The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 419

Chapter 419

Even though she had changed her phone and her number, Cordelia still recognized Ronan's number.

She instantly stood up, pacing restlessly around her room.

Just a moment before, she had been sitting at her desk in her little apartment in Unity Hall, drafting a

speech. The school term had barely started, and the freshman welcome ceremony hadn't even taken

place yet. She was supposed to give a speech there, as the representative of the young teachers.

These past three years, she hadn't suffered any harm from Alana in England. It was as if they had

vanished into thin air. Moreover, Callum seemed pretty well when she saw him not long ago. He didn't

seem to have gone through any hardships.

But now, Ronan had suddenly called her...

Eventually, Cordelia answered the call.

"Hello, ma’am, why'd you take so long to pick up?" A childlike voice came from the other end.

Recognizing it as Callum's voice, Cordelia felt a softness envelop her heart. "I was writing something."

"So, are you aiming to be a billionaire?" Callum could barely contain his amusement.

In Callum's impression, besides his father, very few adults read books, let alone write.

"A billionaire?" Cordelia was confused.

"Yeah, my dad says that knowledge is wealth."

Thinking of Ronan, Cordelia couldn't help but chuckle with a mix of amusement and bitterness. "I do

want to be a 'billionaire,' but there's a long, long way to go. I need to study hard, and you should too,

Callum."

"Okay, got it. You're so modest. I called because my dad wants to marry you. You'd want that, right? My

dad looks okay, and most importantly, he's rich. He can buy you anything you want. Marrying him would

be a good deal."

Cordelia burst into laughter. "Do you always propose to ladies on your dad's behalf?" This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

"Of course not! My dad has been smitten by you since he saw you yesterday. He's fallen for you. How

about a date with my dad tomorrow night, seven o'clock, at Grandpa's community garden?"

Cordelia knew that Ronan would never be "smitten." Most likely, Callum was exaggerating. Ronan

probably didn't even know about this call.

"Well, it depends if I have time. If I do, I'll come." Cordelia was merely trying to appease Callum. "If I

have something to do, I'll call you, okay?"

"Okay, don't forget. Bye." With that, Callum hung up.

Sitting at her desk, Cordelia couldn't help but smile. She never thought that Callum would grow up to

be such a cheerful, energetic, and mischievous boy. She felt both relieved and heartbroken.

She knew that Ronan had given up on her. Otherwise, he would have found her in the last three years,

even if she had been hiding in the North Pole. She wondered where Tabitha's second child was, and

why Ronan wasn't with them.

And yesterday, when Ronan had asked Callum to call her "ma’am,” he had a calm and composed

gaze. Maybe he thought Cordelia was selfish and self-centered and was willing to abandon everything

for her own development. He couldn't see the pain and scars in her heart.

Cordelia was sure that Ronan didn't know about this call. She didn't plan on going to meet Callum.

Not long after Callum ended his call, Ronan came out of the bathroom. He was wearing his pajamas.

"Dad, I just called that lady and asked her to go on a date with you," Callum told Ronan.

Ronan took the phone and saw the call to an unfamiliar number that Callum had just made.

"Your son seems to feel really close to her," Emerson teased Ronan. "Why don't you go see for

yourself?"

Ronan sank down onto the couch. "If you want to go, then you go. I'm not going."
