Chapter 0269
“No such thing will happen.”
“Do you even care about the fact that you've lost a child? Do you even…”
“That's enough!” I angrily cut him off and look at my guards. “Take him away.” I give the order and continue my way into the building.
“What?” He asks in total disbelief as the guards close in on him and seize his arms. He resumes his fighting, but they're just too strong for him. “Let me go! Alpha Reagan, I swear you are going to pay for this! You’ll pay for how badly you treat my daughter! I said, let me go, you big oafs!”
He keeps raining more curses and insults on me as he's being dragged away, but I don't care. I have more important matters to deal with.
Soon, I'm walking into my office and the three elders stand up to greet me. I quickly signal them to
take their seats as I join them in the sitting area of the office and they do so.
“Thank you all for coming on such short notice.” I manage to let out a small smile.
“You are the Alpha, we have to show up anytime you summon us.”Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Right.” I whisper with a nod. They are all seated, but I stay standing so I can pace about. Everytime I sit, I feel like I'm on hot coals. I'm too tense and anxious to stay seated on a single spot right now.
“I know there's a very serious situation at hand right now.” I start. Elder Jorah leans forward in the chair and looks at me closely, with creased brows.
“News just reached us that Alina lost the child. Is that true?” He asks with raised brows. I heave out a heavy sigh and my shoulders fall.
“Yes. It is.”
“Meaning Ashanti killed the child.”
“No. No.” I flatly deny it. “I know this sounds ridiculous, given the evidence that was found in her dress, but Ashanti had nothing to do with this. I can assure you that. This is a set up!”
“How do you know that?” That's elder Nolan.
“Yes.” Elder Kane adds. “Alpha Reagan, Ashanti is your true mate and you cannot tell us she wasn't furious when she found out that Alina was pregnant with your child. That alone made her feel
threatened and I'm sure rumours about the pack subjects and elders wanting you to choose Alina over her, reached her ears and that must have made her even more angry and jealous. We all know how vindictive women can be when they are pushed to the wall. It all makes sense that she planned and succeeded in killing the child Alina is carrying so that she can keep her place in your heart and in your home. Nothing can convince me that Ashanti is not guilty of this crime.” The elder divulges and I stay frozen on my spot. I open my mouth to speak, but my voice catches in my throat and all
words seem to have flown out of my mind.
I thought they liked Ashanti.
What's this sudden change of attitude towards her?
“Yes, My Lord…”
Oh, fuck me!
Another one.
I flick my gaze to Alpha Nolan who just spoke.
“Lately, Ashanti has been too shady and troublesome and it got us thinking that maybe you should rethink making her your mate.”
“Are you all serious right now?” I burst out in fury. “Just the other day, you were praising her and encouraging me to be with her. What's this nonsense you now say about her being shady and
troublesome?”
“We said that because we had not seen her true colors, but now we have!”
This is hopeless.
I thought holding this meeting will get me closer to my goal of exposing Alina, but it was a huge mistake. Now I'm ten steps back in my plans and thousand times more furious. With one hand on my waist, I look up at the ceiling, pinch the bridge of my nose and let out a deep, heavy sigh.
I'm going to expell all of them.
In fact, I'm going to abolish the concept of a council of elders. I don't care if my ancestors curse me for that.
I don't need elders to rule. Not to talk of the ones who do nothing but oppose me every time. Once all of this is over, I will dismiss this council. My Beta and Delta are enough to help me rule.
“Thank you all very much for your contributions. This meeting is over. You can leave now.”
As if waiting, they all rise to their feets and exit the office.
I need to talk to Kyle. Right now!
