Chapter 77: Greatest Regret

The guard nodded, then opened the gate. “You can go in,” he said. “Have a good time.”

Diego gave the guard a nod and walked through the gate, the rest of the team close behind him.

“I’m in guys.” Diego said.

“Good. Do you see Ramos anywhere?” Raven asked on the ear pod.

“Yeah… I see him and one of his political buddies.”

“Keep a close watch and wait for the time he’s about to give a speech.” Raven said.

Diego did as he was told, keeping an eye on Ramos and his companion. The two of them were engaged in a heated conversation, their voices raised and angry. It was clear that something was bothering them, but what that was, Diego couldn’t tell.

He stayed close by, ready to act at a moment’s notice. The rest of the team was spread out around the room, blending in with the crowd. They were all waiting for the signal.

Suddenly, Ramos stood up and tapped on his glass, calling for everyone’s attention.

The room went silent, and everyone turned to look at Ramos. He cleared his throat, then began to speak.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” he said, his voice booming. “I’m glad you could all join me tonight. I have something very important to say.”

The crowd was on the edge of their seats, wondering what he was going to say. Ramos took a deep breath, then continued.

“I am pleased to announce that the new project for the property selected for redevelopment has been approved and constructions would begin immediately.” Ramos said.

“Ramos is giving his speech.” Diego said.

“Then let’s give him and his political friends a present.” Raven said.

Just when Ramos wanted to continue his speech a recording was heard of Ramos and one his political friends having a discussion about an underage girl he slept with.

Murmurs were heard in the crowd as people were amazed at what they were both discussing.

Ramos froze, his eyes wide with horror as the recording played. The crowd turned to look at him, their faces filled with shock and disgust. He tried to speak, to explain, but the words wouldn’t come. He was lost, his whole world crashing down around him.

And then, from the back of the room, he heard someone shout, “Jail! Jail! Jail!” The chant began to spread, growing louder and louder until it was all he could hear. He could feel the walls closing in on him, the world collapsing.

“This is a lie!” he shouted, trying to regain control of the situation. “This has been doctored, I tell you! It’s fake!”

But the crowd wasn’t buying it. They could see the truth of the recording, and they were disgusted by what they had heard. Ramos was losing control of the situation, and he knew it.

His political friend left the party angry at Ramos for revealing a very important secret to the world.

“Please, listen. It’s not true. I don’t have the recording of this. It’s fake I tell you fake!” Ramos said.

“And you expect us to believe that.” one of his political friends said.

“We do not have business with you any longer .” Another said, as they walked out of the party angry.

With his allies abandoning him, Ramos was left alone and vulnerable. The rest of the crowd began to turn on him, their anger and disgust growing with every passing moment. They started to leave the party one after the other.

Ramos stood there, his body trembling. The party had gone from a celebration to a disaster, and it was all his fault. He had ruined everything, and he didn’t know how to fix it.

And then, he heard a voice. It was soft, but it carried across the room, cutting through the noise.

“We have proof of your crimes,” Raven said, her voice ringing out clear and strong. “There is no escaping this. You will be held accountable for your actions.”

Ramos looked around, his eyes wild and desperate. But there was no one but a voice.

“You will pay for this,” he hissed at Raven. “I will see you destroyed!”

But Raven remained calm and collected, and she spoke again, her voice echoing through the room.

“You will not threaten me,” she said.

“This is not over yet, Raven. I will get you.” Ramos said. “Raven!!!” He yelled.

“You killed my father and my mother, you killed my uncle and now you killed the police. You think that you’re above the law, but we will show you that anyone who commits a crime needs to get punished. You are going down Ramos and I’ll make sure you get what you deserve.” Raven said, her voice echoing in the room.

“You are nothing now,” Raven said, her voice filled with finality. “And you never should have been anything more than that. You are a heartless man who feels no remorse for the innocent lives you have killed. So I’ll make sure that you pay for your crimes.”

“I’ll make sure to find you and make you pay for publicly humiliating me.” Ramos said.

“You hear me! I will find you and then end you.”

Raven stared at Ramos from the cctv cameras in the party hall, her face devoid of emotion.

“You can try,” she said, her voice cold. “But you will not succeed. You’re finished, Ramos. Do you understand that? You’re done. There’s no coming back from this.”

Ramos’s eyes filled with rage and hatred, but he knew that Raven was right. He was beaten, his life in ruins. And there was nothing he could do to change that.

“No, I will make sure I find you and end you, Raven.

The mistake I made was to not have killed you when I had the chance.” Ramos said, his voice filled with anger.

“I’ll like to see you try, Ramos because not only did I expose your secrets at the party but I also sent it to the media. It should be on tv as we speak.” Raven said.

Ramos’s eyes widened as he processed what she had said. The implications of what she had done hit him like a physical blow. He had thought he was invincible, untouchable. But Raven had taken him down, and she had done it in front of the whole world. There was no hiding from that.

“You’ll never win,” he said, his voice desperate. “I’ll fight you to the end. I’ll never give up.”

“It’s already over, Ramos,” Raven said, her voice quiet but firm. “You just don’t know it yet.”

Ramos stood there, his whole world crashing down around him. He felt the ground slipping out from under him, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. His hands trembled as he realized the extent of his downfall.

“You know the mistake you made it, Ramos was that you killed that innocent cop because he did his duty.” Raven said.

“No… the mistake I made is that fact that I didn’t kill you when I had the chance and now you are my greatest regret.” Ramos said.

“Well… you know what they say “You never know that a scorpion is in your house until you start cleaning.” Raven said.

Ramos was pissed. Raven had made his political allies leave him and now he doesn’t know what to do.

“You may think that you have won Raven, but this is only the beginning.” I will make sure that I find you and kill you with my hands.” Ramos said.

Raven laughed, the sound cold and mocking. “You really think you can find me?” she asked, her eyes narrowing. “You don’t know who you’re dealing with. I’m not some ordinary person you can just track down and kill. I’m much more than that.”

“You think you’re better than me?” Ramos said, his voice shaking with rage. “You think you’re untouchable?”

“I am untouchable,” Raven said, her voice calm and confident. “Because I have something you’ll never have: friends.

Ramos was stunned by this statement. He had never thought of Raven as someone who had friends, who had people who cared about her.

He had always seen her as a cold and ruthless individual, someone who was out for herself and no one else except her father. But now, he was beginning to see that there might be more to her than he had ever realized.

“Friends?” he asked, his voice filled with disbelief. “You have friends?”

“More than you could ever imagine,” Raven said. “They’re the reason I’m still standing here today. They’re the reason you’ll never win.”

“Your friends can’t protect you from me,” Ramos said, his voice growing louder and more desperate. “They can’t save you. I’ll find a way to get to you, no matter what.”

“You’re wrong,” Raven said, her eyes blazing with determination. “My friends are stronger than you could ever imagine. They’re the ones who have helped me become who I am today, and they’ll continue to help me in the future. I’m not afraid of you, Ramos. I never have been.”

“When I do find you, you’ll be scared of me.” Ramos said.

“I like to see you try, because there is something you have never realized about me Ramos. And that the fact that you don’t remember what you did many years ago.” Raven said.

“What is that?” Ramos asked

“Don’t you worry, Ramos… you’ll find out soon enough….
