Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 609

How could Bernard be so jealous? He even held onto his grudges.

"Can you not get jealous so easily? It was just a joke his father told Grandma before," Hera explained.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

"Jokes are not allowed either!" Bernard answered earnestly.

Hera was speechless. "Why are you so narrow-minded?"

"You're always on my mind, so there's no room for anyone else. That's why I don't like such ridiculous jokes."

Seeing how serious he was being, Hera was afraid that Bernard would keep going on about it. She hurriedly appeased him by saying, "Yes, yes. Whatever you say goes."

Her words to appease him did not upset him. Instead, that gave him a chance. "Does that mean you've agreed that we can try for a baby?" Before Hera could even object, he already kissed her.

The next morning, Hera was awakened by a pang of hunger. The moment she moved, she felt sore everywhere, as if a bus had run over her. Bernard must have used all the energy he did not exert during his trip last night.

She recalled how she kept saying no toward the end of the night, but Bernard did not let her go at all. That made her feel slightly angry. Bernard was truly going overboard these days. He never would have done this in the past.

Hera's stomach rumbled again. She was about to push away Bernard's arms around her so that she could get out of bed. But he already heard her stomach grumbling. "Do you want steak or pasta? I'll go and cook for you."

"I want hummingbird cake," Hera said.

"What's that?" Bernard checked it online and found that it was a Southern delicacy. He had no idea how to make it.

He asked the restaurants nearby, but they did not serve it. Thus, he could only arrange for it to be shipped by plane.

"There's no hummingbird cake here. I'll prepare some pasta for you to tide things over."

Hera turned over to give him silent treatment so that he would get the message. That left Bernard silent.

Half an hour later, Bernard brought the pasta he had prepared to the room. By then, Hera had already gotten out of bed to put on some clothes. Not long after, the doorbell rang. Hera opened the door to see Thiago with his luggage in tow.

"Good morning, Hera. I've brought

the herbs with me, as well as my mom's homemade hummingbird cake. +remember you enjoyed it the last time," Thiago said while taking a container from his bag.

He opened it, revealing slices of hummingbird cake that looked absolutely delicious. Just as Hera had been craving for hummingbird cake, Thiago brought it to her.

"Thank you." Hera accepted the cake without hesitation and turned to head toward the kitchen.

Thiago was thrilled that Hera had accepted the cake. "You're welcome. My mom knows how much you and Grandma Catherine enjoyed it, so she prepared some for your grandma as well."

"Nice."

Bernard noticed how Hera did not even consider the pasta he made for her. Instead, she chose the hummingbird cake given by Thiago. He became slightly displeased. "Is this cake even that good?"

"You'll know in a moment," Hera said. She put the slices of cake on some plates before serving them on the table. She nudged a plate toward Bernard. "You want to try some?"

"No!" Bernard looked disdainful. He had no intention of eating anything given by Thiago.

"I won't let you have it even if you

wanted to. My mother prepared this

for Hera, who will be her

daughter-in-law in the future! You're not allowed to have any!" Thiago deliberately said.

Hera was about to take a bite of the hummingbird cake when Bernard suddenly took the cake from her and put the entire slice in his mouth.
