Chapter 2037
With the crowd congesting the hall, it took over an hour for everyone to pay their respects at the funeral. Helen Lane, Vicky Turnbull, Winter Lawrence, and Mona Fairfax were present too.
Even Elder Fango was there, seated at the main chair and watching everyone present impassively.
"And now, we shall hear from the mayor, Stanley Durban."
Silence ensued in the hall at the emcee's announcement.
"Geon Kramer... Commissioner of Zamri."
On the stage, Stanley started reading from a script with a pained voice as the guests looked on. "Zamri has seen peace and stability under his leadership. Even if he has not achieved anything amazing, he was always a grounded man and one who would live on in our hearts..."
Vicky pursed her lips even as she listened. "Bullshit. A hedonistic commissioner who couldn't accomplish anything, and now, another brazen monkey is embellishing him for being a leader and a grounded man..."This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Shush."
Helen promptly put a finger to her lips, as everyone around Vicky heard her.
With Frank unable to prove his innocence now, Lanecorp and Zamri Hospital would suffer considerably for vouching for him, and to stand out now would most definitely be foolish.
"Ahem."
And to no surprise, Stanley cleared his throat and shot pointed looks at Helen and Vicky, though he soon turned away and continued his nonsensical script.
In reality, Geon had been a poor commissioner, constantly mingling with his group of privileged friends.
Forget doing anything positive-he had caused the city plenty of problems.
As such, Stanley had to dig very deep, even into Geon's childhood, just to find enough materials that could fit the length of his script. Many who were smart enough were hiding giggles too, as praising said commissioner was simply ridiculous.
And after finishing his script, Stanley continued dramatically, "Now, let's mourn Commissioner Kramer in silence for five minutes."
Podrick Daffey and other police officers knelt around the crystal coffin, all of them crying Geon's name tearfully.
Even Helen was left frowning-how much more fake could this get?!
Mona was rubbing her arm beside Winter, looking sick. "Urgh, that's just disgusting. I'm really getting the creeps."
"And now, let's talk about the man who murdered Commissioner Kramer."
Nheless, Stanley moved on to
et
his true intentions by the end of the funeral, smirking broadly. "There's no question that Frank Lawrence was the culprit, and he never showed up with any evidence in the three days that he had been given.
"Moreover..."
Taking out the white pill from his pocket and holding it up for everyone to see, Stanley continued "With Elder Fango as my witness, am hence unable to provide Frank Lawrence with the antidote. As such, the man who murdered
Commissioner Kramer will die as the law wills."
Then, turning toward Winter, he said, "Ms. Lawrence. I heard that the man who murdered Commissioner Kramer is now in your ICU. Surely you have no reason to refuse if send my men over to claim his body now?' .
Winter gritted her teeth and retorted, "Frank isn't the man who murdered Commissioner Kramer!"
