The computers were all top–of–the–line, brand new products, accompanied by a variety of drawing tools. Freya was quite pleased with the setup. The only drawback was its location on the 28th floor,
uncomfortably close to Nathaniel, the source of her nightmares.
Meanwhile, Ozzy entered Nathaniel’s office, documents in hand.
Upon entering, he was met with Mr. Morgan’s stern expression. Ozzy was taken aback, but maintained his respectful demeanor as he stood beside him. Xavier, a computer whiz, accompanied Ozzy.
Lately, Xavier had been assisting him in recovering the damaged video files he had retrieved from the prison. He had managed to restore some of them that day, but his expression was one of
concern.
“Mr. Morgan,” Ozzy began, presenting the investigation materials to Nathaniel, “Mr. Rivera has regained consciousness, and the Rivera family has taken him from the hospital. We’ve lost track of them and have no idea where they’ve gone.”
Nathaniel’s frown deepened, and he gestured for Ozzy to leave.
This was the first time Ozzy had lost someone’s trail, and he exited the chairman’s office with a sense of
unease.
Nathaniel glanced at the USB drive in Xavier’s hand, his expression weary, “Play it on the computer.”
“Nathan, I think there’s a serious issue,” Xavier said hurriedly, taking a deep breath, “The video file is beyond repair, but there’s a segment of an audio file, listen to it.”
Nathaniel frowned as Xavier found a laptop and played the conversation.
Initially, there were some glitching noises, grating and harsh, followed by Freya’s sobbing, sounding like a woman driven to madness, alone in an empty warehouse. Her mental state seemed precarious.
Hearing Freya repeatedly call his name, Nathaniel’s expression subtly shifted.
Freya’s voice was raspy, likely from someone damaging her vocal cords.
“Nathaniel! Nathaniel! One day… I will make you pay the price…”
“Nathaniel… One day…”
Her cries and curses at Nathaniel gradually softened into a whimper.
Then, a young man’s voice could be heard, seemingly taking care of her gently, whispering words of comfort. His words were indistinct, but his tone was clearly devoid of malice towards Freya.
