The substitute bride is a mute

Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Displeased, Sally furrowed her brows. There was no end to this speech-impaired woman!

"You pushed her into the water and all the maids witnessed it. Do you still want to deny it?"

These people were all the way at the front of the manor when she fell into the water. Just how good were these people's eyesight?

The lie wasn't convincing at all.

Judy clenched her jaw. She obviously did not buy these ridiculous excuses. But she couldn't go against their claims and insist on viewing the surveillance footage either. The atmosphere turned stiff.

Then, a gentle and familiar voice rang out from behind them.

"I can prove that she didn't push her."

Judy froze at the sight of the man who appeared.

It was… Doctor Phelps?

The tall and slender young man approached them and upon reaching Sally's side, said, "Mom, I'm home."

Sally broke into a blinding smile and reached for her son's arm lovingly. "Weren't you only coming back later in the afternoon, Dom? Why are you home early?"

Dominic smiled. "I've actually returned half a month ago, but I've been interning at the hospital. I wanted to surprise you today. I didn't expect to run into this scene."

As he spoke, his gaze fell onto Jenna. The smile on his face faded slightly as he continued.

"I clearly saw you falling in on your own. Why did you accuse Ms. Blake of pushing you?"

Everyone was stunned as the words left his lips.

Jenna's expression in particular shifted mildly. She bit her lip and said, "I-I clearly felt her pushing me, maybe… maybe I was mistaken?"

Lora was about to interject when Sally shot her another look. The housekeeper immediately stayed quiet.

Her son was firm. Since he'd already seen it, any other attempts at convincing him otherwise would only result in unpleasantries.

As Sally thought of this, she looked toward Judy and said half-heartedly, "The pair of you are biological sisters, not acquaintances—a misunderstanding like this is nothing."

Jenna took the exit that Sally was handing to her and promptly nodded along. "Yeah, Judy, maybe I was mistaken. I’m sorry, don't hold it against me."

Judy didn't want to accept her half-hearted apology. She didn't spare a single glance at Jenna, but focused her attention solely on Dominic.

This man had helped her once again.

She made a gesture of gratitude at him. She was genuinely thankful for him.

He understood what she meant and shot her a series of nods.

He was also surprised at the start.

The woman that captured his interest at first sight was his brother's wife?

For reasons unknown, he felt an unexplainable feeling inside him. It seemed like pity but also wore a face of regret. He didn't dwell on it, and proceeded to direct his gaze back to Sally.

"Let's just let this go, mom." Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

She understood that her son wanted them to discontinue this debacle. He'd always been like this. He'd always intervene if he felt like something was unjust—the man had a strong sense of justice.

She didn't want to upset her son over a trivial issue, so she nodded with a smile. "Let's go, I haven't seen you in ages. Let's go and have a nice conversation."

Everyone gradually dispersed. Soon, only Jenna and Judy remained.

Jenna picked herself off the ground and looked at her sister quizzically. "You and Dominic know each other?"

Judy ignored her.

Then, she continued sarcastically, "You're really your mother's daughter, Judy."

She then walked off, leaving behind a cold-faced Judy.

Ever since she first stepped foot into the Blake mansion more than ten years ago, Jenna had always called her a vixen's daughter. She claimed that she was only born because her mother seduced her father.

A younger Judy wanted to tell them that her mother was not that type of person. Her mother was gentle and knowledgeable, and was the best mother in the entire world!

She realized how stupid her ideas were after she grew up.

A bunch of leeches who didn't know right from wrong wouldn't care about the truth.
