Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 158

Chapter 158

Even though the doctor told him not to worry about Izabella, he couldn't help but fret over her. He would occasionally feel her forehead to check her temperature, give her water, and wipe her body with a wet towel to help her cool down.

After an hour of fussing, her temperature finally normalized. Brett let out a sigh of relief and saw that it was already 2 a.m.

He climbed into bed, facing Izabella, and closed his eyes.

The following morning at 8 a.m., the doctor arrived for a check-up, finding Izabella's temperature had returned to normal. "Nothing major to worry about," he reassured. "She has some superficial injuries. If you find applying medication troublesome, she can remain in the hospital for a few more days."

The most severe injury was the cut on her wrist, which had severed a blood vessel but luckily spared the tendons. Nevertheless, a few stitches were required, resulting in a visible scar on her wrist that would endure for the remainder of her life.

Liam stopped by in the morning and on the way, bought a bouquet of flowers and a variety of fruit. Unsure of Izabella's preferences, he picked up expensive stuff, some nutritious snacks as well.

When Liam entered the room carrying an armful of gifts, Brett was eating breakfast by the window, looking much better compared to the previous day. However, he had dark circles under his eyes, likely from staying up late to take care of Izabella.

It wasn't the first time Liam saw Izabella hospitalized. In the past year, she seemed to have had particularly bad luck, ending up in the hospital several times, each time with life-threatening injuries.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Watching how Brett cared for Izabella, Liam noticed a change in his attitude, from initial indifference to restless concern.

Liam had always thought of Brett as a cold-hearted person; no matter what happened, his face remained indifferent. As for Izabella, it seemed that Brett treated her like a dog he had raised for years.

Dogs are incredibly loyal, even if their owner dies, they still refuse to leave.

Brett seemed indifferent toward Izabella because he was overly confident, blindly believing she would stay with him forever.

But now, even Brett himself probably didn't realize how deep his feelings for Izabella were.

Izabella woke up in a daze, the room dimly lit and her mind blank. She couldn't immediately tell where she was.

She moved her aching arm and accidentally tugged at her back injury. The pain made her gasp, and terrifying memories flooded into her brain.

Heckter had beaten her, and when he pressed her down onto the bed and she cut her wrist, she thought she was going to die. But then Brett showed up.

So she must be in the hospital now. Izabella quickly pieced together her situation, but with the curtains drawn and no clock in sight, she couldn't tell what time it was or how long she had been unconscious.

Brett came out of the bathroom and saw that she was awake. His usually expressionless face finally lightened a bit.

With a glimmer of concern in his eyes, he approached Izabella in long strides, bombarding her with questions. "Are you still feeling uncomfortable? Would you like some water? Where does it hurt?"

Izabella had just regained consciousness and felt a wave of dizziness. She weakly replied, “It hurts.”

To her astonishment, Brett's expression darkened, and he uttered coldly, "You still have the audacity to feel pain even now! How dare you venture to the underground casino alone? Was that a suitable place for you to be?"
