Chapter 200 An Accomplice
Chapter 200 An Accomplice
On the way home, Jane heard that Daisy was connected to a lie detector, which showed she was not
lying. She didn't push Sophia.
"You don't seem to be surprised," said William.
He tried his best to drive steadily while staring at Jane sideways. She was very calm. NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
"No. There are only two possibilities."
Daisy pushed Sophia or Sophia slipped on purpose to frame Daisy.
Jane couldn't figure out which one was right. But judging from Sophia's reaction, Jane thought the latter
was more likely.
Daisy wasn't stupid enough to kill her baby.
"Stay away from the Carts," William said seriously.
He had a bad impression of them. The family was troublesome.
Jane didn't say anything. She asked about the new undersea project of the Duncan Group. The project
had been the center of public attention.
"We are going to measure the stability of the sea."
These factors were crucial. William found the project harder than he had expected, but he was
confident.
He believed hard effort will pay off.
It was just that some of the senior directors had been causing troubles recently. It was as if someone
was asking them to thwart his efforts.
"Could it be the Floyds?"
Jane asked tentatively.
If it was someone else, William wouldn't remain silent with a deep frown.
"Yeah. Grandfather still doesn't know it."
Colin had just had an operation and was still recovering from it. Plus, he had been away from business
for a long time. William did not want to bother him.
If he wanted a speedy recovery, he should be emotionally stable. But his blood pressure had long been
an issue.
"I think you underestimate grandpa."
Colin had been through many ups and downs in the past decades. As a senior businessman, he had
seen loads of tricks and treachery.
"I told him about what happened recently, and he soon knew what was going on."
Jane pointed out. It was William who couldn't see the big picture.
William and Andrew had been good friends since they were kids.
If there was bad blood between the Floyds and the Duncans, it would spoil their friendship.
William drove in silence. If their families turned against each other one day, he only hoped it happened
as late as possible.
"Janie, come back now. Andrew is crazy!"
Jane's phone rang. It was Pearl's number and she picked it up immediately.
"What happened?"
Jane was shocked.
Shouldn't Andrew be in the hospital?
"Andrew is just like a mad dog. A mad dog!"
Pearl screamed. It turned out that Andrew and Robert were fighting!
"Robert wanted to send me home. We were on the way back but were stopped by the Floyds."
Pearl was so angry that she couldn't utter a word properly. It took her a long time to calm down.
She suddenly remembered she was short of the medicine that she had been taking. So, she went to
the hospital with Robert.
They met Andrew there. He was pale.
Andrew had just given his blood to Daisy, and he brought two bodyguards with him.
"And then? Did he question you?" asked Jane.
She had a bad feeling. Perhaps Andrew had misunderstood them.
"Of course! He asked me why I lied. How dare he say that!"
Pearl was furious as she was bombarded with hard questions from Andrew, who seemed to imply Pearl
lied because she looked down on Sophia and couldn't risk her collaboration with Daisy.
Didn't Andrew know her? If she saw it, she wouldn't lie!
Pearl said, "Andrew said that I despise Sophia because she's an illegitimate daughter. He's being
unreasonable. He thinks I cause Sophia to attempt to kill herself twice."
Pearl was too furious to continue. If she had a knife, she would attack Andrew on the spot.
Her mood was unstable after she was wronged. So, Robert stood up for her and confronted Andrew.
"Andrew cursed Robert and said he was blinded by love and couldn't tell right from wrong. Fighting
broke out!"
Pearl wiped her tears. Andrew was not Robert's match as he just lost a lot of blood.
"He was beaten up by Robert. His bodyguards helped him and vented their anger on Robert. Robert is
being treated in the hospital!
Pearl was burst with fury. She did not know what to do now.
Before Robert fainted, he held her hand tightly and muttered, "I'm worried about you."
Robert feared that she would act recklessly without thinking about the consequences.
"Robert is in the hospital? Is his injury serious?" said Jane.
She put it on her loudspeaker while rubbing her temples tiredly.
Today was a bad day. Horoscope said she should avoid meeting friends and going out. But she didn't
believe it. Now bad things have happened to her.
Being anxious, Jane started throwing up again.
"You want some fruit juice?"
William pulled over and took out the juice.
"How is Robert now?" said William.
When Pearl heard William's voice, she got nervous.
No matter good Robert was at fighting, he couldn't take down Andrew's bodyguards, who were
professionally trained.
"It's very serious. He has bone fractures."
Feeling wronged, she called Elyse, who arrived in no time and was about to go to the Floyds' place for
an explanation.
The Floyds shouldn't have messed with Pearl's man.
They were very powerful, but she was not a pushover!
Plus, Sophia deserved it as she put on a smug look and showed off in front of Daisy.
Pearl believed Harrison would give her justice!
William said to Pearl, "Stay put. I'll send Janie home and then go to the hospital to see Robert."
Due to Sophia's miscarriage and a series of events that happened later, Jane was slightly frightened.
Although she was better now, she couldn't stand more shock.
Before Pearl could speak, William hung up.
"What should we do now?" asked Jane.
Jane couldn't figure out any solution. Andrew lost his long-awaited baby, and it was natural for him to
lose his temper.
However, he was just stupid. Men should learn how women plotted against each other. They would
literally go to the extreme.
"Andrew may have guessed it. But self-deception gets the better of him."
William opened the window, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. He was immersed in his thought.
Jane didn't bother William. She pondered over his words. Self-deception?
Was it because Andrew liked Sophie?
He brought Sophia to social occasions and argued with Harrison just to marry her. All signs showed
that he fell in love with Sophia.
Andrew and Robert were both William's friends.
"Let's go. I'll send you home," said William.
He opened his eyes. There was a glint of determination in them
Jane estimated that William already had the answer.
It seemed that nothing could stump William. He was always calm.
