CHAPTER 51
John’s POV
Nathan may be family, but I would never consider him as such. To me, he is nothing but a bastard who stole my rightful place and inheritance. He had denied my request for funds for my business or any financial support whatsoever.
The situation had gotten so bad that I couldn’t even indulge in the luxuries befitting of an Everton; even my friends have been so disappointed in me that I couldn’t even afford our basic needs like cigarettes and drinks anymore. I wanted Nathan gone. With him out of the picture, my father will come to realise that he made a mistake, making him the director of the hospital and the sole signatory to the business account, Only then will I reclaim my place as the rightful heir.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Everyone has been entangled by his manipulative nature, including my father and sister, even Judith, the woman he assaulted. Judith has been so entangled in his web that she even forgave him easily, cared about him, and is still helplessly in love with him.
When I heard of how she defended in the precinct, I was extremely upset. Despite all the plans I had put in place, I was extremely disappointed when I learnt of Felix’s failure, so I decided to step in, take action into my hands, and make sure he gets the punishment he deserves.
My plans were so perfect that he can’t easily get out of it like the last time, and I’m certain he’s still going to have a hard time getting out of these predicaments even with my father’s affluence and influence.
With the help of Felix, I hired a private detective to tail him and get some vital information for me. While tailing him, the private detective discovered that he had an intimate call girl whom he pays handsomely well for satisfying his sexual desires.
I approached her and struck a deal with her. The plan was for her to lure Nathan to have sex with her, which she would then frame as assault, and she succeeded. An assault can be ignored once, but not twice. I also pulled a string with a detective friend to arrest him and also instigate the press against him, turning the public attention and sentiments towards the case. Now he is in a case of dilemma, and I’m certain he regrets treating me the way he does.
I made sure to reveal myself to him as the mastermind behind his misfortune, but I’m so smart to clean my tracks and never leave any traces behind. Should my father or sister know about my involvement, I’m certain I would be disowned and forgotten.
“It’s only a matter of weeks before my broke days will be over and I will start living large like an Everton. I will reclaim my title in the social world as John Everton, the cheerful spender and generous giver.” I mused inwardly, seated in a bar, drinking to my newly acquired victory.
Catherine’s POV
I was seated in my room reflecting on how my life has taken a drastic turn in the past months; my financial situation had gotten so bad that I couldn’t keep up with my basic expenses anymore.
The insessant ringing of my phone drew me out of my thoughts. The call was from an unknown person summoning me to a bar that there was a deal for me. I got dressed hurriedly and went to the bar elated with the thought that it was the client who needed my service after months of not hearing from Nathan.
Nathan was my biggest and favourite client. He pays me well, made love with me passionately and not roughly like some other men, treated me with a kindness rare in my line of work, and most clients treated me with little or no respect.
With all these qualities in him, I fell in love with him. However, I kept my feelings hidden as I feared that he might stop patronising me altogether if he ever discovered. I was disheartened when He stopped calling for my service, so I just thought that he probably got tired of me and perhaps found someone new, but then I learnt of his engagement. I was a bit sad and surprised because I have never seen him as the romantic type.
To my surprise, when I got there, I got to know that the call wasn’t about a client but for a totally different situation. The person who had called me was Nathan’s stepbrother, John. A man who was the complete opposite of Nathan. He was arrogant, rude, and disrespectful.
John presented a deal before me, which was to set Nathan up and falsely accuse him of assault and offer me ten million euros. I inquired about the reason why he wanted to ruin his own brother, but he dismissed my question, stating that it was none of my concern.
Initially, I was skeptical about it, and it does look like a shabby plan. “What if it fails?” I thought and voiced my fears, but John was able to convince me, stating that he has a perfect plan that won’t fail, and moreover, I need the money to sort out my expenses, especially as I’m on the verge of being thrown out of my apartment.
I accepted the deal with an upfront payment of five million euros and swung into plan, which was to lure Nathan to the hotel under the pretence of needing comfort. I never thought he would show up, and deep down inside me I wished he never came, but he came anyways and consoled me.
Before he arrived, I already set up a hidden camera and served him a drugged drink. The drink was to arouse him sexually and make him have sex with me without being able to control himself. Which he eventually did, and John reported him to the authorities. A medical report that stated that I needed four weeks to heal, which I truly needed since he brutally assaulted me because of the drug effect.
Now that he has been arrested, I am consumed by regrets and wish I hadn’t done it, but it is too late and there’s nothing to do anymore. My life is at stake. I might be imprisoned for false allegations, or John might end up killing me if he ever senses any hint of betrayal.
I’m just a girl with no one to run to for help. No one to help me escape from this nightmare. “How did I become like this, trading myself and risking my life for a price?” I berated myself as a tear escaped my eyes and slid down my cheeks as I gazed at the garden of the hospital, heavy-hearted with remorse.
