The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 283

Chapter 283

Brooklyn was lighting the candles on the cake for Edwin on a tablecloth, all twenty-nine of them.

"Approaching the big three-oh, make a wish." Brooklyn told Edwin.

"What kind of wish?" Ronan asked Edwin after he made his wish.

"If I tell you, it won't come true. So I'm not telling." Edwin, a good-natured guy, chuckled.

Cordelia was observing Ronan, wondering if he forgot to buy Edwin a gift. She hadn't seen him bring

anything today.

"How's your gaming company doing lately?" Ronan asked Edwin.

"We've developed a few new games and recently partnered with Pulse Technologies, the biggest

gaming company in Millstone. They sponsored the production of The High Society, so we're hoping for

a big hit, and expect to make a fortune next year." Edwin explained.

"I'll invest ten million in your company. We can sign the contract at your office on Monday." Ronan said

nonchalantly.

Edwin was stunned but quickly recovered, "Really?"

"Your birthday present." Ronan said.

"That's a hefty gift. Thanks, Mr. Evans." Edwin said.

Cordelia thought to herself that when Ronan gave gifts, he really went all out. It seemed that Edwin and

Ronan had a pretty good relationship.

"How are you so sure that investing in The High Society will pay off?" Brooklyn asked Edwin, "What if

the show flops?"

"You don't get it, do you? Keegan Entertainment only produces one big-budget show a year, and they

work on the script for years. How could it possibly flop? And Alana wouldn't risk her reputation.

Although as chairman, she's often abroad, her legend remains in the industry." Edwin said.

Cordelia wasn't interested in gossip and didn't know who Alana was or much about Edwin's gaming

company. She just thought that Brooklyn was overthinking things. Edwin didn't seem to have any

ulterior motives towards her. But she didn't mind showing off her affection for Ronan in front of Edwin, Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

hoping to nip any potential feelings he might have in the bud. So, Cordelia would occasionally touch

Ronan's hand or lean against him, behaving very affectionately. Ronan was also very cooperative.

After they finished eating, Edwin and Brooklyn went fishing by the river. Cordelia and Ronan sat behind

them.

The grass was warm, and Cordelia fell asleep leaning on Ronan's legs, comforted by the sunlight.

Edwin was always turning to talk to Brooklyn.

"You made quite a statement with that gift." Cordelia said, her eyes closed.

"Did I? If you want to make an impression, I'll help you." Ronan replied nonchalantly.

Although his words were casual, Cordelia detected an underlying meaning. It felt like Ronan was

hinting at something. She opened her eyes to look at Ronan above her. Ronan was also staring at her.

Cordelia thought she saw Edwin glancing their way out of the corner of her eye. She hooked her arm

around Ronan's neck. She pulled Ronan's hand down and kissed him.

Since Cordelia had been abroad, they hadn't really kissed except in bed. Their display of affection

today was rare since their marriage.

Cordelia enjoyed Ronan's kiss. Even though her gaze was initially fixed on Edwin, she slowly closed

her eyes and immersed herself in the kiss.

Ronan's hand slipped under her clothes. Cordelia wanted to resist, but couldn't. She had to let him

have his way. She just felt that it was inappropriate for Edwin and Brooklyn, who were some distance

away, to see.

After Ronan finished kissing her, Cordelia opened her eyes, her face flushed. Out of the corner of her

eye, she saw Edwin kissing Brooklyn.
