Chapter 2128 Hangover
Cindy spoke in whispers, but that was probably due to her personality. The person looked at Cindy and said, "You're quite generous."
It wasn't a matter of generosity, and Cindy smiled a little. "I just think that everyone should work together and share ideas. Moreover, this isn't an entry to a competition; it's just something I came up with on a whim."
The person nodded and went back to their seat.
Cindy didn't think too much about it, but when evening came, something unexpected happened. When some of them began to leave, that person walked over and invited Cindy to have dinner together.
Cindy smiled. "I have to go home now; my mom is waiting for me at home. Please go on without me."
Cindy declined their invitation since she didn't want to get too close to some colleagues. Even though they were doing it out of kindness, she wasn't ready to accept it just yet.
She wasn't a passionate person in the first place, and once she established friendships, there would be more trouble waiting for her.
To be honest, she could see that those colleagues were also fighting amongst themselves during her time here.
They were all competing with each other, and there were rumors that Serena would pick the best student to train them exclusively.
The people here were both teammates and rivals. Before this, Cindy simply didn't want to get involved in the mess, but she did know what they had been saying in secret.
When they were in the office, most people would talk bad about those who happened to be away, but they would still pretend to be close friends.
Cindy didn't want to be involved in such messy situations, and she just wanted to depend on her skills to gradually do better at work. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
That person seemed quite sincere as they tried to convince Cindy; they even said that they would invite other colleagues to join in on the fun.
However, Cindy retained her stance and said that she had to go home.
Since she had put it like that, the person knew that she wouldn't relent. In the end, they simply gave up. Meanwhile, Cindy left the company and hailed a taxi home.
She thought that she would have to be alone again, but unexpectedly, Aurora had already returned.
The woman was lying on the couch and looking at her phone.
When she saw that Cindy had come home, Aurora put down her phone and sat up. "I got stood up, but it doesn't really matter. I still have a lingering hangover, so I came back to rest."
Cindy nodded without thinking too much about it. "Does that mean you'll be able to rest properly at home?"
Aurora nodded and leaned against the couch. She mumbled, "I swear I won't drink so much in the future. This headache is insane."
Cindy remembered that Aurora once swore to never drink in the future. It was the same case with men swearing not to cheat after they were caught cheating, for no one would believe them.
Cindy walked over to the kitchen and got ready to make dinner. Although she had never gotten a hangover like Aurora's before, she once had too much to drink. It wasn't a good feeling, and it felt like her body had been emptied.
Cindy walked over to the kitchen and got ready to make dinner. Although she had never gotten a hangover like Aurora's before, she once had too much to drink. It wasn't a good feeling, and it felt like her body had been emptied.
She thought for a while and said, "Let me make some soup for you. Perhaps you'll feel better after drinking that."
Aurora agreed, and she was obviously suffering.
The soup was easy to make, and it was ready after a short while.
Meanwhile, Aurora was still complaining as she said, "This is terrible. I've slept for so long, but I don't think it has receded one bit. My head hurts and my stomach is flipping. I can't eat anything."
Cindy shook her head and walked out.
Even though most people knew how bad hangovers were, they still couldn't control themselves. Also, they had to drink even if they didn't want to in certain situations.
Cindy thought that with a situation like last night, Aurora would still have to drink regardless if she were too elated to control herself.
She placed the soup outside and proceeded to make dinner.
Aurora went to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her hair. However, even after the washing up, she still looked terribly pale.
She took the bowl of soup and stood at the kitchen entrance. "I thought I could handle my alcohol, but perhaps I got a little too wild yesterday."
