Chapter 116
Katrina’s POV
“Katrina?”
The sound of my name made me freeze and my head snapped around with such force I thought I was going to break it.
Phillip.
It was actually Phillip who had come for us.
Relief surged through me, the happiness of being saved filling me up. But that only last for a few seconds before it got replaced by dread.
My eyes widened when they met with his cold eyes, and subconsciously I tried to inch back.
Behind him, a few more of Silas’s men filtered into the room with their guns drawn and their expressions unreadable.
I had no idea what they were thinking, but I knew for sure that they wanted to end me.
I clutched Silas tighter, shielding his limp body as if Phillip himself were another threat. And maybe he was, but not to Silas
but to me.
His piercing gaze swept over the room, going from the bloodied bodies which laid on the floor, to the scattered bullets and finally Silas lying still in my arms.
None of Silas‘ men made a move to him, it seemed as if they were waiting for Phillip’s order.
As though Phillip was their leader and not Silas. And it made my blood boil, but I couldn’t do anything about it.
“What the hell happened here?” Phillip demanded, his tone sharp and accusing.
He sees the state Silas was in, and yet he made it a priority to get an explanation and not to save his life.
I couldn’t get any other explanation except that Phillip was the traitor who was helping Ethan.
“Katrina…” Phillip growled and I forced myself to bring my eyes to him.
He waited for an answer and I had no choice but to speak.
“They–they came to kill us,” I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. “I–I tried to stop them.”
I really did my best to stop them.
Phillip’s eyes went from my face to Silas and then back. He didn’t seem like he believed what I was saying
“How come you, the weak one, is perfectly alright while Silas is the one dying?” Phillip’s brow came up with that question and I found it hard to get an answer.
I was far perfectly fine but he chose to believe whatever he wanted.
Phillip stepped closer, his boots crunching against the bullets scattered across the floor.
His cold eyes lingered on the gun that now lay discarded beside me, then flicked back to meet my gaze.
I couldn’t tell what he was thinking or what he wanted to do. But couldn’t trust the mad man in front of me.

I didn’t know if it was Phillip or the supposed second personality that lived in him, but I didn’t want to find out.
“You tried to stop them?” His lip curled into a sneer. “With what That trembling hand of yours?”
He pointed at my hands which held tightly onto Silas.
Anger flared in me, hot and sudden. I couldn’t let him play whatever game he was about to play right now.
“I saved him,” I snapped, my voice breaking but yet I tried to keep the firmness in them. “Where the hell were you?”
Phillip’s face darkened, and for a moment, I thought he might lash out at me. But instead, he dropped to his knee beside Silas, pressing two fingers to his neck to check his pulse.
Oh so he finally decided to check if he lived? All those moments wasted on trying to figure out something that made no
sense.

“He’s still alive,” he muttered, though his tone was far from reassuring. His expression hardened further as he looked back at me. “But barely. If he dies, this blood is on your hands.”
On me? How was it my fault?
His words hit me like a slap, and I recoiled. “I didn’t—”
“You didn’t what?” Phillip cut me off sharply. “You didn’t call for backup? Didn’t stay out of the way like you were supposed to? Or didn’t think your little hero act might cost Silas his life?”
Tears burned my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. “I did everything I could to save him,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “You weren’t here, Phillip. You don’t get to judge me.”
“Don’t make it sound as if I wanted to be here. I got kidnapped and forced here. I got tortured. Don’t makr it seem as if you’re the good one here, cause you’re anything but!”
My chest was heaving when I was done ranting and I glared hard at Phillip.
His jaw clenched, and for a moment, he didn’t respond. The tension between us was thick, suffocating even me.
But I made a point, a valid point. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.
One of the men behind him cleared his throat. “Sir, we need to move. Reinforcements from Ethan’s side could show up any minute.”
So now they finally thought of that? It’s been a few minutes since they got here and they drawled as much as they could. Just when every minute was important to save Silas‘ live.
Phillip nodded curtly, then barked out orders. “Get Silas out of here. Secure the perimeter. I want this place cleaned before anyone gets wind of what happened.” He threw the orders out like he was the leader and I wondered if he ever wanted to replace Silas.
Two men moved forward to lift Silas, and panic seized me. They couldn’t- they couldn’t touch him.
“No!” I cried, clutching his body tighter. “He needs me–please, don’t take him away from me!”
I didn’t trust them not to hurt Silas and I couldn’t let Silas go.
Phillip’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist in an iron grip, his fingers digging into my skin.
His cold eyes bore into mine, sending shivers down my spine.

“No!” I shouted, fighting against him. “You can’t just take him! He’s hurt–he needs me!”
I couldn’t stay away from Silas-
Phillip’s expression didn’t waver. “You’ve done enough damage for one day. Let them take him, or I’ll drag you out myself.“.
His words struck me like a blow, and my grip on Silas loosened.
The men seized the opportunity, pulling him from my arms and carrying him toward the door. I wanted to believe that they were taking him to save him, but I didn’t know what to think anymore.
I reached for him, my fingers trembling, but Phillip stepped between us, blocking my view. “You’re coming with me,” he said, his voice low and final. He gave me no room for an argument.
Before I could respond, he grabbed my arm and yanked me to my feet.
“Phillip, please,” I begged, my voice breaking. “Don’t do this. I need to be with him. Don’t you understand that Silas needs me!” I screamed but he did nothing to let go of me.
The men carried Silas towards the door and my legs weakened. I was simply too weak to do anything.
Phillip grabbed my jaw, his fingers pressing into my cheeks as he forced my to meet his gaze.
His eyes were icy as he leaned in close, his voice a dangerous whisper.
“The only reason you’re still breathing is because he cares about you. But don’t push your luck, Katrina. You’re not untouchable.”
A threat. A threat that had me stumbling back in fear with my heart beating wildly in my chest.
His words sent a chill down my spine, and for the first time, I realized just how flimsy my position truly was. Silas was my shield, and without him, I was vulnerable.
I swallowed hard, nodding silently as Phillip dragged me through the door, going past the men who has Silas in their arms
My eyes darted to Silas one last time, his pale face and bloodied body forever carved into my memory.
“Stay alive,” I whispered, more to myself than to him. Cause I wasn’t certain who was going to need it more.
