Ronan started dialing a number.

"Did you give Cordelia's room to someone else?" Ronan asked, his voice carrying a hint of pressure.

He purposely switched to speakerphone, not just to let Adrian hear, but also to reassure his grandpa.

"Not yet, do you want to return the room to her?" Ms. Emily's voice was gentle.

"Yes, Cordelia's stuff is still in the room, so let's keep it for her."

Hearing this, Adrian and Deanna looked disappointed. It seemed the previous story about Ronan

kicking Cordelia out of the dorm was true.

Adrian was still puzzled. Were they really not in a sham marriage?

"That's settled then. I'll get Brooklyn to bring over my pregnancy test results." Cordelia said casually,

then started fiddling with her phone.

"Aren't you going to call her?" Ronan asked, not just for Cordelia, but also for Adrian and Deanna to

hear.

"If I call, you'd hear where I left my stuff, wouldn't you? I don't want you to know."

Cordelia glanced at Barney, who was grinning from ear to ear.

He probably thought Adrian was just talking nonsense. And he was already excited about becoming a

great-grandpa. Such is life's joy, huh?

Cordelia felt a pang of sadness. What if Barney found out it was all a lie? How heartbroken would he

be?

Cordelia quickly texted a classmate: Victoria.

Victoria was an obstetrician.

Victoria, Brooklyn, and Cordelia were close friends in college. But since Cordelia and Brooklyn worked

at the same company, they hung out more often.

[Victoria, I need your help. Can you create a pregnancy test report for me? Three weeks pregnant. I'll

have Brooklyn pick it up at the hospital.]

[Planning a shotgun wedding?]

[Hurry, Brooklyn will be at the hospital in ten minutes.]

The other party didn't ask any more questions, just replied with a "Sure."

Soon, Victoria issued the report and sent a snapshot to Cordelia.

under pressure, lying with ease. Even he started to question whether she was really pregnant.

It took about forty-five minutes for Brooklyn to arrive.

She looked around Ronan's house, continuously praising how luxurious it was.

Cordelia slapped the pregnancy test on Ronan's table.

Ronan glanced at it, the date was a week ago.

He looked at Cordelia with a slight frown. So, she really was pregnant?

Deanna also looked at the pregnancy test. As an actress, she could easily identify real from fake props.

But this pregnancy test was clearly not fake, and even came with an ultrasound report in a medical

bag.

Deanna's face turned pale. She wanted to get rid of Cordelia.

But Cordelia was embarrassed to let Barney see the pregnancy test, because she knew it was fake.

"I'm going to be an uncle?" Adrian originally planned to expose their agreement marriage, and take

advantage of Cordelia, but he ended up shooting himself in the foot.

"So, aren't you going to give me a gift?" Cordelia boldly extended her hand towards Adrian.

Adrian's face turned awkward, but he didn't dare to be stingy in front of Barney. The fact that Cordelia

was pregnant was undeniable. He pulled out five hundred dollars from his pocket and handed it to

Cordelia.

He originally planned to take advantage of Cordelia, but he ended up being taken advantage of by her,

and even had to pay her.

He left dejectedly.

Not long after, Deanna also left disappointedly.

Barney spoke a lot to Cordelia, and even instructed the servants to prepare more delicious food for her.

Then, Barney went for a nap.

Brooklyn and Cordelia chatted for a bit downstairs.

Cordelia informed her that she had reclaimed her dorm from Ronan.

"Really? How'd you do that?" Brooklyn was also excited. She didn't like sharing a room with others.

"Just outsmarted him."

scoffed at Cordelia's words.

Cordelia nodded in agreement, but then she thought, how smart could Ronan be in front of grandpa?

Brooklyn said, "Okay, go ahead. Mr. Evans is waiting for you upstairs. Don't forget my generous

reward."

"Sure, I'll transfer the money to you." Cordelia said, then started transferring money to Brooklyn.

Brooklyn happily accepted it, then left.

Once the house had quietened down, Cordelia let out a long sigh of relief, still a bit shaken. If they'd

slipped up even a bit, grandpa would have found out their marriage was a sham, which would've been

a massive blow for him. Thankfully, she'd managed to think on her feet.

Cordelia headed upstairs to the bedroom, where Ronan was already waiting for her.
