The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 484

Chapter 484

Cordelia stepped out of Victoria's office and into the corridor.

"What's the diagnosis?" Ronan asked Cordelia.

"See for yourself." Cordelia handed the medical record to Ronan with a cold expression. "You go fetch

the medication."

"Torn." Ronan read out the words, speaking in a way that was far from serious, "How tight was it, to be

torn?"

Cordelia rolled her eyes. After three years, such crude language still flowed smoothly from his lips,

without any effort.

Ronan fetched a tube of ointment from the pharmacy for Cordelia, which was to be applied twice daily

to the affected area.

"Do I need to apply this for you?" In the car, Ronan continued to tease Cordelia, "Otherwise, how will

you see where the wound is?"

"No need. I'm planning to head back to Birchwood this afternoon or tomorrow. I have to prepare for my

classes, and I have research to do. I’m busy."

"So soon? Absence makes the heart grow fonder. We've been apart for three years, and after one night

of marital bliss, this happens?" Ronan was in high spirits, his tone much gentler, even in the mood to

tease Cordelia.

Cordelia, on the other hand, was not in the mood to joke around. Although she had feelings for Ronan

three years ago, it was only natural to fall in love with him after they got married. However, as she got

to know him better, Cordelia started to doubt his methods and character. Falling for someone started

with their appearance, then you were captivated by their talent, and finally you stayed for their

character.

In the first two aspects, Ronan was undoubtedly outstanding, almost bringing Cordelia to a state of

emotional confusion and infatuation. But as for the last aspect, she had serious doubts about his

character and personality. Even if he did it for her, she could not forgive him. Deanna and Tabitha,

despite their grave sins, did not need him to judge them. Moreover, she still remembered the record

regarding her mom’s incident, which he didn't do for Cordelia, but for his father.

Therefore, Cordelia could be Callum's mother, but not Ronan's wife. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Once home, Cordelia took the ointment and headed upstairs. The ointment read, "Apply twice daily to

the affected area." Cordelia could feel where the wound was, even if she couldn't see it.

She went to the bathroom, and just as she was taking off her clothes to apply the ointment, Ronan

walked in.

Cordelia was taken aback.

"How did you get in here?" She quickly pulled up her pants and asked Ronan.

"It's my house. Why can't I come in?"

Cordelia left the bathroom with the ointment. Ronan's gaze fell on Cordelia's graceful figure, like a

predator watching its prey.

"When do you plan to return to Birchwood?" Ronan asked her.

Cordelia glanced at her watch. It was already past four. If she left this afternoon, it would be dark by the

time she got to campus.

"By tomorrow morning at the latest. I've got a lot to do at school. I have a tenure-track position, I can't

just give it up," Cordelia said.

"I didn't ask you to give up your job. What are you thinking?"

"I...” Cordelia was once again rendered speechless by him.

Cordelia was a bit scared. She was afraid that he would keep her here, as his captive, just like when

she was working at Lumos Enterprises. Whether she went to work or not was up to him. So she

emphasized the importance of her job. Besides, she no longer worked at Lumos Enterprises and there

was no marriage contract anymore. If he wanted to control her, it wouldn't be so easy.

Ronan seemed to understand every cell in Cordelia's body.

After Ronan went downstairs, Cordelia finally applied the ointment herself. Upstairs, she heard Ronan

on the phone downstairs, but couldn't make out what he was saying.

That night, Ronan didn't do anything to Cordelia. Her physical condition didn't allow it.

Cordelia remembered Victoria's words. Someone had been asking about her blood type at the hospital.

She guessed it might be Alana. She also knew that she wouldn't be able to find out anything with her

own resources. The man sitting next to her, on the other hand, could.

"Could you help me look into something?" Cordelia asked.

Ronan casually flipped a page in his book, "What?"

"Victoria told me today that someone had been asking about my medical records at the hospital. I don't

know who it was. Could you find out for me?" Cordelia asked.

"Call me 'hubby.'” He continued reading his book. It seemed to him that as long as Cordelia called him

'hubby', this wouldn't be a big deal.

Cordelia turned away, "Never mind. You probably couldn't find out anyway." With that, Cordelia

snuggled under the covers and went to sleep.
