...?" Jamie asked.

"I'm Adrian's cousin, Samantha. What's up?"

Samantha was thinking about how to lure Jamie to the company and introduce him to all her

colleagues. The notorious "office scandal" husband.

"I'm Jamie. I'm here to get the car keys from Adrian. I need to drive tonight to entertain clients." Jamie

originally had several cars, but they were all at his father’s house. After the scandal, he stopped going

there.

Now, the only car he had was the one in Adrian's possession.

Adrian was the driver, so of course, he had the keys. But Adrian wasn't home today. He had been out

all night, rushed home in the morning, threw the keys down, and left.

"I remember he gave me the keys this morning, might have left them at the office. Will you come with

me to get them?" Samantha suggested.

"Sure." Jamie didn't think twice.

Samantha hailed a cab, and they both headed to Lumos Enterprises.

They got out of the car, and Samantha said, "Wait here for a moment, I'll go get them."

Jamie noticed Samantha also worked at Lumos Enterprises. If he had known earlier, he wouldn't have

come. But since he's here, there's no turning back, he'll just have to tough it out.

He checked his watch. It was almost five. He was getting antsy, hoping Samantha would hurry up.

Before leaving the house, Samantha had sneakily brought the keys with her. Now, she was sending

Cordelia a message on Messenger: [Cordelia, I'm free today, thinking of visiting Auntie, is that okay?

But I don't know where she lives.]

Cordelia had wrapped up for the day, and though she found it odd that Samantha wanted to swing by

her place, she couldn't exactly give her the boot. So, she shot back a text. [Sure thing. Just knocked

off, coming down in a sec. Let's meet in the lobby.]

"Gotcha."

As everyone started to clock out, coworkers trickled out of the office, hopped into the elevator, and

made their way to the lobby. Cordelia was among them, scanning the crowd for Samantha.
