Chapter 231

After leaving the Shaw residence, Charlie did not return to the hotel but went to a bar.

His grotesque appearance startled the female patrons, who exclaimed in

fear.

“Ah, ghost!”

Then followed a series of insults.

“He’s so ugly and still comes out to scare people… Is he crazy?”

“His face is disgusting, making me want to throw up last night’s dinner!” “People like him who are both

ugly and oblivious exist, after all.”

Charlie was speechless.

Unpleasant words flowed in like a tide.

Ignoring the comments, he walked up to the bar and took a seat.

The other customers immediately called the manager and said, “Do you still want to operate this bar?

Get this unpleasant person out of here, or we’re leaving!”

The customers thought they had the upper hand in numbers, assuming the manager wouldn’t force out

most customers for the sake of one

person.

However, the manager responded, “You can leave.”

The customer was speechless.

They thought they must have misheard. The manager’s decision left them in disbelief. “What did you

say?”

The manager didn’t provide any further explanation and instead called the security.

“Throw those who were using vulgar language out!”

The words “throw out” were highly humiliating, and the customers grew furious and threatened to cause

trouble.

However, when they saw over ten burly security personnel, they meekly allowed themselves to be

ejected from the bar.

This dramatic scene left the remaining customers intrigued about Charlie’s identity.

However, they failed to uncover any information.

In fact, Charlie was the secret owner of this bar, and it was established by the mastermind who had

kidnapped him back then.

It was mainly to keep an eye on the Shaw family.

After eliminating the previous mastermind, who had orchestrated the kidnapping, he had taken over the

leader position and the bar.

On the day he first arrived at Acocester, he came to the bar and revealed his identity to the bar staff.

Today, he visited the bar as part of the preparations for his assassination plan the following day.

Since he had to put on a show, for sure, he had to make it more realistic, allowing the shareholders to

see his “resentment.”

After Charlie drank two glasses of alcohol, he went to the exclusive private room.

After a while, the bar’s management team arrived.

About ten individuals stood in a line, respectfully saluting Charlie, saying, “Sir.”

“Tomorrow is the anniversary of George and his wife, Amelia’s death. Aiden will return to pay his

respects. Evan, who is injured, will

accompany him as well, and Cecilia will definitely be there. This is our ideal opportunity to act.”

“Sir, please give your orders.”

Charlie picked up the red wine glass in front of him and swirled it gently. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

The wine–red liquid twirled along the inner wall of the glass, getting higher and higher. On the verge of

spilling out, it just hung on the rim. His motion seemed to hold a captivating charm, drawing everyone’s

attention, and their hearts raced.

“Our goal is not to overthrow the entire Shaw family but to kill Evan, capture Cecilia, and force Aiden to

open the transportation route across the border for the organization. Do you understand?”

He then drank up the wine in his glass.

The tension that had built up within everyone was released with the intake of wine. They all chorused,

“Got it!”

“The cemetery is heavily guarded, making it inconvenient to act there. Instead, we’ll wait until they’re on

their way back to the city tomorrow.

Someone, please bring over a map of Acocester. We need to discuss the specific plan.”

An hour passed.

Charlie folded the map of Acocester, his sharp gaze scanning each person’s face.

“Regardless of the outcome tomorrow, it will be hard for all of you to escape unscathed. If anyone

hesitates or lags behind, I’ll make sure they meet a gruesome end!”

“Don’t worry, Sir. We won’t back down!”

No one dared to hesitate because they were all affected by poison, and betraying the organization

meant facing a fate worse than death.

Charlie waved his hand and said, “Go prepare. Have a good meal tonight. We might be on the move

tomorrow.”

The words didn’t weigh heavily on their minds. Instead, they were a little excited.

They were all gamblers, enjoying recklessness, and managing the bar felt too constricting for them. So,

they preferred to have a thrilling adventure instead.

“Yes, Sir.”

Charlie was soon left alone in the private room.

He took out his phone and called John. “Send the content I discussed in the private room to the four

major shareholders and ask for their opinions. Give me a prompt response.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Before long, Charlie received their responses.

The shareholders naturally agreed to his plan but demanded that he be removed from the operation.

This way, even if the plan failed, there would be a way out.

Charlie expected that response.

He ripped the map into shreds, threw it in the trash, and left.

On his way, he passed by the dance floor, where the bar staff was reveling, frantically celebrating the

night as their last day.

When he exited the bar, he walked slowly along the road.

In a blind spot of the surveillance cameras, he glanced back.

After making sure that the trackers could see his action clearly, he took out a mini voice recorder from

his pocket and tossed it into a flowerbed by the roadside.

Inside the recorder were the details of the assassination and capture plan he had discussed with the

bar’s management.

Half an hour later, the voice recorder was in Cecilia’s hand.

She didn’t fully trust Charlie and had always assigned people to monitor him.

She had thought she was being discreet, but Charlie had simply chosen not to reveal his awareness.

She went back to her room to listen to the content of the recorder. Then, she went to the infirmary.

Evan and Christopher were asleep.

Cecilia woke them up and played the contents of the recorder.

“Evan, if we perfectly avoid Charlie’s assassination plan tomorrow, he will definitely be suspected.

Should we play along with his plan?”

She inclined toward playing along, with the condition that Aiden or Evan would get “injured” in

exchange for gaining Wolf Killer’s trust.

However, she worried about startling their elderly grandmother, Elaine.

Evan hesitated for a moment and said, “There’s no need to avoid it, and we shouldn’t necessarily play

along. We will improvise tomorrow.”

“What about grandmother? Should we be honest with her? I’m afraid something will happen to her.”

Cecilia was very worried about their grandmother experiencing a heart attack or stroke due to such

stimulation.

“Let’s hold off on being honest for now. After tomorrow, we’ll discuss it with Aiden. Our grandmother

has weathered many storms; she won’t be easily frightened by minor setbacks.”

“That’s right. I was probably worrying unnecessarily.”

Christopher chimed in, “Ceci, go get some rest. Tomorrow will be a busy day.”

The next day, at the Shaw residence, Cecilia got up very early and went to the kitchen at dawn.

To her surprise, Elaine was already there.

She was wrapping crab ravioli, a favorite snack of Amelia.

Every year on George and Amelia’s death anniversary, Cecilia would help Elaine cook some of their

favorite food and worship them.

“Grandma Elaine, why are you up so early? Have you had a good rest?”

“I went to bed early last night, hoping to wake up a bit carlier today to make some offerings by hand.”

“Let me help you. I’ll make the shrimp croquettes that Dad loves.”

The two of them worked together for almost an hour, not only preparing the offerings but also making

breakfast.

Cecilia set the breakfast on the dining table and checked the time.

“Grandma Elaine, Aiden is almost here. I’ll pick him up at the door.”

Elaine washed her hands and came out. “Let’s go. We haven’t seen each other for more than three

years. I really miss that rascal.”

“Okay, let’s go together.”

As they walked to the front gate, they encountered Christopher.

He was still recovering from his injuries, walking slowly, and his face was a bit pale.

Seeing Cecilia’s curious gaze, he smiled and explained, “It’s my first time meeting my brother–in–law. I

need to make a good impression.”

He knew that Aiden was someone who valued etiquette. It was his first time meeting him, so it wouldn’t

be appropriate for him to lie on the bed.
