Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 265

Chapter 265

The landlord felt really bad for letting Izabella do such a job. She had to work outdoors and it was quite hard.

The landlord just mentioned it casually, never thinking that Izabella would agree, but she said yes immediately. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

"Alright then. But this job...", the landlord felt that it was really weird to have such a beautiful girl like Izabella to work like a cleaner.

"People should know their own capabilities. It's good enough that I can find a job here, especially since my hands don't seem to be able to do much else." Said Izabella.

Although some people suggested her to do easier jobs, like bookkeeping or helping in a restaurant, her hands could probably break all the dinnerware in the restaurant just by carrying a tray, and bookkeeping required handling cash, using a pen or computer, which her hands' dexterity just wasn't enough for.

With both hands crippled, doing anything was inconvenient. Izabella had no choice but to accept it.

The landlord knew the situation with her hands. For someone who trembled while eating, living a normal life was already a problem, let alone working properly.

Izabella had already heard enough comforting words, so the landlord directly talked about the salary, "The pay isn't high, and can be cashed out daily. However, daily wages will be a bit lower. Besides that, the person in charge said that they could sign a contract, and they will raise your salary after some time."

Signing a contract meant working for at least a year, and Izabella didn't have that much time.

"I'll skip the contract, since I can only work for two months at the moment." Said Izabella.

"Two months?" The landlord didn't know why she set such a hard deadline and asked with curiosity, "Do you have something else going on?"

"I'm pregnant." Said Izabella.

"What!" The landlord couldn't believe her eyes as she looked Izabella up and down. It was impossible to tell that she was pregnant at all. The she asked, "How many months for your pregnancy?"

"Three months," Izabella answered.

"And you're still working?" The landlord thought back to her own pregnancy. When she found out she was pregnant, her family took care of her and didn't even allow her to step foot in the kitchen.

And now, she looked at this woman, who was running around while being pregnant and looking for a job as a cleaner.

"Do you have any difficulties?" Asked the landlord.

"I still have some money saved up, but I can't rely on that forever. I want to save it because there will be a lot of expenses after the baby is born." Said Izabella.

That made sense, but the landlord didn't agree with her working.

"Do you have any pregnancy symptoms now?" Asked the landlord.

"Yeah, but I'm okay. I can eat and sleep." Said Izabella.

"That's because you're still in the early months." The landlord interrupted her, "Once you hit three months, your pregnancy symptoms will come out more. When I was pregnant with my two kids, I was constantly throwing up. Finally managed to endure it, then my belly grew really big. I could only

sleep on my side since I couldn't breathe if I slept on my back. Also, carrying around those 20 extra pounds felt like carrying a huge rock, not to mention my legs swelling."

Izabella felt a bit scared listening to all this.

"Anyway, think it over carefully. Being a cleaner isn't easy, and it's smelly. Since you're already experiencing symptoms and throwing up, if you smell something bad, you'll throw up even more. If you can't eat and still have to work, your already weak body will hurt your baby." Said the landlord.

As soon as Izabella heard that it would affect her baby, she turned pale.

Izabella said, "I'll think it over carefully. Don't worry about keeping that job for me. If someone else misses an opportunity because of me, that wouldn't be good."

The landlord knew she had come to understand and breathed a sigh of relief, "I will keep an eye out for other jobs for you. Actually, doing online purchasing on behalf of others is a good choice too. You just need to type, send voice messages and provide customer service. The couple who rented my house before were doing that. I still have their contact; I can help you consult with them. But for now, just focus on regaining your health. This job can also be quite stressful."

"You can do that here?" Izabella asked.

The landlord looked at her surprise expression and smiled, "Of course. Although this is a small place, there's a dedicated courier station. It's really convenient to send and receive packages."

Izabella had an idea: doing purchasing required good communication skills, the income was not stable, and sometimes there's a risk of losing money. But if she did it well, it would definitely be much easier than being a cleaner. She could consider that as an extra option.

"Then please, help me ask them about it. For now, I won't think about it too much. I'll focus on getting my health back on track." Said Izabella.

"Alright," the landlord smiled and left.

Izabella walked her to the door, thinking that she should invite the landlord for a meal some day. After all, she had helped her so much.

After getting a prenatal checkup at the hospital and making sure the baby was healthy, Izabella felt relieved.

Since she got pregnant, she had taken fewer stomach medications. These drugs were brought from J City, and they were running out, so Izabella went to the hospital to buy some more.

The doctor had never seen this type of drug before, and without a label, it was hard to know the ingredients. The drugstores in town had nothing like this either.

Izabella didn't give it much thought, just speculating that since the drug might be foreign, and that it was normal not to find it in town.

As the landlord mentioned, after three months of pregnancy, her reactions intensified. She couldn't hold her food down and her heart raced at night.

She vomited up all the yogurt she ate that night, even seeing blood in her vomit.

Izabella put her hand on her belly and said, "Are you like your dad, picky to the point that you don't want to eat anything?"

So picky when so young, vomiting up everything, what would she do in the future?

Lately, Izabella's expenses had been quite high. She initially withdrew 30,000 dollars, and now had only 25,000 left. She kept her money in the house, glancing at it from time to time, and as the thickness gradually thinned, she began to panic.

All the checkups and the delivery would cost money. Her body was weak, so after giving birth, she would need to hire a nanny to take care of the baby and her, which would also cost money.

Counting her money, Izabella figured that for a long time in the future, she would have expenditures but no income, and her money would quickly run out like water.

Izabella took out the two pieces of jewelry she brought with her from her backpack.

Both were gold, with gemstones embedded. She searched online and found that their original value was around two million.

She wanted to sell them, and even getting one million would be good enough. After all, she had taken these without permission and couldn't sell them directly in the store.

Izabella bought some fruit from a fruit stand and took it to the fifth floor to find the landlord.

Hearing the knock, the landlord opened the door, smiled when she saw Izabella, and then noticed the fruit she was holding.

Izabella, carrying some fruits, said, "Fiona, I've come to bother you again. You have so many connections, I want to ask you some stuff."

Fiona tried to refuse the fruits she brought, "You didn't need to bring fruits. Just come over. You should take them back and enjoy them yourself. What do you want to ask me? As long as I know, I'll definitely tell you and help out if I can."
