The Remorseful Brothers Novel

Chapter 60

Madeline redressed and refreshed her makeup.

She sat in front of the mirror, letting the others handle the details for her.

In the mirror’s reflection, the long, black–haired Madeline was gorgeous. A little makeup would already be enough to have people falling head- over–heels for her.

Her eyes

s were dark.

Nolan was dubbed the Phantom Healer, but not because he looked horrifying

On the contrary, he was extremely beautiful.

He was slightly feminine, but he wasn’t lacking in a man’s directness.

He was thin, almost emaciated, giving people the impression that he was ill.

The coldness in his bones seeped through his image, revealing a sense of evil that terrified others

‘Knock.

‘Knock.”

‘Knock.”

Someone was rapping their knuckles on the door.

Hazel turned around and saw a man in old–fashioned black and blue clothes standing at the door.

He was tall and thin, with cold white skin, looking somewhat fragile and sickly.

His almond–shaped eyes were slightly upturned, with a seductive red tinge to them.

His thin lips were pale around the edges, but his lips were red.

Beautiful

But dangerous.

Hazel lowered her head and said, “Mr. Fisher, you’re here.”

She took two steps back, only stopping when her waist bumped against the wall “Mr. Simmons will be back tonight.”

Nolan nodded. “You’re dismissed.”

Everyone in the room exited in a flurry of activity.

Only Madeline and Nolan were left.

From her perch on her stool, Madeline took in the reflection of the man at the door in the mirror.

Her back was tense as she greeted him. “Nolan.”

Nolan walked behind Madeline and put his slender, pale hand on her shoulder.

His thumb traced the small peach blossom tattoo on her back.

“I remember when you were leaving, all crying and saying that you wanted to live a brighter life.”

He sighed. “Well, it seems that a brighter life didn’t make you happy after all.”

Madeline lowered her eyes and said helplessly. “Yeah. You’re right, Nolan. What I thought was a better life turned out to be hell after allTM

“I went to see your once. Nolan smiled serenely. “At your school, I looked at you from a distance. You know, I respect you the most. Of course, would remember when you said that you wanted to be free of the past”

Tin sorry, Nolan… Madeline blamed hersell.

“It’s okay Aren’t you back now?” Nolan gently cast his gaze down at her and delicately twisted her hair in his hand. “Your hair’s grown a lot. You look. different from before. Like an adult now”

Nolan sighed gently, bent down, and his hands slipped from her shoulders down to her arms.

Like a hug from behind, his arms encircled her. He grasped one of her hands in his, placing them on her abdomen, like they were intimate lovers.

But he didn’t press too hard, so she did not feel uncomfortable.

He acted like a gentleman, with a proper demeanor.

“Maddie, let me help you out, okay? As long as I want them dead, they won’t survive tonight. Everything they’ve done to you, I’ll repay them just the same. You can watch thein die with your own eyes.

Madeline was stiff all over.

Of course, she knew what Nolan was up to

He could have them all dead, silently and painfully.

She pursed her lips and said, “Nolan, Caleb has told me that I can handle it myself.”

Nolan chuckled in her ear. “Calebs has a bad temper, but he listens to you th

you to remain in the world. I’m afraid you’ll be hurt and sad.”

“He can’t bear to see you suffering, but… I don’t want anything that could harm you to r

Nolan smiled gently and said, “I’m doing it for your own good. You will understand”

Madeline felt a chill emanating from the person behind her, and the hair on her arms stood straight up.

She smiled hurriedly and said, “Nolan, let’s not bring up that stuff, okay? We haven’t seen each other for such a long time. How are your medical skills? Tell me about what’s going on around you lately”

As Madeline spoke, she stood up

There was no b

was no hint of danger in Nolan’s smile. There was only Madeline left in his eyes.

It was like an abyss into which she could fall.

When he saw Madeline stand, he grabbed her hand again and led her downstairs.

In an apathetic voice, he said, “They’re all dead.”

Madeline was stunned. “Who’s dead?”

Those who urged you to leave me are all dead” Nolan walked slowly and leisurely, as if he was talking about something insignificant.

He felt Madeline’s hand tremble.

He surmised that he might have been too straightforward and had frightened Madeline.

But he did everything for Madeline’s benefit. If he coaxed her well enough, she would know what she wanted.

Madeline’s face was pale, and her back was ramrod straight.

Nolan led her to the sofa, and Hazel approached to pour

a cup of tea.

Nolan had a habit of taking a sip and checking for poison before giving Madeline the other cup.

“Maddie, you’re too kind. You’re easy to deceive. Those people weren’t looking after your best interests. If they were, I wouldn’t have hurt th They just want to drive you away so that they can occupy your position. You understand, don’t you?”

Of course, Madeline understood clearly.

There weren’t that many saints in the Phantom Organization

Theer who were desperate enough to want her gone all wanted her status and better resources

And, of course, to reduce the number of competitors.

However, Madeline took advantage of the matter and didn’t consider herself as being used.

“Nolan.”

Nolan placed the hot teacup in her palm and said, “A girl should drink more hot water. Isn’t your period coming in a few days? Because you suffered as a child, your health is poor.”

He continued. “I remember you being in pain all night the first time you had your period. At that time, I was thinking about how to make it feel less painful for you. If only I could experience the pain for you.”

Even Nolan thought it was funny upon further introspection.

He was a man. How could he experience it on behalf of his Madeline?

“Do they still

now!”

Madeline pursed her lips and said, “They still hurt, but it’s tolerable.”

Nolan was a little crestfallen.

His eyes were alight with determination, as if the moon itself were in his irises. Til cure you, alright?”

He raised his hand to touch the side of Madeline’s face and said with a gentle voice, “I can’t bear to see your pain.

Madeline took a sip from the cup in her hand.

Off to the side, Hazel looked pale..

Although Mr. Fisher had said that dysmenorrhea could be likened to a terminal illness, she couldn’t laugh at all and was still deathly afraid. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Mr. Simmons killing someone was expected.

But Mr. Fisher was different. He could be smiling one moment, then suddenly take someone out the next.

He was terrifying.

Madeline noticed that Hazel’s hand was trembling slightly. “Hazel, please help me clean up my room. I don’t like a messy dresser.

Hazel hurried away as if she had just been granted amnesty,

Madeline pretended to be calm.

But the person next to her laughed in a low voice.

“My Maddie is still so kind, I won’t kill innocent people. Don’t worry. You used to say that I don’t take human life seriously, so I’ve corrected my ways. You’ll see my change.”

Nolan’s attitude toward Madeline was also unexpected. “I know it’ll take a while for you to get used to it. It doesn’t matter. I will prove it to you”
