Chapter 400
Yvette was starting to have a hard time breathing. Fortunately, the kiss didn't last for too long.
Xavier touched her blushing face and stopped kissing her. Then, he asked softly, "Have I scared you?"
She looked away and wanted to get out of his embrace again. However, he pulled her back into his arms once more. "Don't move. You're pregnant now." "Why are you still doing this when you know I'm pregnant?" she said angrily.
"We're husband and wife; it's normal for us to kiss," he said slowly.
She pulled the blanket over herself and didn't say another word. Xavier wasn't used to her being so quiet.
"Can you say something?" He didn't even realize how low he had gotten.
"There's nothing for me to say. I want to return to my room, so let me go now," she coldly demanded. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier didn't agree to her request and held her tighter. From that moment onward, he wanted to stay by her side so that no one else could approach her. "I've been remembering bits and pieces of my childhood recently."
Yvette looked up at him in confusion. Then, he said, "I remember how you were bullied when I first met you. You fell on the ground and scraped your knees." She was stunned. Even at that moment, she still couldn't tell whn she'd met Xavier and when it had been Jeremiah in the past-she couldn't tell them apart. From what she could remember, she's first met Xavier when he'd visited the Snyder family with Luther. Back then, they'd still been neighbors. Xavier had been standing in the yard in his white shirt. From what she was hearing at that moment, the person she'd met first was most likely Jeremiah.
"What happened next?" she asked.
"Then, you called me Xav. Now that I think about it, I didn't even know how you knew me." Xavier told her everything he remembered about the past.
He wanted her to know who he actually was. He didn't want to be Jeremiah's replacement.
"Were you the one who chased the thugs away?" She looked at that familiar face of his and started feeling a wave of emotions.
"Yeah, you looked way too pitiful back then."
When she heard that, her pupils constricted. She couldn't help asking, "Do you remember anything about Jeremiah?"
When he heard that, Xavier's face fell slightly. "No."
Yvette felt slightly disappointed. She wanted to ask him more about Jeremiah. She wanted to know why he'd impersonated Xavier when they'd been younger. When Xavier noticed how she was keeping quiet after mentioning Jeremiah, he started feeling frustrated. "Are you interested in him?"
Yvette didn't realize something was wrong with him, and she shook her head. "No. I'm just curious since you two are twins." When she looked at him again, his lips were almost touching her face. He wanted to kiss her again.
However, her phone suddenly rang. She hurriedly grabbed it and saw that it was Ray calling.
"Ms. Snyder, I've found something." He didn't manage to find anything at first. However, someone specifically sent him some information. "Go on." Yvette immediately became serious.
"Yara knew Lawrence before your
dad passed away. Someone purposely leaked some
to me. After your father passed away Yara and Terrence transferred most of the Snyders' assets to Lawrence.
"Lawrence was originally a normal guy who was married into the Zelnik family. Now, he has a net worth of hundreds of billions of dollars. He's only successful now because of how much the Snyder family's assets have helped him."
As Yvette silently listened to his report, she clenched her fist tightly.
She didn't know if Yara was too cruel or if Terrence was too dumb. She couldn't believe they had actually transferred everything they had to an outsider. It finally made sense why the Snyder family had crumbled that quickly.
"The whistleblower even told me how Yara and Lawrence already had an unusual relationship before your father passed away."
