Chapter 177 Showing Weakness

Chapter 177 Showing Weakness

Shannon knew that if she showed enough weakness and looked pitiful enough, Brendon wouldn't be able to refuse her. This was her winning strategy – it had never failed before.

"Shannon, I'm a little tired and want to rest for a bit. Can you leave?" Brendon made an excuse and didn't want to continue discussing these matters.

Hearing this, Shannon grabbed his sleeve with a distressed expression on her face. "Brendon, do you hate me?" she asked.

"How could I? Don't think too much about it," Brendon replied calmly. He didn't dislike Shannon but he also didn't particularly like her either – he used to have trouble distinguishing between the two feelings but now he understood that he only felt brotherly affection towards Shannon along with some guilt and responsibility.

"That's good! As long as you don't hate me then I'm satisfied!" Shannon rubbed her reddened eyes and continued speaking in a small voice. "But... Aunt, Holly and everyone at Boulderland Mansion know about our relationship so can you not push me away when we're outside? Otherwise I'll lose face!"

Brendon chuckled at how childish she sounded while pouting cutely. "When did I ever push you away? Don't worry too much about it; just rest well since you just got out of the hospital."

Shannon smiled sweetly before obediently leaving the room but once she turned around, she couldn't maintain that expression anymore!

Brendon wasn't as affectionate towards her as before! What if he really did put Ranita in his heart instead of herself? What would happen then? Unconsciously resentment flashed across Shannon's

eyes.

Ever since becoming pregnant, Ranita had been having trouble sleeping at night especially tonight when Jedidiah called which brought up emotions buried deep within causing discomfort inside. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Just then, Ranita's phone rang.

"Hello?"

There were some rustling sounds from the other end of the line before someone spoke up hesitantly, "Excuse me… are you Miss Ranita?"

"Yes… is there something wrong?"

"Here is C-club. There's a lady who's drunk and causing a scene, and she asked me to call you. Can you come over and take her away? Hey hey hey..." After a chaotic noise, Mia's voice came through, "Ranita... it's me, Mia..."

"I'm really sorry... can you forgive me?" Mia was clearly drunk, her voice tinged with tears...

Ranita didn't want to deal with it, but Mia was alone in Kurima working hard every day without many friends around her. If Ranita didn't go, someone might take advantage of Mia.

When Ranita arrived, Mia was lying on the table like a drunken shrimp and wouldn't move. If Ranita hadn't instructed one of the staff members to keep an eye on her, she would have been taken away by now.

Ranita handed over the tip and had someone help put Mia in the car.

It wasn't possible for Ranita to send her home alone so she went to a nearby hotel room instead. Along the way, Mia kept clinging onto Ranita's hand saying sorry while crying hysterically.

After tossing and turning until late at night, Ranita was too tired and fell asleep.

"Ring ring!"

The sound woke up Ranita as she fumbled for her phone and answered hoarsely, "Hello?"

The call was from Caleb asking her to pack up and go on business trip with Brendon to Qaesburg. It would take about fifteen minutes for him to arrive at the front of her house. Ranita massaged her dizzy head, said dryly, "I'm not at home. Let Brendon go first. I'll be there later."

The next second, Brendon's magnetic voice came through, "Where are you?"
