The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 403

Chapter 403

It was the third year since Cordelia left.

Edwin forwarded a message to Ronan. [Birchwood was planning to develop its financial industry.]

[Hey, Ronan, take a look at this. See if you can find a way to make some green. You've got the sharper

eye; you always know what to do.]

Ronan had already received this news. He was a Birchwood native and schooled there until he

graduated high school. Many of his old classmates had reached out to him about it. He had been

planning to invest in Birchwood for a while. The city was not as large as Millstone, but its future

potential was limitless. Recently, he had been scouting for companies to invest in.

As soon as he considered the idea, numerous profiles of investment firms and financial companies

were sent to Lumos Enterprises. Ronan was in the midst of the evaluation process.

Recently, he had a meeting with Emerson and Wyatt in a smaller conference room, discussing which

company would make the best partner.

"Ronan," Emerson started, "after comparing all aspects, I think we should take a closer look at

Empower Operations and Shenda."

"I agree!" Wyatt chimed in.

"I'm of the same mind," Ronan said. "But we need to see for ourselves. Some companies merely look

good on paper."

"Exactly. Birchwood is growing fast, and we need to get in on it. When are we headed to Birchwood?"

Emerson asked Ronan.

"Dad, Dad, are we going to Birchwood? To Great-grandpa's house? I've never been there," a little boy

playing with LEGO bricks in the corner piped up.

The little boy had strikingly beautiful eyes that glittered and shone, and his hair was dark. He was as

cute as a button.

Ronan ruffled the boy's hair. "Yes, we'll go with Uncle Emerson soon."

"Cool. But Uncle Emerson, you better not bully my dad," Callum warned Emerson.

"Me? Bully your dad?" Emerson was flabbergasted. "How could I?"

"See, you're being mean," Callum said, puffing out his chest.

"Getting a taste of your own medicine, huh?" Ronan chuckled at Emerson.

"Ronan, where can I go to clear my name? Did I do something to upset you? Why does your son

always think I'm out to get you?" Emerson sighed helplessly.

"Who knows?" Ronan shrugged, gathering his things to leave.

"Ronan, can't you set the record straight with your kid?" Wyatt threw his hands up in frustration.

"I didn't say anything. These are all his assumptions. Maybe he—" Ronan glanced at Emerson. "—

thinks you're up to no good."

With that, Ronan guided Callum back to his office. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Callum often visited his father's office. His prejudice against Emerson was rooted in a past incident

where he had seen Emerson "bully" his father.

It happened last year when Emerson visited Ronan’s home to discuss some business matters.

After the discussion, Emerson scanned the house, noticing the absence of a certain person. "She

hasn't come back yet?" Emerson carefully asked Ronan.

"Who?" Ronan's gaze suddenly turned icy, intimidating Emerson.

"You know who I'm talking about," Emerson retorted, a bit defiant, raising his voice.

"Jessica? She hasn't come back since Callum disappeared. She doesn't dare to. I don't plan to pursue

it." Ronan casually picked up a magazine from the table and started flipping through it.

"Ronan!" Emerson stood up, raising his voice even more. "Why do you pretend not to know the

obvious?"
