Chapter 2161 Lunch With Lucy
Cindy was sure Lucy would be dropping hints later during lunch, so she was preoccupied with figuring out how she should subtly convey her thoughts on the matter as well. She spent the morning looking through some documents, and when it was nearly time for lunch, Serena came to the office to assign a few design tasks to the trainees.
To Cindy's surprise, she was given a task as well, though hers had to be done in a pair. They had both been specifically chosen for this task.
Even so, it was enough to make Cindy thrilled.
She felt as if she had taken yet another step forward in her career. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Cindy didn't work on the design right away. Instead, she studied the information regarding the order they received. It was for a dress, but there weren't many other specifications. The only requirement was for it to be suitable for a formal event but not too conservative at the same time. The design had to be a little more casual.
She had never had to work on something with such requirements before, so she sat down and drafted out a few thoughts.
At last, it was time for lunch, and the rest of her colleagues were heading out to eat when she finally cleared her desk as well.
Cindy was a little vexed as she knew she would run into Lucy at the staff cafeteria. She would've turned down the invite if the person had just been an ordinary employee, but she didn't want to offend a designer even though Otis was the one who helped her get this job.
In the end, she had no choice but to head over to the staff cafeteria.
At first, she didn't see any sign of Lucy, so she went to get a tray of food first. Once her food was served, someone walked over to her with a tray of food as well. It was Lucy, and it appeared that she had just arrived at the cafeteria to get her food.
Once Lucy got her food, she led Cindy to a table in the corner.
They were seated further away from everyone, so there wasn't anyone else around them.
Cindy followed Lucy over as she knew the latter wanted to talk to her.
The two of them seated together drew a lot of people's attention. It couldn't be helped since Cindy was the subject of public interest right now.
Ian's out there, taking the entertainment industry by storm while I'm the subject of all kinds of gossip here at the office.
Cindy was rather frazzled by this.
Even though they'd sat down, Lucy didn't get to the point right away. First, she asked if Cindy was having any difficulties with work before moving on to her studies and the results of her last design assessment.
Perhaps it was Lucy's gentle personality and soft, sweet voice that made her come across as totally harmless.
Naturally, Cindy had no complaints. She even brought up the fact that she'd learned a lot from Serena and how happy she was about the work she was currently doing.
Lucy nodded. "That's good. It's important to enjoy your work."
Cindy wholeheartedly agreed before adding, "I'm so glad I was assigned to Miss Warhol. She's strict, but she's also very accomplished. I thought I'd learned a lot back in school, but after working with her, I realized that everything taught to us in school was just the tip of the iceberg. I'm only now getting to learn more about the true skills of design from Miss Warhol."

Lucy looked up at Cindy, but her smile remained unchanged. "Miss Warhol is indeed very talented. If she's willing to teach you everything she has to teach, maybe you'll become like her in the future."
Cindy smiled without responding.
After taking a few more bites, Lucy piped up, "By the way, I heard you previously shared a meal with Mr. Kaufmann and Mr. Frye, the one who does investment banking. Are you close with them?"
Cindy recalled Serena telling her that Lucy liked Gary.
Well, she didn't like digging into other people's private matters, so she didn't ask Lucy what her relationship was with Gary.
All she could do was say, "Oh, no. Not at all. I wouldn't dare to say we're close. They're far too distinguished for someone like me to hang out with. I just had a few dealings with Mr. Frye a while back, and when I was a bit lost while searching for a job, he said he could help me. It's not because we have a good relationship. He just took pity on me."
