Chapter 2175
Chapter 2175 They Were Barely Even Acquainted
Lucy was taken aback for a second as she could sense a hint of hostility in Cindy's tone.
In actuality, given the differences between their positions in the company, Lucy didn't need to fear Cindy at all. However, now that Gary was added to the picture, she dared not clash with Cindy head- on.
Well, it wasn't that she dared not, but she didn't want to.
Cindy might have entered the company through the back door, but so did Lucy, and the same thing applied to their good affiliations with Otis.
However, adding Gary to the equation, she had this inclination to avoid being on Cindy's bad side. Thus, she had to bear with it even if she didn't like how Cindy talked to her.
Cindy exited the car first when the elevator arrived at their floor, and she didn't even turn to bid Lucy farewell but instead headed straight to her desk.
Lucy, on the other hand, waited for a moment before leaving the car. After that, she stood in front of the elevator and gazed at Cindy's leaving figure.
The warmth and smile on her face had disappeared at this point. Though her lips quirked upward, she didn't look joyous.
Meanwhile, Cindy submerged herself in work after returning to her desk. However, she wasn't in the brightest mood. The working environment exasperated her, and she was ruffled by Ian's issue. It didn't help that she mulled over it the entire lunch break.
Naturally, her ideas were less to be desired. After sketching for another while, she crumpled the paper into a ball and chucked it aside exasperatedly.
In the end, she stopped everything altogether, leaned back against her chair, and cleared out her mind first.
Moments later, her phone buzzed a couple of times, signaling that she had received a message.
She checked to find it was from an unknown number, but she still opened the message anyway, and what she had read amused her.
It was from Valerie. She had messaged to explain the scandal was fake and that she and Ian were nothing more than friends. She hoped that Cindy would believe in them.
Cindy wasn't sure how Valerie got her phone number, but she thought the woman's way of handling this was rather interesting.
It was likely Valerie had never dealt with a situation like this before. If anything, Cindy thought there was no reason to explain anything to anyone.
As long as Valerie didn't do anything underhanded, the best case was to do nothing, no matter how ugly the outside world painted the picture.
Cindy thought for a moment and ultimately decided to reply to her text, saying that she knew the scandal was fake and that she didn't let it get to her. Not only that, she advised Valerie to focus on the production and not overthink.
Very quickly, Valerie texted back, but it was only ceremonious this time. She just said they should grab a meal together sometime.
The conversation ended very quickly after Cindy agreed to the idea.
After having the conversation with Valerie, she felt much better and recovered for the most part as well. Hence, she got back to work right away. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Meanwhile, Valerie turned to Ian after putting her phone down and clicking her tongue a few times before commenting, "Your missus is rather aloof, I must say."
Ian didn't even need to read Valerie's conversation with Cindy to know just how the latter interacted with Valerie.
At that, he smirked. "She's aloof to everyone."
She was affectionate and clingy only toward him.
It wasn't that Ian was complaining. On the contrary, he liked that about her, for she gave only him all her gentleness and affection.
In the end, Valerie let out a murky breath and asked, "Seriously, though, the four of us should have a meal together one day. You bring your wife, and I'll bring my boyfriend."
At that, Ian glanced at Valerie. It was only recently that he and Valerie had gotten friendlier since getting to know each other. They were barely even acquainted before this.
Sure, the behind-the-scenes clips painted a sweet image, but it was all fake; it was all editing magic.
At that time, they were barely even friends. It was only after Valerie poured her heart out to him that they got closer.
But who'd have thought the outside world decided to make an issue out of it just when they had gotten on friendlier terms?!
Meanwhile, Cindy had a little trouble resisting when it was time to clock out. She called Aurora, but to her surprise, Aurora said she was still busy outside and wasn't sure what time she'd be able to arrive home.
