The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 254

Chapter 254

At three o'clock in the afternoon, Jamie had dropped Cordelia and Janice off at their home. Cordelia

was sitting on the couch, contemplating where to place the two dolls she was holding.

Janice came over. Seeing Cordelia's fondness for the dolls, she assumed they were just toys.

"You really like these little dolls, huh?" Janice asked Cordelia.

"Yes, they have meaning," Cordelia replied mystically.

Their home seemed particularly empty after they returned from the company's annual party. This time

last year, Cordelia remembered, her mother was probably preparing to celebrate Christmas at Ronan’s

house. But this year, her mother was gone. She couldn't help but feel melancholic.

Janice noticed Cordelia's sudden shift in mood. She knew Cordelia was reminiscing about the past.

"C'mon Cordelia, we have to keep moving forward, right?" Janice sat next to her on the couch.

"I often miss my childhood, spent with my mom. I've never given up hope that she would wake up. I've

never felt the way I do now like there's only one direction left for me," Cordelia said sincerely.

Janice patted Cordelia's shoulder, and Cordelia rested her head on it. She would never be able to lean

on her mother's shoulder again. Cordelia, lost in her sorrow, soon fell asleep on Janice's shoulder.

However, her body kept trembling. Even though she was expecting a child, she still felt like a child

herself, needing an adult beside her.

Ronan returned home from work. He noticed Cordelia's trembling from behind. Janice turned and

hushed Ronan, pointing at the sleeping Cordelia.

He quietly came over after changing his shoes, picked up Cordelia and carried her to bed. He frowned

slightly. She was heavier than he expected.

After Ronan laid her on the bed, Cordelia woke up for a moment. Seeing Ronan, she turned her body

away from him. She had never disliked him so much!

Soon, Cordelia fell back asleep. Ronan stood there for a bit, clenching his teeth in anger. However, he

didn't argue with her. He left the room.

Back in the living room, Ronan noticed the two dolls. "What are these?" he asked.

"Oh, Cordelia won these at the company raffle today. She wasn't too lucky, but she loves them," Janice

explained.

Ronan picked up the dolls and threw them in the trash can. Both figures shattered on impact.

Facing Ronan's anger, Janice kept quiet and went to the kitchen.

By the time Cordelia woke up, it was already past five o'clock. Janice was about to call her for dinner.

Ronan was already sitting at the dining table. Unexpectedly, the first thing Cordelia did after waking up

was search for her dolls on the couch. She couldn't find them anywhere.

"Janice, have you seen my dolls?" Cordelia asked, puzzled. "They represent the health of my children.

I can't just lose them."

"Uh..." Janice was pouring soup and looked at Ronan nervously.

"I threw them away," Ronan said.

"Where did you throw them?" Cordelia asked, slightly panicked.

Janice quietly pointed at the kitchen trash can.

Cordelia walked over and saw the doll pieces in the trash. Her heart broke, and she was filled with Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

sorrow. It’s like the children inside her had been ripped apart.

"How could you do this? You either rip apart or smash everything that other people love. Are you

mentally disturbed?" Cordelia cursed Ronan, looking at the dirty fragments in the trash.

Ronan knew she was referring to Jamie's book, The CPA Success Blueprint. Again, she brought it up!

The dolls no doubt represented her and Jamie's love story. Ronan couldn't stand them!

"Cordelia, stop," Janice said, observing Cordelia's tears and Ronan's increasingly angry face. “It’s an

accident.”

"Aan accident? Was it an accident when he threw them straight into the trash can?" Cordelia retorted.

"So everything he gives you is a treasure, right?" Ronan asked angrily.

Cordelia was infuriated. She shouted back at him, "Yes!"

In response, Ronan slammed his chopsticks on the table and stormed off to his room. Cordelia picked

up the doll fragments from the trash, trying to put them back together, but some parts were missing.

She felt despondent, thinking to herself, “This omen isn't good at all!”
