Before leaving the military hospital, Cecilia and Elaine went to see Christopher.
After being bedridden for a few days due to illness, he was much thinner, and his facial features were
more defined.
He was not given an antidote because a remedy for the side effects had not yet been developed.
Cecilia had been using acupuncture and medicinal baths to detoxify the poison. Although the effect
was not obvious, Christopher looked less pallid than before.
He lay on the bed in the sterile ward and looked at Cecilia and Elaine through the glass wall, shooting
them a weak smile.
Elaine’s heartache was palpable in her expression as she raised her hand to greet him.
Then, she left with Cecilia.
They got into their car.
Once inside, Elaine asked, “Can’t Christopher be discharged f from the sterile ward now?”
Cecilia nodded and explained, “Not yet, but soon.”
In fact, Christopher’s condition was well enough for him to receive care in the intensive care unit.
But, his wounds had not yet healed. Cecilia was worried he would catch an infection and suffer
inflammation and fever. That would allow the toxin which they had painstakingly suppressed to spread
again.
So, she had Christopher stay in the sterile ward for a while longer.
Elaine held Cecilia’s hand and asked somberly, “Ceci, tell me the truth. Can that pharmacologist,
Zachary, really cure Christopher?”
After all, Zachary had suffered at the hands of the Shaw family, and Elaine felt sorry for him.
Cecilia couldn’t make any guarantees, so she said, “Don’t worry, Grandma Elaine. I won’t let
Christopher get hurt.”
“Ceci, don’t force yourself. If you can’t do it, I can ask the Pharmaceutical Research Center for help.”

Research Center will fail to find an antidote
for Christopher!”
Cecilia took Elaine’s arm and smiled. “Whose grandma are you? You’re great!”

They went to Elaine’s bedroom and looked at the pictures of the girls she had picked.
“Ceci, I’ve chosen young ladies with military backgrounds who are engaged in related work. They can
not only share common conversation topics with Aiden and Evan but also understand their work.
Please help me look through the picks. There’s a general introduction of the lady written on the back of
each photo.”
Looking at the thick stack of photos, Cecilia knew Elaine was extremely worried about Aiden and
Evan’s future marriages.
“Okay, let me have a look first.”
She looked through the pile carefully and finally picked out seven photos. She then divided them into
two stacks, putting them in Elaine’s left and right hands.
Cecelia explained, “Grandma Elaine, the three on the left are suitable for Aiden, and the other four are
suitable for Evan. If the young ladies are amenable to a blind date, you can start arranging the dates
now.”
Elaine took a quick glance at the seven photos.
She picked out three photos, one in her left hand and two in her right.

to blind dates. Just arrange it.” Elaine agreed with Cecilia’s assessment and said, “Okay. I’ll take your

It wasn’t as though she had never brought up the idea of blind dates with Aiden and Evan before, but
they either dismissed her words or fooled her.
Cecilia got up and said, “Grandma Elaine, you left early in the morning. Have a rest first. I’ll cook
something nourishing for Christopher and Evan.”
“I’ll accompany you and help you.”
Cecilia pushed Elaine down by the shoulder and didn’t let the latter get

She insisted, “I have the maids and Bruce. I don’t need your help.”
After helping Elaine to lie down on the bed, Cecilia left the bedroom and went to the kitchen.
Before cooking, she called Charlie.
Charlie was currently undergoing a counseling session with Samuel.
The ringing of his phone interrupted Samuel’s words. Charlie checked the caller ID on his screen.
“Would you like to answer the phone first, Mr. Yancey?”
Charlie knew why Cecilia called him.
He shook his head and turned the phone to silent mode, replying, “I won’t answer it for now. I will call
the person back after the treatment.”
“Then, let’s continue,” declared Samuel.
The call soon hung up automatically because it was unanswered.
Seeing as Charlie didn’t answer the phone, Cecilia stopped calling and focused on cooking lunch.
While she was cooking the last soup, Charlie called.
As soon as she answered the phone, he teased, “Cecilia, you have to take a breather. You solved the
company’s issues you mentioned earlier so quickly.”
“Three days have passed. Even if it hasn’t been solved, it makes sense that I’ve taken some sort of
action, no?”

Charlie drawled, “I’ve been busy detoxifying your boyfriend recently. I have no time.”
Cecilia heard Charlie’s infuriating tone and resisted the urge to say, “That’s some good acting!”
She played along with him and said, “I’ve given you the relevant information on the toxin long ago.
Hasn’t Jeffrey made any progress yet?” “The progress is indeed slow. The main reason is that the

you were in town, so he wanted to meet you. Are you free at noon?”
Hearing this, Charlie’s heart violently skipped a beat.
He immediately agreed. “I’m free. I just finished my psychotherapy session. I’ll head to the Shaw
residence now.”
He knew about Evan’s injury, but he had to pretend to be ignorant about it.
Cecilia looked at the soup that was about to boil over and hurriedly said, “Don’t go to the Shaw
residence. Evan’s at the military hospital.”
“Why is he in the hospital? Is he hurt?”
“Let’s talk about it later.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later.”
Cecilia hung up the phone and turned off the fire, ladling the soup into a container.
She saved a portion of food for Elaine and put the rest into containers within a thermal bag.

After saying goodbye to Elaine, she went to the hospital.
When she arrived, she saw Charlie waiting for her in the lounge of the hospital lobby.
He immediately stepped forward upon spotting the two thermal bags in her hand and helped to relieve
her load,
Cecilia first went to the intensive care floor and passed the smaller meal
to a nurse.
“Take it to Christopher and tell him I can’t come to him until a bit later.”
“Sure, Ms. Yancey.”
After the nurse took lunch to the disinfection room, Cecilia and Charlie went downstairs to see Evan.
Charlie was a little excited, and his hand clenched slightly around the thermal bag.
He wanted to see how his favorite, adorable younger brother had grown up over the years.
Of course, he had already seen Evan’s picture.
But naturally, it was different from seeing someone in person.
Cecilia saw Charlie’s small actions and joked, “When Evan and I went back to the Shaw residence, we
were bullied by you a lot. Are you afraid now?”
