“Mummy, I don’t like these sliced vegetables.” She said as picked up one of the leaves on her plate as she raised it up in disgust.
“Those are Lettuces, My girl. Eat them up, they are good for your body.”
“But mum…” she tried to protest.
“Not now Ariel, don’t start now.” She wasn’t liking this at all .
“Don’t be hard on her, Mia. She doesn’t like it so don’t force her.” It came from Emma.
“Are you really serious?” Mia asked, looking at her weirdly.
“You want some cereal?”
” Yes Emma. I want some.”
” I will get you some.”

“What are you doing, you know she’s on Green’s diet. The doctor specifically advised that.” Mia said.
” She’s not just your daughter, don’t force in all these rules or you will hurt her more.”
“I’m just concerned about her.”
“If you’re truly concerned then tell her about her father. You can sort your issues with him. She needs a father.”
“That’s impossible. You don’t understand.”
“It’s about Charlotte and you know how dangerous she is.”
“Will you let your fear of Charlotte kill your only child?”
“Stop it! Don’t say those words.”
” You definitely know I’m not lying about it.”
As Mia wanted to give her a reply, they both heard the doorbell and wondered who would be knocking.
“I will check the door bell. Serve the Cereals to Ariel and try to maintain a good relationship with her.” Emma spoke quickly that it took some time for Mia to understand what she had said.
She opened the door and was surprised, it was someone who she hadn’t thought of seeing. They remained silent as they watched each other, none of them uttered a word but Emma found her voice first.
“You monster! What are you doing here?”
Charlotte wasn’t surprised by her words just like Mia. Her relationship with Emma was more bitter than that of her sister even when they had no direct relationship.
“Keep your questions to yourself. I have not come to exchange words with you.”
” Where’s the Murder.” She asked taking a step forward but Emma stopped her with her hand.
“Where are you going?” She asked, grabbing her wrist.
“Don’t start this Emma. It can cost you your Life.”
“You can’t threaten me with those words Charlotte, I’m not scared of you.”
“Emma, I won’t repeat my words again. Leave my way now!”
“Do whatever and call whoever. I’m not scared , Charlotte.”
The noise must have been disturbing Mia because she kept out before Charlotte could call up the securities.
Mia, who was outside with a flowery top and shorts, was surprised to see her sister.
She looked scared which made her best friend angry with her.
Mia was falling into Charlotte’s tricks again, she muttered as she bit her lips making her have a taste of flesh blood.
” I wasn’t expecting you.” Mia muttered softly.
” You don’t have to worry about her, I will make her leave soon.” Emma had assured.
” I have not come here for Emma. I have something important to tell you and it’s private.” She said as she eyed her, only the Heavens knew how much she hated these two ladies.
“I just made it clear you won’t talk to her.” Emma moved forward for a fight but Mia held her back.
“Please, I will have to talk to Charlotte alone .”
” Are you serious?’ She asked with a faked surprised expression.
” Yes…Let’s see what she has to say.”
“What are you doing here?”
” I should be asking you that.”
” Don’t dare play games with me, I’m not joking and I mean every word.”
“You’re in my house in Alaska. This isn’t San Francisco. You know I’m a citizen here.” She spoke with boldness which surprised her.
“I want you off my man. You have a child with someone else due to your carelessness so don’t you try to put the responsibility of a father on Antonio.”
“Is that all?” She asked, making her look stupid.
” I see you’re learning to be rude. Childbirth has really taught you hard life.”
“I ask you a question Charlotte and I need an answer.”
“Go back to Wilson and stay away from Antonio. I won’t want to repeat my words again.” Charlotte said with finality, swung some of her hair strands and walked away.
Mia breathed hard before entering back inside,
” Your sister grows more audacity each passing day.” Emma had said immediately she sighted Mia.
” You can say that again. She said I should accept Wilson and stay away from Antonio.”
” I hope you have no plans of heeding to her words?”
“I’m staying away from both. Can’t risk my only child.”
“Finish your food Ariel, we need to wake early for school tomorrow.”
She left the dining area to her room and locked it immediately, not ready for one of Emma’s scolding. After seeing Antonio at the mall the previous day, he had opened old wounds she felt had healed. His presence in her daughter’s life was risky but there was nothing she could do.
On one hand was Charlotte warning her to stay away from Antonio and on the other hand was her only child who was sick because she needed paternal Love.
Everything was just so confusing, and she was in the worst dilemma.
She opened her drawer and brought out the note Antonio had left after their night together. She had kept it since the morning of his departure where she found out about the note. She really loved Antonio dearly, that night was more than a one night stand for her, it was the most passionate night she had ever had and what made it unique was the daughter she had as a result of their passionate night.
She brought the note closer and kissed it, hoping whatever decision she came up with the next day would be the best and safest.
“Mummy I’m done.” Ariel screamed and she had to choice than to leave to help her do whatever she was finding difficult to do
