The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 187

Chapter 187

Milana came back to the office.

Cordelia said, "Milana, I want to sign up for the project with Grant's company."

Milana was startled at first, then laughed. "Totally forgot that you know Mr. Evans. You're ahead of the

game, knowing before I even mentioned it. I wouldn't have thought to involve you if you hadn't brought

it up. Since you're interested, we need to make sure the project runs smoothly. Get the related

documents from Proxima Ventures tomorrow."

Cordelia nodded in comprehension. She finished her work for the day and spent the afternoon

reviewing notes in Ronan's office.

After handing in her notes, Ronan carried on with his own tasks without looking at them. But today, Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Cordelia seemed distracted, her mind preoccupied with her mother's words.

It wasn't until Emerson rapped on the table. "Mrs. Evans, we're in the middle of a lesson here. Just

because it's free doesn't mean you can disrespect it. You're not paying, but someone else footed the

bill for you." Emerson was always blunt, and there was a slight tease in his words.

"Ah..." Cordelia sneakily glanced at Ronan, finding him watching her. She suddenly realized she was

like a misbehaving student being reported to the class teacher. Now, the class teacher was glaring at

her sternly.

Reluctantly, Cordelia focused on her books.

On the way home, Ronan asked her, "What's up?"

"Nothing."

"Aren’t you afraid your nose will grow from telling lies?"

Cordelia felt that Ronan always used this metaphor like he was coaxing a child. "Let it grow then, I'm

not scared, as long as you're not!" Cordelia said nonchalantly.

Ronan glanced at her. "You're not afraid of getting punished?"

Cordelia muttered, "Who's getting punished? You are."

"What are you talking about?" Ronan furrowed his eyebrows, asking her.

"Nothing."

"Spill the beans, maybe I can help," Ronan said.

Cordelia pondered for a moment, then told Ronan what Shelley told her last night. "I'm not the daughter

of your lifesaver, you can do as you please now!" Cordelia said fearlessly to Ronan.

"Really?" Ronan laughed. "I can really do as I please?" Knowing she wasn't Castiel's real daughter, he

felt less pressured.

"Yep." Cordelia thought, why was he so relaxed? He could propose divorce whenever he wanted.

Ronan looked at Cordelia. "Don't complain when I do as I please tonight."

Cordelia thought, why does he always bring that up? He's always serious and cautious at work, giving

off a stern vibe that keeps people at bay. Why does he become a different person around her?

"Oh, Milana told me to get the Proxima Ventures documents tomorrow." Cordelia changed the subject.

"I'll send you the location and Grant's contact info later."

"Why do I need Grant's? Can't I have someone from their Finance Department?" Cordelia asked,

puzzled.

"It's fine." He didn't want her to ask too much, so Cordelia didn't inquire further. "What time are we

leaving tomorrow?"

"Milana said I can work after getting the documents. We can sleep in tomorrow." Cordelia suddenly

laughed.

Ronan looked at Cordelia thoughtfully. "So, what are you hinting at?"

Cordelia thought, what was she hinting at? What could she hint at? In front of Ronan, her IQ seemed

not so high, her hints were practically blatant. She didn't have the guts to play mind games with Ronan.

However, that night, Ronan made Cordelia understand what he meant by "Cordelia's hint." Cordelia

nearly fainted on the bed. She fell into a drowsy sleep, while Ronan went downstairs to make a call.
