Chapter 14: It Turns Out That She Was His Secret Admirer
Because of Zac's insistence, he was finally brought to see Sophie.
‘‘Her body..’’ he thought in disbelief.
Zac stared straight at Sophie.
Her body was severely burned beyond recognition that Zac didn't believe that it was her. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
He examined the remaining intact parts of Sophie's body.
The scar on her right hand and the tiny mole on her collar bone helped Zac identify that the corpse was indeed her.
He looked at her body that was helplessly devoured by the fire.
Good thing, the policemen were able to find her remains.
"Sophie.." Zac called her name.
"Please wake up.Tell me this is all a dream! I know you're still alive! Wake up, Sophie!"
Zac's hands trembled as he caressed the intact half of Sophie's face.
Her skin was cold and there was no trace of life left in her body.
‘‘She's dead...She's really dead” he thought.
He finally came to realize that he had lost her.
Sophie would never wake up again.
She's forever gone.
‘It's impossible...How could she just die?’ Zac thought in disbelief.
Sophie loved him for so long, but all he did was hurt her.
Zac couldn't fathom that she died just before he was about to apologize for everything.
‘I won't allow it!’ Zac thought. He hurriedly went to look for Dr.Anna in hopes of reviving Sophie. He wanted to make it up to her and tell her that he loves her.
He wanted to give her a grand wedding again and have kids with her.
He wanted to make up for all the opportunities he had missed over the years.
‘But why didn’t you give me a chance?’ Zac wondered.
Zac wasn't able to attend Sophie's cremation.
He dealt with his own serious injuries and fell into a coma again.
A month later, Zac was discharged from the hospital.
Zac's father was old and he didn't want him to worry.
So to keep his father from getting anxious about him, Zac obediently cooperated with the doctor in taking his medicines.
Only when he was discharged from the hospital did he fly abroad.
But it was as if Zac suddenly had an empty heart.
He didn't know what he should do now.
‘‘I'm alive but Sophie's dead, how can I live?’’ Zac pondered.
He began to frantically collect everything that reminded him about Sophie.
Her clothes, photos, books that she read, places she had been to, and just everything.
Zac felt that it would be greedy of him to take everything, but he still did it because he wanted to remember her.
As if in this way, he could feel her existence again.
Zac lived in a daze, and he thought that he might be going crazy.
One day, Zac went to Sophie's grandmother's house where she lived as a little kid.
It's a very beautiful villa on the countryside.
The house was built on the foot of a mountain where the sunshine was beautiful and the flowers and plants flourished.
Zac found it amazing that Sophie grew up in such an environment when she was a child.
‘‘I don't know why, but looking at this place feels inexplicably familiar’’ Zac thought.
However, he couldn't remember if he had been there before.
Zac entered Sophie's childhood room.
She often came back here to clean it up even after she got married to him.
He quietly observed everything and little by little, he visualized Sophie in his mind as if she was there.
Zac turned Sophie's computer on and her password was automatically typed in.
This made him curious about what was her password.
Sophie's nickname in her laptop was ‘’Secret Admirer of the Handsome Guy”
Zac found it a little bit funny, but he knew at first glance that this ‘Handsome Guy’ referred to him! It turned out that Sophie was his secret admirer.
‘How come I never came across this side of her?’ Zac thought.
He wiped the tear from the corner of his eye after he laughed too hard.
He entered Sophie's account, which she set up to be visible only to herself.
Many logs and pictures slowly loaded in.
At first glance, Zac knew that it served like Sophie's safe space where she vented her feelings.

Sophie: [Ah! I almost died today! But at least I met a handsome guy who saved me from the river like a knight in shining armor. He was really handsome and kind. But then, I was sent to the hospital so I didn't have the chance to thank him again.Grandma got scared and didn't allow me to go outside.I wasn't confined in the hospital but it felt the same.]
Zac found the first log in Sophie's account. She was just about ten years old when she wrote it.

Sophie: [Hurray! My school organized a visit to the Capital and I happened to see the guy from last time! He seemed to have grown taller and more handsome! The teacher was too strict, so I didn't have a chance to go up and say hello to him.Fortunately, I was able to take a picture of him using my classmate’s camera.I only captured his back, but he was still so handsome!]
At the bottom of the log was a photo of someone's back.
Zac's eyes suddenly got wet, because it was indeed him when he was 15 years old.

Sophie: [It's so cold today! I caught a cold and had a fever.Grandma took me to the hospital in the city.I miss my parents too...When Grandma called them, they said that they were too busy to see me.I knew that they had the time, but they just don't like me.I don't understand what I did wrong. What about my sister? They loved her so much, but they don't even give me the slightest bit.]
