The True Lady Strikes Back novel (Cecilia and Christopher)

Chapter 241

Chapter 241

Chapter 241

After Cecilia’s departure, Jeffrey started creating antidotes under the watchful eye of Aiden’s security

details.

Little did he know that the news of his “death” had already spread.

Aiden forged the photos of his death to make it more believable.

“Jeffrey” was seen lying at the corner of the stairs. He had blood on him and was in an unusual

position. It seemed like he fell down the stairs and died.

Jeffrey was a highly respected individual in the medical field. When the news of his death spread, it

quickly became a trending topic.

Initially, the other three shareholders of “Wolf Killer” were skeptical upon seeing the trending topic.

Without a doubt, Jeffrey was the most intelligent and courageous of them all.

If he weren’t, he wouldn’t have made it to the front line and received the biggest bonus.

“How could he possibly have died? It was just a fall!” They wondered.

The Shaw family was the target of Wolf Killer. Therefore, many subordinates were relocated to

Acocester.

The three shareholders promptly dispatched individuals to inquire about the news and verify if anything

truly occurred to Jeffrey.

Simultaneously, Charlie also received a call.

Charlie was watching the news at the hotel when John called. He wasn’t surprised at all.

After the call was answered, the shareholder spoke in an unpleasant AI–altered voice.

“Why did Jeffrey die? Is the news reliable?”

Charlie replied indifferently, “I just saw the news. I’m going to go to the hospital to verify it. If Jeffrey

truly has died, what should we do with his project? Should we shut it down or get someone to take

over?”

Not only was Jeffrey involved in pharmaceutical development, but he was also participating in the

illegal manufacturing of drugs. It was just that Charlie wasn’t allowed to handle this matter, so he had to

pretend not to know.

“Verify the news first, then we will discuss what will happen next.” “All right. I’ll do it right away.”

As Charlie was about to end the call, the shareholder suddenly asked, “Sevan, isn’t it about time for

you to take the antidote?”

Charlie replied, “Hmm. In ten more days.”

“You must control the Shaw family during this period. If you can’t accomplish this, you do not deserve

to continue existing. Consider this as your punishment for failing to protect Jeffrey.”

Previously, the shareholders instructed Charlie to protect Jeffrey, as he can benefit the organization

significantly.

Given Charlie’s failure to do so, it was natural that he would be suspected and face the consequences.

He pretended to be frightened and said, “Don’t worry. I will definitely complete the task. Please have

the antidote ready, and I will return in time to take it.”

It was implied that he would take Cecilia to the headquarters of Wolf Killer ten days later.

“I’ll wait for your updates.”

After saying that, the shareholder hung up the phone.

Afterward, Charlie went to the military hospital.

Jeffrey was invited to Acocester by him. If anything happened, he would naturally have to intervene.

As Charlie observed “Jeffrey” in the morgue, he couldn’t help but notice how much this stand–in

resembled the real Jeffrey.

The makeup and face–changing techniques in Clusia were truly impressive! The attention to detail was

also commendable.

Physical features such as a mole on the earlobe, a scar on the elbow, and nails turning white due to

long–term experiments were all characteristics that resembled Jeffrey.

Charlie initially planned to capture pictures and share them with John. However, he ultimately decided

to change his mind and make a video call instead.

It would be more persuasive to let the shareholders see for themselves.

The video call was promptly answered.

John obeyed the shareholder’s instructions, carefully examining the details to verify that “Jeffrey” was

deceased.

“Sir, please further confirm the cause of Mr. Farsons‘ death.”

“Okay, please wait for my updates.”

After hanging up the call, Charlie went to the laboratory to learn about the situation before going to

Aiden.

Aiden was waiting outside the intensive care unit when Charlie

approached. Aiden told Charlie, “Zachary, I don’t feel sorry for Professor Farsons. He deserved to die.”

In a deep voice, Charlie cooperated with the acting and inquired, “Aiden, why did you say so?”

“Jeffrey conspired with a hospital cleaner to poison a respected general who had made important

military contributions. However, he was caught, and while trying to escape, he fell down the stairs and

died.”

“Aiden, is there some sort of misunderstanding? Why would Jeffrey do such a thing?”

Aiden asked instead, “Zachary, do you know Jeffrey well? Or are you involved in this together?”

Meeting his sharp and cold gaze, Charlie immediately explained, “Professor Farsons is the

pharmacologist I hired. We usually have a good relationship, but I rarely inquire about his personal life.

And regarding your claim that I am working together with him, I’m afraid I don’t understand what you

mean.”

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand. I have ordered a thorough investigation of your

pharmaceutical company. Regardless of your innocence, the result will be revealed soon.”

John, who was monitoring Charlie, immediately reported this update to the shareholders.

The shareholders urgently asked the pharmaceutical company to destroy Jeffrey’s research

completely.

They were not worried about pharmaceutical companies being investigated, but they didn’t want

Charlie to get in trouble.

When Aiden’s subordinates took Charlie for questioning, Cecilia returned to the laboratory with the

herbs Jeffrey needed and the food he wanted.

Jeffrey was determined to live, so he focused on creating the antidote with great seriousness.

He quickly set aside the reagent in his hand when he saw Cecilia returning.

“Ms. Yancey, you’re finally back. Can I have dinner first before continuing to make the antidote?”

“Of course.”

Cecilia handed Jeffrey the bag containing the lunch box and stated, “Remember to eat more. You won’t

be able to rest until you create an antidote.”

“No worries. Now that I have the herbs, making an antidote is easy.” As he said this, Jeffrey’s eyes fell

on the bag containing herbs with a smile.

Making an antidote was simple. The same went for making a poison.

Thinking about it, Jeffrey’s melancholy from being caught vanished completely, and he joyfully indulged

in his meal.

As soon as he took the first bite, he immediately realized that the food he got wasn’t from the

restaurant he ordered from.

This was expected.

In addition, he predicted Aiden would carefully check the restaurants and hotels where he ordered his

food.

Just in case his accomplices were there, using food to send him a

message.

In fact, he purposely teased Aiden to give him more work and make him do unnecessary tasks.

His main goal was to have Cecilia purchase the herbs.

After Jeffrey finished eating, Jeffrey asked Cecilia to help him make the antidote.

He wanted to use this opportunity to poison Cecilia.

It was better if he succeeded, but it didn’t matter if he didn’t. He had other plans regardless.

Cecilia was intelligent and could easily figure out Jeffrey’s intentions.

Jeffrey might be better than her in medical skills, but she certainly knew more about herbs than him.

As a result, she disregarded Jeffrey’s scheme and assisted him in experimenting.

“Poisoning? That is completely out of the question,” Cecilia thought.

However, she was willing to play along and find out what Jeffrey had in

mind.

As the antidote was almost ready, Cecilia suddenly fainted. Her fingers turned stiff, and her face

became unusually red,

Aiden’s security details were terrified by this unexpected incident.

“Ms. Yancey, what’s wrong?”

“Keep an eye on Ms. Yancey, and I’ll call a doctor,”

Jeffrey glanced at the flustered security details and couldn’t help but smile with a sense of pride. “She

was just poisoned. There’s no need to panic” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

As soon as he said this, he was caught,

Soon after, Aiden and the doctor came to the laboratory together.

Aiden looked at Cecilia, who was poisoned and felt a slight panic. He tried to keep his usual

expressionless face, but his eyes revealed his emotions.

Jeffrey mused, “It seems that our target is correct. The Shaw family cared more about Cecilia than

Elaine. As long as Cecilia was caught, the Shaw family would probably compromise!”
