Chapter 72: Digging A Grave For Herself
“That’s a lie! There is no way he could be allergic to cinnamon rolls!” Merrisa argued, “I’ve seen him eat cinnamon rolls several times! It must be a plot by this wrench!”
“Should I believe your report or the medical report? And are you accusing the competition managers of colluding with the participants?” The manager demanded coldly, shutting up her argument with a glare.
“Tha…That’s not what I meant. I was just worried about my teammate,” Merissa choked out, unable to raise her voice under the manager’s glare.
“It might be inconvenient, but there will be a change in your team’s setup. We’ve informed your school, and a new representative will be sent. The next stage of the competition will continue as scheduled, so get ready for your presentation with no delay,” the manager explained, and she walked away with the rest of her group.
Lily smirked upon seeing Merissa’s red face. “I can’t believe there could be someone as shameless as you; how could you accuse someone else of the crime you committed? I would have lost my chances at being known if your plot had succeeded.” She teased further, annoying Merrisa.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Merissa glared and turned away with a buggy. “Let’s see who will laugh last. I just hope you won’t lose so badly. After all, you were once my loyal slave,” she taunted and walked away.
“By the time we are done, you won’t even be fit to stay in the same room as me!” Lily mattered.
“I really hate her. I hate her more than I hate Evie and that’s saying a lot,” Alana said as she scowled at Merrisa’s retreating.
“What are you going to do? She tried ruining your reputation just now.”
“Nothing,” Lily replied with a shrug. “I don’t need to do anything to make her lose. She’ll naturally trip and fall. That’s just how she is,” she added with a shrug, just in time for Alana to trip on a fall; however, before she could fall, she regained her balance.
The scene between the two was quickly edited and posted by the media team, and it immediately drew the netizen’s attention as both parties were already known to be mortal enemies.
‘I knew it! There is no way both of them could be in the same place without causing trouble! Bring it on, I’m all for the drama’
‘Oh my! Is my handsome Soren alright? Who would have thought he had an allergy!’
‘Hmph! Someone needs to bring that stupid Merrisa down a peg. I mean, she’s growing to be a second Evie’s
‘She’s already met her match. Lily is so easygoing, yet they are always targeting her. Vicious people. Is it a crime to be beautiful and talented?’
‘But who do you think will be replacing Soren? The only person I can think of doesn’t enjoy participating in all these competitions! And he definitely doesn’t get along well with Merissa.
‘You guessed it right! I just checked the school website; apparently, the new replacement is Calvin. He does not get along well with Merrisa, but he doesn’t like Lily either.
“Are you going to be fine?” Alana was worried as she read the online post about their new competitor.
“I heard he is better than Soren but hates participating in competitions. Do you think we can outshine him?” Alana asked with concern, lacing her voice.
“You should be worried, not me. I’m a designer; I’m going up against that despicable trash, and you are going up against him.” Lily replied with a smile, making Alana sigh in defeat.
“Stop sighing like an old woman, or you’ll grow old quicker. Besides, you have nothing to worry about. Two of your works that were presented by Evie won against his works, so be proud of yourself. And I told you, we are here to have fun, not stress!” She reprimanded Alana carefully while poking.
“So what’s your plan? The first stage is a freestyle, and you can go all out.
What do you intend to use?” Gary asked as a change of subject while munching on some sour grapes.
“I’m going with this semi-formal design,” Lily replied, lifting her sketch pad for him to see.
Lily’s sketch showed a cool semi-formal outfit made just for a guy. The shirt was made from a smooth and shiny silk-satin mix that looked both fancy and comfy.
Its deep blue colour added a cool vibe, and the way the light bounced off the fabric made it stand out.
The shirt was sewn to fit perfectly, with clean lines and a modern cut that would make anyone look good.
A small pattern of delicate silver threads made a neat geometric design on the fabric, adding a little something special. The collar was sharp and stiff, with a single silver button that made you look at the neckline.
The sleeves of the shirt were a bit loose, getting tighter near the wrists, and had French cuffs. Some custom-made silver cufflinks with a design like the pattern on the fabric made it look even better.
Lily picked classic, simple pants made from a soft wool-silk blend in a charcoal grey colour. The fabric was light and felt good, with a little bit of stretch for easy movement.
To finish the look, Lily made a matching belt from nice, dark blue Italian leather. The silver buckle was made just for this outfit, matching the shirt’s cufflinks and pattern.
“I know I should go all out, and God help me. I wanted to do something out of a fantasy world with robes, flowers, and intricate embroidery, but we have limited time, so we can’t do that. I’m glad the whole process will be judged, not like the Paris show,” Lily explained.
“I’ve already made the necessary arrangements for the fabrics we need; they will be delivered tonight, and then we will begin the design. The whole process will be recorded and shown to the public, so we have to be careful and fancy,” she instructed, and Alana nodded with a wink.
“Do you want me to make a guess about the design Merrisa would use first?” Lily asked with a raised finger and a smirking face.
“What design?”
“She’ll have to go for the shimmering dress with the large bow and the long split,” Lily declared.
“It’s simple and catchy. She’ll want to leave an impression on the people, but at the same time she would not want unnecessary attention drawn to herself, so the first round for her is going to be average,” she explained.
“If she does use the blue dress, she’s digging a grave for herself with the public. I’m looking forward to it.”
