The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 288

Chapter 288

Furthermore, Ronan just mentioned to Emerson that Cordelia was already six months along. It was

clear he was concerned for Cordelia and didn't want her working so hard at this stage in her pregnancy.

Cordelia recalled a message she received a few days ago from Brenda. She had mentioned that

PrimeNumbers Accounting was facing a downturn due to the impact of First Enterprises. First

Enterprises, now renamed Elite Accounting Firm by Kent, was failing to secure contracts and was

struggling to pay its employees.

[Brenda, do you think Marian is committing career suicide? If you were there, she'd at least have a

meal ticket. She doesn't have a clue and has upset you.] Brenda had written to Cordelia in a message. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

But the person Marian truly upset was Ronan. He was the one who taught Marian a lesson on behalf of

Cordelia. Thinking about it, Cordelia couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

Ronan's cell phone rang.

"Tonight? Where? Night Rave? Sounds good." Ronan ended the call.

Hearing Night Rave, Cordelia frowned slightly and gazed out the window. Thunder rumbled in the

distance. It was going to rain soon.

Ronan saw her expression through the rearview mirror. "I'm heading to the nightclub tonight. I'll drop

you home first." Ronan said.

"Whatever." Cordelia replied, leaning back and closed her eyes to rest. Perhaps influenced by what

Ronan said earlier about her not being that important, Cordelia didn't say anything more.

Ronan didn't get out of the car. With the impending rain, he drove directly into the garage, and asked

Janice to escort Cordelia upstairs. He then left.

Janice had already prepared dinner, including a dish of beef stew with potatoes, fish, and several

plates of green vegetables.

"Where did Mr. Evans go?" Janice asked Cordelia.

"He went to the nightclub." Cordelia casually replied while eating.

"A nightclub?" Janice frowned, "What's he doing there?"

"I don't know." Cordelia said.

In the eyes of Janice, a respectable housewife, that a nightclub was not a good place. "Why didn't you

stop him?" Janice asked.

"I didn't think to." Cordelia replied, and her mind was elsewhere during dinner.

"What's wrong?" Janice assumed that Cordelia was unwell. After all, she was pregnant and needed

constant care and attention.

"Nothing." Cordelia said.

"Do you want me to ask where he went?" Janice asked.

Cordelia looked up, slightly flustered, "Janice, I didn't mean that. I really didn't."

"It's okay if you did. It's natural, considering you're carrying his child." Janice understood the nuances of

young hearts.

Cordelia sighed.

……

At Night Rave, in the Spring Rain private room.

Grant was the host, and the room was filled with influential individuals from Millstone. All of them were

business people, and it was a great opportunity to network and share insights.

Thomas was also there. Technically, his business status didn't warrant him being there. But Ronan had

asked for him to be invited. So, Grant extended the invitation.

Ronan took a seat next to Grant, slapped his shoulder, and said, "Sorry I'm late." Then, he scanned the

center of the room where a scantily clad woman was standing.

"Everyone, look at this woman. She's my ex-wife, Crystal. Her last name is White, but her actions are

far from pure. Not long ago, she was caught in bed with a fitness coach and ran off with him. The

young man thought she was rich, but ironically, she's as empty as her last name suggests. She's got no

money and a long list of past lovers. The young man found a new sugar mama and dumped her. And

now, she's in cahoots with another guy from Millstone, trying to swindle me. This kind of woman is

more venomous than a scorpion. Today, I have stripped her of her fake facade for all of you to see her

true colors. Don't fall for her tricks. If I see her having dealings with anyone here, it means you're my

enemy. If anyone sees her getting involved with someone, feel free to inform me. I'll make sure she

can't survive in Millstone. If anything happens to her in the future and whether she ends up begging or

selling her body, she'll have nobody to blame but herself." Grant said.

All the men in the room either chuckled or shook their heads.
