Chapter 63: You Can Count On Me
As Light walked out of the room, Lily’s eyes found Gary’s cold ones. Seeing the accusations in his eyes, she lifted her hands in surrender. “I was not aware he was coming. I swear I was not let it on,” she hurriedly explained, and Gary let out a frustrated sigh.
“I know. He has our family traits in him; he’s determined and stubborn, he would not have stopped until he met me, it’s something I had done when I found out about him also.” Gary scoffed as he relaxed into the chair. “It runs in the family, and seeing the bruise on his lips, I can tell he fought with his father before he came to see me,” he added.
“I thought you were the one who hit him,” Alana chimed, earning a glare from Gary. “And why would I hit him? On the face, no less? You think I want to ruin his pretty boy appearance?” He asked, and Alana shrugged.
Lily sighed as she examined Gary. Although he was putting on a strong front, she could tell he was affected by the sudden meeting between him and his twin brother. She had met a lot of people in both lifetimes to know when someone is trying not to let their real emotions show, “What will you do?” She asked, and Gary raised a brow in question.
“What do you mean? What will I do? I’m going to keep ignoring them like they did not exist because to me they don’t exist. Him meeting me now changes nothing,” he replied boldly, making Lily pursed her lips.
“He’s innocent…” Before she could finish her words, Gary interrupted her with a shake of his head. “I don’t care if he is innocent or not. It’s my decision not to have anything to do with that sperm donor and his family, not after how they treated me and my mother previously.” He declared this and walked out of the studio without looking back.
The room remained silent for several minutes after his departure, Lily deep in thoughts about ways to help the two brothers, while Alana remained lost and confused about the whole situation.
Unable to cope with the silence anymore, Alana spoke up, “Why not get your things arranged upstairs? I still have to pack up the dresses going out for delivery tomorrow.”
Finally getting back to reality, Lily raised an eyebrow. “Tomorrow?” she questioned curiously.
“You set tomorrow as the day for the delivery of the online orders; did you forget? And the new set of tailors you employed are also going to start tomorrow,” Alana explained.
Lily’s eyes widened in shock and dread. Amidst the evening’s emotional whirlwind, she had indeed forgotten about the scheduled delivery and the arrival of the new tailors the following day. Her mind had been all over the place after her arrival back in the city.
The news that Hamilton was researching new software had reached her ears almost immediately. Unlike the masses that had been deceived by the announcement, she knew too well that the software they were researching was the one she had left behind in her past life. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
She had chosen to deal with Hamilton last after she got everything in place, but considering they were still struggling to use ready-made software, she decided to give them a little push.
‘The software is only an upgraded version that goes hand in hand with Nex. Mother had been working on it to renew the partnership between Alpha Tech and the company back then. Since Alpha Tech is buying the rights to Nex, there is no need to leave the software to them for use,’ she thought to herself as a smirk appeared on her face.
Thinking about the chaos it would cause the family if they found out that Alpha Tech had the software, an evil smile blossomed on Lily’s face.
‘I hope you are not yet regretting your past decisions. Wait a little bit more, and I’ll make you curse the day you were born, Henry!’ With that thought, she excused herself and took her bag to the second floor of the studio, where she would be living henceforth.
After making sure that her things were in place, Lily got to work immediately. She began rewriting the programme for the upgraded Nex software from scratch, changing and removing some codes to make the program even more advanced than the one in her part-time life.
It was a race against time. Now that Hamilton has decided to work with the software, if she doesn’t hurry it up, her plans to delay their growth will be foiled.
{It’s time you invest and have your own tech company, don’t you think?} The system voiced as Lily stopped writing the programme the following morning.
“I’m going to buy it now,” she replied with a cold expression. As she rewrote the programme, the memories from her previous life kept coming back; they were adding to her rage and determination to get her revenge on the family.
{You still have a lot to learn; however, this is the best time to begin making your mark in the tech world. You’ve already shown your face as a fashion genius, and although you haven’t reached the peak yet, you have made the right connection at an early stage.}
“The tech world is currently undergoing a huge storm. I won’t get carried away by the storm if I enter now, but why would I give myself extra work to clean up those scum when others can do it for me?” She asked with a chuckle as she stood up to stretch.
“I’m not in a hurry; I have enough time on my hands, and with you aiding me, My comeback will be smooth and stressless,” she declared with a glint in her eyes, and the system scoffed playfully.
{It’s good you still know you have to depend on me! You have to treat me well in the future if you don’t want me to abandon you!} It threatened playfully, and Lily chuckled.
“Of course, when don’t I treat you well? It’s time; I have to meet up with the new employees,” she announced, and she immediately went to freshen up.

“Hello everyone, welcome to Lily’s fashion!” Alana was greeted with a polite smile as she led the three new tailors they had employed to the waiting room, where Lily was already waiting for them.
“This is Miss Lily; she’s our boss,” she introduced, and the three nodded as they greeted Lily politely.
She stepped forward and shook hands with three of them, with a polite smile on her face. These three had been single-handedly picked by the system after she had gone through the list of applications on the online form she posted.
Even though they don’t have much experience in the field compared to some of the other applicants, the three of them had the traits needed for a start-up business.
“I’m delighted to have you all on board,” Lily said warmly, gesturing for the new tailors to take a seat. “As you may know, Lily’s Fashion is still a relatively new venture, and we’re looking to expand our team with passionate individuals who are eager to learn and grow with us.”
The three tailors exchanged excited glances, clearly enthusiastic about the opportunity to work in a budding fashion house.
“I understand that you may not have as much experience as some of the other applicants but experience wasn’t the only thing I was looking for when I put out the form.” Lily continued,
“I believe that passion, dedication, and a strong work ethic are just as important, if not more so, in building a successful team. I’m confident that you all possess those qualities, and I’m excited to see how we can help each other flourish in this industry.”
“This is Alana; she is the manager here, and you can go to her for anything you need while working here. She’ll also be the one to give you direction on what to do and how the store works; please cooperate with her,” Lily advised.
She felt a need to make the hierarchy in the store known since all three of them were a lot older than Alana and they might have negative ideas that needed to be curbed early.
“She’ll be overseeing your work, and she’ll be the one working closely with you three. We have one other staff member, but since he is a part-time worker who works as our model, you’ll only be meeting him on a limited number of days,” she explained.
“Your salary is as discussed previously; if you have any questions, please ask,” she urged carefully, and the three shared a glance before shaking their heads.
“It’s all clear,”
“Alright then. Alana meets Grace, Philip, and Diana. You’ll be in charge of them and make sure nothing goes wrong,” she introduced, and Alana smiled.
“You can count on me, boss!”
