The Hidden Gold Mine Heiress Divorcee

Chapter 451 Giving Him Some Response

Chapter 451 Giving Him Some Response

After Boris departed from the banquet, Duke Bourne’s tense face transformed into a wide grin.

He instructed Edison to welcome the guests before joining his friends in the official circle to exchange greetings.

Edison watched him leave and let out a barely audible sneer.

He was eagerly anticipating the spectacle that would unfold at today’s banquet.

As the engagement banquet approached, Ziana and Yudel arrived fashionably late.

As soon as Edison saw Ziana, his indifference vanished, and he warmly greeted her with a smile, “Ziana.”

Ziana nodded politely in response, but it was Yudel who spoke up, “Prince Edison, congratulations.”

Edison’s smile faltered slightly with disappointment, “Thank you. This way please.”

Yudel glanced around the room before replying with a calm smile, “Thank you.”

After entering the banquet hall, he leaned in to whisper to Ziana, “Did Edison come to see you last night?”

Ziana didn’t want to discuss the matter and shot her brother a warning look, “Stop prying.”

“I’m just concerned about you.” Yudel corrected her with a smile.

In front of her family, Ziana didn’t bother to hold back. “Don’t bring him up.”

Yudel raised an eyebrow, recalling Edison’s actions from the previous night. It was indeed terrible.

He changed the subject smoothly. “Alright then, let’s talk about someone else. Where is Boris?”

“How should I know?” Ziana replied nonchalantly, though she seemed uncertain.

Yudel adjusted his glasses, “You don’t know? I saw him leaving your room this morning.”

Ziana felt a twinge of embarrassment. “You must have been mistaken.”

“But he greeted me.”

Ziana was at a loss for words and pretended to be confused. “Really? Why did he leave my room then?”

“Don’t play dumb in front of your brother,” Yudel said, tapping her forehead. “You guys have been through a lot. We all saw his feelings for you five years ago. In the past three years of marriage, he’s been treating you terribly, but it’s understandable. If you’re angry with him, go ahead and torment him. But once it’s over, move on and let bygones be bygones.

“People can’t always dwell on the past. They need to look forward and keep moving.

“And if you have slept with him.” Yudel coughed lightly, “Give him some response. Otherwise, he’ll come knocking on my door for a title. He really annoyed me in the morning.”

Ziana turned livid and hurriedly explained, “Don’t listen to his nonsense. I didn’t sleep with him. He clearly slept on the sofa!”

“Is that so?” Yudel pushed his glasses up his nose. “I don’t know where he slept. After all, I wasn’t hiding under the bed.”

“Yudel!” Ziana gritted her teeth. “Where is Boris? I want to sew his mouth shut and see how he continues making up lies!”

She looked around frantically.

But there was no sign of Boris anywhere.

Where was he?

Had he hidden somewhere, afraid that she would confront him?

What a coward!

Ziana snorted. He might have been able to hide from her today, but not forever. She didn’t believe he could hold back from finding her.

The banquet hall was filling up with more and more guests drinking and chatting with each other.

As the engagement ceremony drew near, Edison made his way onto the stage from the door.

The host approached with a worried expression. “Prince Edison, why hasn’t Ms. Bourne arrived. yet?”

“What? She’s not here yet?” Edison’s brow furrowed in surprise, “Perhaps she’s been delayed. I’ll contact her.” Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

He dialed her number, but his expression quickly changed.

The host grew uneasy, “Can’t reach her?”

Edison shook his head, his face etched with worry and frustration.

“What’s going on?” Duke Bourne couldn’t find Winifred, and seeing Edison’s expression from the audience made him feel uneasy. He approached the stage and asked, “Where is Winifred? The auspicious time for the engagement is passing. Why is she late today? This is ridiculous!”

“I can’t reach her on the phone. I’ll go find her,” Edison reassured him.

Duke Bourne urged him, “Hurry up.”

Edison winked at the host before rushing out. The host’s voice then rang out. “Ladies and gentlemen, please wait a moment. We’ve encountered a slight issue. The engagement banquet will be delayed for a while. Next…”

At first, no one paid much attention, but after half an hour had passed, Edison returned panting and visibly anxious.

He went straight to Duke Bourne and asked, “Dad, has Winifred arrived yet?”

Duke Bourne’s voice rose in alarm, “No! You haven’t found her?”

Edison shook his head as he caught his breath. “No, I’ve searched everywhere she might have and I still can’t reach her on the phone. Dad, do you think… she might be in danger?” gone,

Duke Bourne’s face turned cold as he considered the possibility, “Send someone to search for her!”

The engagement banquet was no longer important; finding his daughter was now their top priority.

Duke Bourne issued orders to his subordinates, and soon dozens of bodyguards rushed in.

The guests were taken aback and frightened by the sudden commotion.

Duke Bourne commanded with a stern expression, “Find Ms. Bourne! Even if you have to dig three. feet into the ground, you must find her!”

“Yes, sir!”

The bodyguards dispersed. Duke Bourne and Edison quickly left as well.

After they were gone, the remaining guests began to whisper amongst themselves.

“What’s going on? Is the engagement banquet still happening?”

“How could it continue? Didn’t you hear? The Duke’s daughter is missing!”

“Today is the day of her engagement. Everyone knows how deeply Ms. Bourne loves Prince Edison. Unless something unexpected happened, she would have definitely shown up!”

“Who would dare to mess with Duke Bourne? Touching Ms. Bourne is like asking for death!”

Yudel watched as the group departed with a slight smile playing in his eyes. “Winifred is missing?”

Ziana pursed her lips, but her thoughts ran deeper than his.

She hadn’t been able to find Boris, and now he was missing too.

Could it be a coincidence?

Had Boris taken Winifred away?

It was possible.

After all, he had said that pushing Winifred into the water was just a small lesson.

Where there were small lessons, there were big lessons.

At that, Ziana rose to her feet and headed outside.

“Where are you going?” Yudel asked.

“I’m going to have a look,” she replied.

The banquet hall had turned chaotic. Some guests chose to stay put and make connections with those who could benefit them, while others ran out to help search for the missing lady.

Ziana and Yudel left the hall and joined the crowd in searching.

They looked everywhere but without success.

Ziana called Boris several times, but his phone was turned off.

This made her more anxious.

Suddenly, Yudel pushed her, and she looked up in the direction he pointed.

Not far away, Edison and Duke Bourne were leading a group of people, hurrying towards a room.

Ziana had a bad feeling and whispered, “Let’s follow them!”
