Chapter 2112
Chapter 2112
Days passed uneventfully.
Cece and another nurse would be present twice a day to deliver medication and administer shots.
Though Christopher would instruct the attending doctor to examine the drug every single time, the result remained the same.
The drugs were clean.
It was Christopher's birthday the next day.
The night before, Taylor went to the antique and jewelry gallery to pick up Yvonne's gift as a surprise for Christopher. The gift was perfect to ease the tension between Yvonne and Christopher.
Security was tight outside the ward.
Christopher only kept the bedside lamp on in the ward and read under the soft illumination.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Cece knocked on the door and entered the ward, her voice soft.
"It's time for your medication, Mr. Iverson."
"Sure."
Christopher seemned to be in high spirits, a subtle smile playing around his eyes behind his glasses.
Cece hid her aggression behind her ingratiating smile.
Christopher could fool anyone with his gentle face.
If it were not for her brother, Cece would probably have been taken in by Christopher as well. "You look happy today, Mr. Iverson. Did something good happen?" Cece asked cheerfully.
"I'm getting discharged tomorrow." Christopher looked up with a smile. "It's also my birthday tomorrow."
"Really? I should wish you a happy birthday."
"Thank you for your hard work, Cece."
"Don't mention it. It has been my honor to take care of you, Mr. Iverson." Cece put the tray by the table and picked up a syringe. "Shall I administer the shot? Do you need Dr. Cobb to verify the drug?"
"No, that's fine. Just leave the syringe there. My secretary will sort it out." Christopher's gaze fell back on his book.
"Alright. I will leave you be."
Once her back faced Christopher, Cece made a face and left the ward.
Minutes later, Taylor hurried back to Christopher's side.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Iverson."
"Judging by the look on your face, something good must have happened," Christopher uttered with a faint smile.
"Erm..." Taylor scratched his head embarrassedly, keeping mum about the whole thing. "Alright. Keep your little secret. It's the same thing year in and year out." Christopher rolled up his sleeve and reached his muscular arm out. "I trust you the most."
Taylor approached with respect, picked up the syringe on the tray, and skillfully punctured Christopher's vein.
Feeling a brush of chill along the veins of his arm, Christopher sank his back into the headboard and closed his eyes.
Suddenly, the door to the ward opened, and a bodyguard stumbled in, looking rather flustered. "U-Uh, Mr. Iverson. T-The police are here."
