Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Brett touched her gently, and Izabella instantly stiffened, tensing visibly.
She fell directly into the water, choking on it and feeling nausea from the chest pain and stomach ache.
Brett hugged her and said, "Why are you moving around?"
Rubbing her sore eyes, Izabella squeezed out a voice from between her teeth, "Brett, can you not touch me at will?"
Brett's face was much softer than usual. Looking at her puffed up like a hamster, he laughed and said, "So what if I do?"
"Disgusting." The disgust in Izabella's eyes was exposed.
Staring at her red eyes, Brett's voice was indifferent and icy, "You're disgusted by just a touch?"
As the words fell, Izabella watched as Brett's face darkened inch by inch, the overwhelming chill almost swallowing her.
Izabella clenched her fists, ignoring the injury on her hand. The bandage was soaked with water and turned red.
Seeing this, Brett immediately let go of her waist to check her hand. There was blood oozing out.
She didn't know if it was because she was scared by Brett's words just now, Izabella's whole body became very stiff.
Looking at her like this, Brett was at a loss for words. He was angry, but had nowhere to vent.
After the two were silent for a while, Brett took a deep breath, reached out and took off the towel covering her head, "I just wanted to check the wound on your spine."
There was a red patch on her spine, which must have been hit somewhere. The injury was quite serious.
"Don't think I don't know what you're up to." Izabella bit her lip and tears started to run down her face.
Brett paused for a moment, "What do you mean? You think I'm eager to give you a bath? You're so dirty!"
Hearing this, Izabella immediately pulled off the towel from her head and pointed angrily at the bathroom door, "Then you get out, please leave immediately!"
It was then that Brett saw the tear stains on Izabella's face. He felt a sudden tug in his heart.
If anyone else dared to speak to him like that, he would have walked out on the spot. But looking at Izabella's defiant face, he felt somewhat reluctant to leave her behind.
He got up, and just when Izabella thought he was leaving, Brett picked up another towel, wrapped it around her, and picked her up.
The sudden feeling of suspension made her involuntarily clutch Brett's soaked clothes.
Brett carried Izabella back to the bedroom and put her on the bed. Knowing she was afraid of the cold, he even lifted the quilt to cover her.
"Don't lie down in a hurry. I'll go get some medicine to treat your wounds."
Brett took out a first-aid kit from the cabinet, grabbing scissors, iodine, cotton swabs, and gauze.
He squatted down in front of Izabella, carefully cutting the gauze. The wound on her leg was alright since it hadn't been wet, so it wasn't bleeding.
Brett's jawline tightened. He hadn't expected Izabella's injuries to be so severe. When the iodine was sprayed on, her body couldn't help but tremble.
Izabella's hand was very beautiful, her fingers were long and slender, like fine jade. But now, such a large scar on her hand instantly destroyed all the beauty.
Brett used a cotton swab to apply iodine to her wound and asked, "Does it hurt?"
"You probably don't think it hurts, right?" Izabella's gaze grew cold in an angle that Brett couldn't see. She said indifferently, "The injury isn't on you, so how can you understand how much it hurts." Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Just like he knew she would get hurt, would fear the pain, but he still let her get hurt over and over again.
Now Brett was pretending to care about her, asking her "Does it hurt?" as if it could make up for all the injuries she had suffered?
Injuries on the flesh could be healed with medicine, but those that went deep into the bone hurt every few days.
Izabella didn't want to mock Brett, she wanted to make Brett fall in love with her in revenge, but she couldn't look at him with the same affection as before.
She didn't know if she had changed, or if Brett had changed.
Something she used to think she could pursue without care, now seemed daunting.
There were many things that Brett thought were trivial, but Izabella remembered them clearly, like deep scars that could be seen to the bone.
