The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 272

Chapter 272

"It's me." Ronan replied.

"What are you doing here? I thought you'd returned to Pearl Palms?" Cordelia queried.

"The faucet in the bathroom broke, I didn't have the property management's number and I've never

lived here before." He explained.

Cordelia slowly nodded, "Oh, are you leaving tonight?"

She had spent a decent amount of time chatting with Brooklyn and then dropped her home; now it was

already past four in the morning.

"Do you want me to leave?" He asked.

"You can make your own decisions; it's not my business. If you're staying, I'll have Janice cook. If

you're leaving, then…" Cordelia seemed to realize the expression on her face and quickly masked it.

"If I leave then what?" Ronan asked.

"Then we won't make your dinner." Cordelia retorted.

"I'll stay then." He said.

"Then I'll have Janice make your food." With that, Cordelia started to leave the room to head to the

kitchen. But, Ronan stretched out his arm and blocked her path. Cordelia turned her head to look at

him in surprise.

"I've already told her." Ronan said.

"Oh. Okay." Cordelia nodded, returning to sit on the bed.

Ronan then went to the bathroom to fix the faucet.

Cordelia's bedroom door remained open. She could hear the clanking sound of metal, the running of

water from the faucet, and the sound of him washing his hands. Suddenly, she found these sounds,

filled with a strong sense of everyday life, to be very comforting.

"Aren't you having lunch?" He said, stepping out of the bathroom and looking over at Cordelia who was

still in the bedroom. He was still wearing that stern, handsome black shirt that was hard to look directly

at.

"I ate too much at lunch. I'm not hungry." Cordelia replied.

"Even if you're not hungry, you should drink your milk. Come out." Ronan insisted.

With nothing else to do in the bedroom, Cordelia agreed and went to sit at the dining table. "Go make

her milk and prepare a garden salad." Ronan instructed Janice.

"Alright." Janice said.

As Janice was preparing dinner in the kitchen, Cordelia sat idly at the dining table. "What did you eat

for lunch? Why aren't you hungry?" Ronan asked casually as he ate his meal.

"Oh, Brooklyn wanted me to treat her to lunch, so we went to that boutique restaurant you took me to

last time." Cordelia responded.

"What did you two talk about?" Ronan asked.

"I can't remember, just casual chatter between old friends. She starts work the day after tomorrow."

Cordelia explained.

Janice brought over the milk for Cordelia.

"The salad is being prepared. It'll be ready soon." She said before returning to the kitchen.

Cordelia held the cup of milk with both hands, taking a sip. Her lips were coated in milk.

"Um." Cordelia felt awkward and was looking for a topic to break the ice, "Are you also starting work on

the tenth?"

"Your mouth." Ronan looked up at Cordelia.

"What?" Cordelia was caught off guard by Ronan's statement.

"Milk." Ronan said.

"Huh?" Cordelia was even more confused by Ronan's words.

Seeing Cordelia's baffled expression, Ronan reached over, brushed his hand along her shoulder and

leaned in to kiss her. Cordelia's mind went blank before she realized - she had milk on her lips.

Janice, carrying the garden salad, was about to enter the dining room when she saw their intimate

moment and quickly retreated back into the kitchen. It wasn't until they finally pulled apart that she

reentered the room.

Cordelia's face was flushed, "Is there more?"

"Nope." Ronan continued eating.

Cordelia started eating her salad, thinking to herself. The sorrow of her mother's passing was slowly

fading away, but his warmth was right in front of her. Cordelia feared that as time went on, she wouldn't

be able to resist and would surrender. This wasn't the first time she had had feelings for him.

After dinner, Ronan sat on the couch reading a book while Cordelia went back to her room to rest.NôvelDrama.Org content.

She was lying in bed watching a TV series when suddenly her calf started to cramp severely. This was

a common occurrence since she got pregnant. Victoria had told her to massage it frequently. But this

time, the cramp was so severe that she could barely tolerate it and with her enlarged belly, she couldn't

reach her calf.

"Janice, Janice." Cordelia called from her room.

She had rarely experienced this before her pregnancy, but ever since she got pregnant, and especially

since last Monday, it had been happening frequently.
